I agree.  DA2 was not ideal, I mean you could at least play as a female but I think the lack of race choice hurt that game.  I was being sarcastic about the customization being bad thing.

I'm glad you clarified that, for a minute I was about finished writing a ranty post of the importance of character representation.

I think Dorian's killed all the others and stole their power.  It's why he was cut from the game - too OP.

I can think of ways other races could work in DA2 but with the short development time it had human or nothing was the best BW could do imo.

they made a space for themselves and populated it with their own creative projects so i say right on, if you want to write a story about how your lavellan is the reincarnated elven halla princess attending a modern university with professor solas than god speed you beautiful little acorn.

I started writing fanfiction when I was 14.  Harry Potter fanfiction.  It was about as terrible and magical princess-y as it gets.  Like if someone found it nowadays and managed to attribute it to me, I would probably just die of shame.  But between the community and just the act of writing, it made me a stronger writer beyond just fanfiction.  College, for example, was about ten times easier because I'd gotten so comfortable with writing, sharing my writing, and accepting lots of input and critique.

Unless you ship Geralt/Iorveth, of course. That's superior.

But yeah, I love the customization and freedom DA offers. It's just frustrating knowing how much extra work is put into it, and how it can limit certain things.
