ILU2 doll. AND your beautiful Lavellan.
I knew it! Him and his mickey mouse staff!
I won't go into the whole realistic accuracy of a TV show since it'll take us way off-topic, plus I don't know that show so I couldn't say one way or the other, I'll just have to take your word for it. ^^
I can agree that having long hair doesn't mean you can't be a badass warrior but... All I can do is bring up what I've said before about Ashley in ME: She had long hair in ME1 and 2, wrapped up in a bun and I was fine with it. In ME3 they let her wear it loose, and I stopped taking her seriously as a tank. This woman is supposed to be on the frontlines. Nope. Not on my watch girly, I'll take Vega instead.
I don't know, it might be best to agree to disagree.
I wouldn't say that it's historically accurate, I'd say that it's historically authentic.
The main character is Ragnar Lodbrok, a legendary Viking known from sagas. Many Viking kings claimed descent from him. There may have been a Ragnar Lodbrok, but a lot of his story is likely fictitious. The exploits of his 'sons', like Bjorn Ironside, Ivar the Boneless, and Sigudr Snake-in-the-Eye, are at least somewhat historical.
The story takes a lot of liberties with history and what-not, but unlike the vast majority of shows, it does it in a manner that, from what I've seen of a show, shows that they do understand the history behind it, and that all of the 'mistakes' are a result of them doing a modern version of Ragnar Lodbrok and his Sons, not a straight up historical narrative. It's fun and it gives a decent idea of what was going on in the Viking Age. I'm no expert on Viking fashion, but the rocker look would be appropriate.
And it gets people more interested in the era, which is always nice. (Almost always. *glowers at 300*)
Disclaimer: I am not a professional historian, and even as an amateur the Viking Age is not my specialty. ![]()
Warning: Presuming they hold to the Saga at all, I haz spoiler bombs. ![]()
Edit: Also, someone on Reddit just posted this album of wallpapers. They're nice. http://imgur.com/a/7ApmO
Thank you! I was looking for a new wallpaper, now I have the f!Inquisitor one ^^
Edit because my keyboard likes to eat ws before going to bed.
Haha, I always default to range classes if I think I'll be terrible. xD I'll just stand over here and drop my arrows or forget my spells while all you serious fighters can get up close and personal with the baddies.
DW rogues can do so much damage
I really enjoy that class. Sadly, you can't leave it alone one second. The AI for DW rogues is quite suicidal.
My tactic is always the same: damage, become invisible before the enemy punch, damage again, roll, and do all over again. Is quite fun! ![]()
Long-haired blonde, here! I think it's maybe worth mentioning that these clichés upset me as a blonde as well. Growing up, I was really confused by the characterization of damsels in distress in various media, though at that time couldn't put my finger on why. Generalization of anything based on something as arbitrary as hair colour is kinda silly. And shouldn't overshadow how we assess an individual's character, in my opinion.
I think i was very tired as a kid to see everywhere in every media long haired blondes
there was actually a period where blond girl=good girl/heroine/princess and dark haired girl=villain, or bad person. I was sooooooo angry at those tv show...
I hate Ashley in ME3. To me, she looks way more sexified than Miranda. I'm so glad I always kill her in ME and keep my sweet Kaidan.
My Lavellan has long white hair, she just keeps it up in a pony tail all the time.
I'm just gonna stop talking.
Good night, Solas thread.
Did someone say blonde?

I especially like my early ability to accessorize.
You rocked that MJ look. I'm sincerely jealous I don't have any child picture of myself as rad as this one. Best I could do was one with some blue/pink/white glasses, and another one with a totally 90's spaceship ugly sweater.

I would just like to say that Kaidan's dancing in Citadel was the greatest thing in my life. Even greater than James'.
I like to think they did motion-capture for those scenes.
And now I want an Inquisition dance party.
Nonono, **** I'm awful at explaining myself today, I think it's more the bimbo effect that puts me off. It's not just that she's got yellow blonde hair, but big eyelashes (so distracting in a notnice way when her eyes reflected off her helmet in the Gamecube game), big chest. Maybe I should be of the attitude that she looks like that and is still a badass, but I just don't. It doesn't effect me with other characters like Zelda in Legend of Zelda (or Link for that matter since he's blonde in a lot of games), but for her it does.
I've nothing against actual blondes myself, I used to be blonde myself before nature made it a weird ashy brown for reasons beyond me. ;_; Please don't hate my Rogue I love you.
Edit: Again this is just my views on video games. In the real world, with real people, I've got a much more relaxed viewpoint on things. ^^
No worries, lovely! I am SO on board with hating the bimbo effect--perhaps especially because I am blonde, and get painted with that brush more often than I'd like, regardless of how I behave--which is why I asked if there was anything else about her that bugged you. When I view Samus, I try to filter out any bimbo-ish elements her designers have painted her with for the sake of her True Badassery™. I'm totally on the realistic characters train, plz kthx developers.
So yeah, no offense taken. You're great, ILU too!

Every picture I have of me as a child is basically rad.

I love this comic. This is exactly what I imagine happening after Solas leaves my Lavellan. Dorian is her best friend.

Someone was a bit trigger happy today and even registered for tumblr to not hopelessly clog her harddrive with ecreenshots.
No, I am an adult woman, I never fall for characters in video games.
Like his look on this one. Good night.
..also I am a bad liar.
My Qunari and male Lavellan are KE.
love that specialization. Expecially because I'm a terrible player...
and I'm better with melee style of fighting. I think I'll go for one of the others two for the Cullen/Lavellan one. But I'm already a little sad... (hug both Zula and Amrod. you are my awesome mages-warriors.)

Agree, yes! All of this. *high five*

Can I just say how much I love your sweater? I'd like to see Solas in such a sweater. I could see Solas really loving a good, home-made, solar system inspired sweater. (Totally on topic.
)
And since we're sharing ridiculous childhood photos...

Wish I could like KE like you but I tried KE once and sadly got bored wth it. I thought I was going to love it but weirdly rift Mage has been the one I love to play.
Same here. I love the rift mage and tempest specs the most. My main PC is a Knight Enchanter but that was mostly because I was dragging Solas around everywhere so I didn't want to make her a rift mage. Also because then I get to stand in the back with Solas and if anything gets close to him I smash it with that sword.

I loved playing duel wielding rogue in Origins and DA 2 but here in Inquisition there is no auto attack and when the enemy moves across the the field I have to go chase it.
I play on PC so I mostly either play Archer or Mage.
I can see how on PC can be painful to play a rogue. But on console with a pad is quite fun! ![]()

What a fabulous piece of gaming history you have there ![]()
I should have inherited my cousin Sega Megadrive as my first console...sadly, it died before I could have it, and instead a year or so later my parents buyed me my first PlayStation. ![]()
Yup. I'm actually in the middle of the Temple of Dirthamen at the moment, and the priests of Dirthamen were supposed to know and see all... Imagine a society that can see into your dreams and find dissention. Then imagine it's like the Qun, but there's literally no way to hide your private thoughts and dreams. Maybe it wasn't exactly the same as the Qun, but the level of society control the ancient elves had is hinted in things like this and the well of sorrows.
Ol' Fen'Harel may have constructed the veil and sealed away the gods for very good reason, even if the side-effects may have been devastating.
Taking a while to catch up with this thread, but this post inspired another fic. Not as dark as the last one, thankfully, though I hope I got the creepy factor of the gods right. https://www.fanficti...t/s/11100385/1/Enjoy!

Creeper Dirthamen is suitably creepy. Also that last line. MY FEELS.
That is absolutely adorable, Empress!!
