The mother is terrifying but I find her quite sad.  I think we talked about this many many pages back, but i think the darkspawn are pretty much a hive mind. They answer the call. The song.  It gives them direction -- a purpose. A wholeness.  The Architect severs the mother from that when he gives her 'consciousness'.  It drives her insane.  It may even be worse for broodmothers just because of what they are.  So the song is silent.  There is no sense of "belonging". She is alone.   I wouldn't side with her becuase of that. She's unhinged but I kind of feel for her a bit.

I was too busy being grossed out to care how it felt, tbh. All the more reason to put her down quick.

I'd want to be a mage fighting that in real life. Warriors and rogues obviously have to get close.. (unless an archer)... and I really don't want to at all... what if a boob brushes up on me or something. Ew.

That's similar reasoning behind Celtic and Germanic warriors fighting in the nude. :P

ROMAN GENERAL: Don't waste your arrows on those morons.

ROMAN ARCHER: What was that?

ROMAN CENTURION: He said, 'Shoot down every last bouncing Gaul before they get here!'

Bonus as a Mage, if she does somehow manage to touch you with one of her many flailing boobs, you can set yourself on fire really easily!

I don't really think the Irish need much of a reason to get drunk.

Nor do we Germans... Father's Day, for example, is not spent, as you might assume, with your kids. Nooo!!! Fathers meet and get drunk together. Many drag a handcart filled with beer around. So I guess we Germans celebrate Sucks To Be A Father Day.

St. Patrick's Day is getting popular in Germany too. One more occasion to get drunk with good reason. I wonder why they even bother to make up excuses...

I used to be catholic. Fortunately my family (except for my grandma) never cared about going to church except on Christmas Eve. Worst hour of the year. I have fond memories of my grandma singing very loudly though.

This actually makes a ton of sense. I did it the first time since I've been pro mage freedom since Origins and as a Dalish elf, she had no reason not to back freedom/self-governance. Been waffling  whether to take the Templar option  on my mage just to experience it, but she's also Dalish and a mage and I explained this before anyway. So I think I'll be going through IHW again really soon.

I took the templar option with my Lavellan not out of any sentiment on the mage-templar thing, but because of something Cullen said.  He points out that you have no backup plan at all going into Redcliffe.  You know there's timey wimey wibbly wobbly magic involved, no one's exactly clear on how it works, and if things go badly, the Inquisition loses its only way of sealing the Breach.  So my Lavellan went to the templars figuring it couldn't possibly be worse.

As it turns out, it was just as FUBAR.  But that's ok, she got a Cole out of it

Let us not forget banishing all the snakes from Ireland! This was important.

I am predominantly Irish/Scottish, which is basically Catholic vs. Protestant. We had some fun times growing up! My grandmothers, one native scott and the other american-Irish, spent most days arguing with one another. Both named Margaret. Irish Margaret loathed Scottish Margaret. Scottish Margaret was rude but never realized how much Irish Margaret hated her.

[And when she did she didn't give a damn.]

Getting Cole first kind of fits my plans better anyway since I want as close to a full run with Solas and Cole in my party as possible. I missed so much of their great banter because I left Cole behind so much since I was enough rogue for my party.

Speaking of canon/crazy fangirling. I played around with just Solas and Cole with me doing cleanup on my canon save (shards and things) and  I wanted, needed, the post-breakup banter to trigger. I've heard it many times already but it was like SHE NEEDS TO EXPERIENCE THIS to be complete, even though it affects nothing. It finally did yesterday.

James Norton did such a wonderful job as Cole. If we're praising nuance.

So, is anyone else replaying Jade Empire just to hang out with Honest Solas Sagacious Zu?

"Yes, I have a shady past. Let me get that out of the way moments after meeting you. Also, my concept art had me bald but I ended up with this cool shaved bun thing instead. Now, let's go solve problems with wisdom and/or ruthless pragmatism!"

Sorry. Had to quote. You posted my man ZUUUUUUUUUUU!

(And yes....myself and at least one other, drew the comparisons between Solas and Zu. ;) )

I once went to a Saint Patrick's Day parade out of pure curiosity. I'm not even a bit Irish as far back as I know, and while my whole family is Catholic, I left that behind. Last year I did green eye makeup, but that's kind of my whole connection.

Oh yeah. She was SUPER gross. My only thought was "OMG KILL IT WITH FIRE THEN BURN MY EYES OUT".  Though, once the final boob flopped its last, I was able to collect my thoughts and meditate on her sad plight.  My Cousland was thoughtful.

I'm half German. My mother's family all lives there.  I lived there when I was very young.  I seem to recall only going to church on Christmas Eve as well and my Oma singing very loud.

But I absolutely hate alcohol, which is odd I suppose. My mother refuses to celebrate St. Patrick's Day because she isn't Irish.

I think its a fantastic choice of irony. Why wouldn't you want to buy it to see what a Solas tea would taste like? That's probably what it tastes like. Irony.

And I totally understand. Most of the (more or less fresh) fathers I know would choose to do that every day. Limiting it to one day a year is a picture-perfect compromise.

There are loads of fandom tea blends on Adagio. It's smart that they embraced fan communities like that. The person who made the Solas tea blend is one of the site's most successful and reputable blenders.

The first tea I ever bought from Adagio was a fandom blend. Though not by Cara McGee.

I want some of the Fade hooch that he carries around in his hobo gear. Or... maybe I don't.
