Do people (okay, I'll concede some people do, obviously) really play Skyrim for the engaging storyline or is it to run around a really pretty environment for 23482039482304 hours?

I think it depends on the person. For me, it's mainly for roleplay and exploration but I do get into the lore and story every now and then. I first played Skyrim on the PS3, then when I got the PC version, I played it for the mods. :P

A lot of people play it for mods and modding.

I said in an earlier post that you could strip the last dragonborn stuff out of Skyrim and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.  In fact, some people do play it like that.

HAH! engaging storyline. I do everything but the main storyline first.but I do like reading codexes. At first, I did't care about nature, sincecivilization is where coin is at. well aside from dungeoning. But when a bunch of immersion mods came out where you could die from hypothermia forced to eat and sleep, make tents, raise a growing puppy, pay taxes, live a non-dragonborn life while caravaning, watch civil war on the roads, prostitute yourself on the streets when you're bored, exploring became fun.

That's how all their games work, which is the beauty of it. Though this worked better previously. Without mods, you pretty much are the dragonborn, even if you ignore it.

Honestly, I found the civil war much more interesting than the main questline. Killing Tullius was a lot more satisfying than Alduin, even if he didn't put up a fight.

They should have given Tullius a final form to spike things up.

Exploration, lore, freedom and roleplay. That's what kept me playing years after release.

The Colonel said it for me. I have Skyrim on PC, 360, and PS3 because reasons. Morrowind is still my favorite of the lot though. The beautiful scenery (in Skyrim especially) is just an enjoyable side benefit.

When does that come out again?

And yes, I do too. Even if admittedly, half of the metaphysical talk in TES lore is pretentious and convoluted for the sake of being convoluted, lol, it's still hella interesting and gives one plenty to dive into. Dragon age needs more legends, stories. Need to expand on the avvar too. Their issue is they tend to expand on a few things at a time instead of extending that reach in all directions. There's plenty of potential, especially in the dwarven side, and especially since they all seem tied in one way or another. Which was the best thing lorewise about inquisition to me. It made that very clear with the astrariums.

But they're taking too long a time to give us too little information.

May I believe.

I think they also said it will include stuff not in game - specifically the lands beyond the continent of Thedas.  So that will be very cool.  But yeah, I agree they tend to not go very deep with what they have, just more world building stuff.

And they have something that I sorely miss from Dragon Age Origins:

If you like animal crossing, I made some morrowind clothes for you to play with:

I can't play morrowind again, it feels weird playing an outdated game. which is why i want to see skywind so badly.

Indeed. As of now, Solstheim will suffice. That's the kind of DLC I want to see from Inquisition. More like an expansion. Especially shivering Isles.

While I do wish they'd expand more on the lore, since I get the feeling it's very well-developed and it's just being parceled out slowly...

I have a new appreciation for DA's abundance of lore thanks to Dark Souls:lol: My friend that I put on all the worst paths in Origins is getting his revenge by explaining why killing that one boss was a terrible thing, but the lore-nerds there have had to build with less than breadcrumbs.

I am not yet through with Dark Souls. But I personally like that Japanese approach. DA and TES throw endless texts in my face that I don't want to read. But DS, or Dragon's Dogma which I loved to death, leave you in the black, helpless. You are forced to find the bits and pieces and assemble them yourself. In DD when I came to the island and suddenly found parts of information that I could put together like a puzzle, I was so amazed. First time I actually went hunting for information, genuinely interested in every new entry. To finally see something shine through, to slowly understand what was actually going on... And DS seems similar, though I have not gotten far enough yet to judge.

I stopped playing Dark Souls after I died six times in the prologue.

Don't say you're the type of person who gives up when things get difficult. *puppy eyes*

Morrowind took more hours from me than Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 3 combined.

Dem Redoran.  Dat Telvanni.  The Hlaalu.  ^_^  The ever manly Caius Cosades.  B)

...I may have to find my old disc and reinstall the old girl.

Damn you all.

pretty sure part of the reason you spent more was because of lack of fast travel and sh*ty quest task descriptions.

 Those are awesome! As much as I love Morrowind, I'm like you, I can't play it anymore. I've tried on numerous occasions and failed.

Ha ha! I regret nothing! Well it takes longer to get around in Morrowind and there's no quest hand holding. I became reliant on console commands to give myself those scrolls that teleport you to the nearest temple to help cut travel time. I'd also give myself rings of Mark and Recall and abused the Hell out of that. It's still installed on my PC in some vain hope I'll take another crack at it for old times sake.

And because you spent the first part of the game missing your hits, lol.

And cliffracers.

Ugh I HATED that! Console command all my skills to 100 right from the start. That was another reason I got hooked on using console commands. Don't even get me started on Cliffracers. Nasty, filthy, annoying shits.

OT: Solas

I used the 30 Mark and Recall mod, as well as a variety of other Fast Travel ones. :P

All of the mods.

I admittedly wouldn't have spent as much time on Morrowind if it wasn't for the lovely mods.

In the continuing saga of me making DA characters in all of the games, I'm figuring out how to make a good Holy Warrior Andraste in Dark Souls:lol: I think that may count as blasphemy.

EDIT: I don't wanna talk about cliffracers. :( Those flying horrors nuked my old computer's framerate. I ran, and eventually flew, across all of Vvardenfell to get away from them.
