On-topic question for the thread - Which companion's interactions with Solas are your favorite and why? By far my favorite is Solas/Cole for obvious reasons. Still trying to make up my mind regarding second place.
For my first PT, I went nowhere without Cassandra and Solas, and would have either Varric or Dorian as the other party member, interchangeably. So, I was pleasantly surprised by the respectful way Cass and Solas related to each other, and the kind, curious open mindedness they displayed regarding one another's beliefs and opinions.
During my second PT, I tried to switch out party members more, with Solas being the exception (sorry bae, you are doomed to follow me everywhere for all time... until you leave. Jerk). BullxSolas banter is fantastic, for reasons already mentioned--that glorious chess match, oh man--and SeraxSolas banter is pretty entertaining too. I didn't have Cole in my party much, to my great shame (I'm all the dual-wield rogue I need, for the most part), but I did love their banter when I experienced it.
I'd say Dorian and Solas as well, were it not also so uncomfortably frustrating to listen to. Seriously Solas, do you not see how hard the poor guy is trying? He wants to be better, and he's repeatedly reaching out to you with a surprising amount of respect. Cut him some slack and stop being such a big dick face. *throws self bodily over Dorian and deflects Solas' cutting words with burning eyes of WTFU ACTUALLY DOIN' U DINK >:C* In conclusion: BFF Dorian.
So, a question for all of you.
Do you think, if the last scene with Solas and Mythal had never happened and those ending tarot card didn't exist, that we would eventually have come to the conclusion that Solas was Fen'Harel anyways?
<snip>
I personally wouldn't have without outside input, I'm ashamed to say. Looking back, I was so unbelievably dense when it came to the HUGE amount of foreshadowing and clues surrounding both Solas and Blackwall. It kinda blows my mind just how blind to it I was.
In my defense, I'd like to wager that in real life that wouldn't have been the case, because unlike Lavellan, who due to stupid game mechanics is all "Yup, I will accept this without further questioning! ^_^", I would be like "WHAT, whaddya mean you were in a war?! Tell me more! How do you know about this from the fade? Tell me more! TELL ME ALL THE THINGS. Where are you from, what was it like growing up there? Who were your friends, WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE THIS, THE FADE, TAKE ME THERE AND SHOW ME THESE THINGS, TELL ME OF YOUR LIFE IN EXCRUCIATING DETAIL, BABY DOLL."
I also have a very good bullshit detector in real life, and am generally a good judge of character and accidental non-verbal communication, which is obviously far less nuanced in video games. He'd have to dump me far, far sooner than poor sap Lavellan in order to keep all his stupid secrets to himself.
Edit: Apologies for wall of text and caps lock spam. I got excited.
