Okay, so, apparently you're supposed to get a "Solas slightly approves" when you kill the demon controlling the wolf pack, but this is my 4th playthrough and I've never gotten it. Anyone else got it or have screenshots to show?

When I first played the game and before I talked about it with anyone, I had this really depressing headcanon that my Lavellan has awful nightmares, basically PTSD level, from everything she's seen and done in her short time as Inquisitor. After a few months, something strange starts to happen- a wolf appears in her dreams, driving away the monsters that populate it. She doesn't really understand what the wolf is/who it is, but she knows she feels the deepest peace she's felt in a long, long time when it appears. 

 

... It's a rather literal interpretation of Solas, but I guess if he were to visit her in dreams, he also probably wouldn't want to show up and be like "HEY BABE IT'S ME SORRY I ABANDONED YOU." 

 

I think I wrote a little short story about it and everything? I don't really remember.

Has anyone noticed how his nose seems to have been broken at some point... I wonder how that happened?

 

Do you think? I think he just has a defined, aquiline nose, with a high, wide bridge. Healed broken noses are visibly asymmetrical and kind of swollen looking, and Solas' nose looks pretty symmetrical and straight, from what I can see.

 

He’s thinking strategy, how they should address the next encounter, distribute their forces for the best advantage.

He is distracted by a touch on his jaw… Perhaps it has begun to snow, but no, it is her fingers, her strong archer’s fingers, and she turns his face towards her.
Oh, it is such a long time since someone has claimed him like this so boldly, so brazenly… He’s always surprised by the strength of his reaction to her, the suddenness, he feels his whole body surge in response, then he does what he knows best…

He closes his eyes and lets her take him.

 

I'm still out of likes, damn it. But I like this.

 

So, I have tea information for anyone who was curious about those dragon age teas! I'm in the process of getting all of them. If there's any interest, I'll try to post a review for the others too.

 

But first is Solas tea, which is a blended tea. [Lapsang souchong, Irish Breakfast, Masala Chai and cloves. ] 

 

DISCLAIMER: I am no tea expert, just a dumb person.

THE TIN:

 

 

The tin is very cute! Just a simple metal adagio tin with a slid top. It clicks closed, but it might pop off if you tried to get rough with it. The tea isn't held in by anything but the lid, so be sure to tap the tin once or twice to make sure the tea has settled before opening it.

 

You could definitely reuse the tins for other things. They are of a decent size, slightly bigger than a matchbox. Looks like there's enough tea inside for 5ish cups of tea. This is just the sampler size. 

 

STEP 1:

[ Brewed for about five-ish minutes with two and a half teaspoons of tea. It comes out very red! ] 

 

 

STEP 3:

[ My preferred way of drinking tea is adding in a shot of milk and honey. ]

Verdict:

 

This is a really, really nice tea. Definitely the sort of tea that I would order again. Some reviewers on the site mentioned that the smell of the loose tea leaves was 'overpowering'...I didn't really find it any more smelly than the usual tea. If you are unused to the smell of cloves you might be surprised I suppose. 

 

It does skew a bit more bitter than sweet, even with honey. But it has a very nice cinnamon aftertaste. I would not recommend this for someone who was not already a tea drinker as it does have a very 'tea' sort of taste. Solas would HATE this tea. It is stated to be 'high caffeine', and I can feel it.

Why yes, I believe you can. They WOULD be cute together. Then again, I think Scout Harding would be cute with just about anyone. It's probably the freckles.

   She had nightmares in the time after. Did the others? Lavellan didn’t know, didn’t dare ask. There was so much she kept close to her own skin now, afraid that if she were to show the smallest weakness the overwhelming faith everyone had put into her would diminish, and this fragile new world would splinter and crack.

 

    In her dreams, there was red. It came from mouths, from wounds that gaped open like cracks in the earth. It was all her fault. If the red didn’t come from her bow, it came from her actions. Before her, friends and family died again and again, and upon waking she did not even get the consolation that they were still alive. It should have been Solas, holding her as he once did, but he was gone and her bed was empty and cold.

 

    Sleep cannot be avoided, no matter how much one wishes it so. Lavellan spent countless late nights trying to understand political treaties and machinations that went far beyond her sheltered Dalish life, spent all day training hard to maintain her own combat readiness, but sleep came, and with it came the dreams of red and death.

 

    For a month she feared sleep. The bags under her eyes grew and her skin, already pale, grew excessively wan. She rubbed at the spot her vallaslin had been at. Her sadness was not sweet- it was frequently angry and irritable, though she took it out only on herself, and never on those that remained close to her.

 

    Just when she thought her sanity would run out, Lavellan’s dreams changed. It happened one night, and continued in a pattern from there on afterward. The dreams started as usual. She was trapped in an endless battlefield in the Arbor Wilds. The place’s beauty was shattered by the red on the leaves, so stark against all the greenery. Red Templars, twisted to the point of inhumanity, lurked behind every tree, while a continuous, booming laughter was the only noise that could be heard.

 

    Then things abruptly changed. The laughter stopped, and the Templars fell back. Out of the forest bound a wolf, pure black, much larger than anything Lavellan had seen in life. She should have feared it, but she felt a curious affection instead. It drove the Templars away, almost as if it were protecting her, its body constantly between her own and the abominations. They backed off immediately, intimidated in a way that spoke well of the wolf, suggested he had a power far beyond that of an ordinary animal.

 

    Slowly, the sound of bird song trickled in. The blood was still there, but the red was overshadowed by the green. Even the sun seemed brighter, reaching through the leaves in new ways to dapple the ground softly.

 

    The wolf began to move away, looking over his shoulder at her as he went. This was a dream, right? Dreams didn’t have to obey logic. Hesitantly, but with increasing confidence, Lavellan followed. What happened next she didn’t remember, but she awoke with a smile on her face.

Oh wow...I think I stared at this a little longer than I like to admit.  Hot damn, I love Flycam *fans self*

 

I love how they captured facial expressions in this game, not just limited to Solas and the Inquisitor, I really felt the raw EMOTION in the scenes.  I love it when they take the time to do that, it really brings the personality to the characters.  The only thing is it feels too real, seeing my Lavellan looking like a sad and lost puppy as Solas walked away is something I never want to see again, it physically hurt me 

 

On topic: I  his face so much, he has the classic angular shape of an elf. The nose, the chin, dat jaw...so pretty...

 

I feel this. Especially the bit about madness. I am pretty sure it's the lack of solid DLC news that's doing me in right now. My mind starts running away from me with all the possibilities regarding Solas' future, and before long I'm talking about wearing body parts.

 

Step one: Play DA:I; fall in unexpected love with Solas

Step two: Lurk in forum thread devoted to Solas

Step three: Get heart broken by Solas; cry

Step four: Re-play DA:I in exact same fashion; make account and de-lurk on forum for the soul purpose of commiserating in wondrous misery

Step five: Draw Solas and Lavellan being cute and stuff; maybe contribute to the odd serious discussion

Step six: Post progressively weirder things on forum, increasing number of animated gifs, only tangibly related to Solas

Step seven: Find self desiring to fashion jewellery out of fictional beau's skeletal remains

Step eight: Remove self from society; find a nice corner; stay there forever.

Can step five be writing Slovellan stuff too? My creativity is really going for it lately, tragedy makes the best stories xD

I feel as if I'm now currently on step seven...I find myself fishing out my old fur waistcoat to wear, now all I need is that pretty jawbone necklace to try and emulate the look. Am I crazy? I think I may be... 

 

Here is my crash guide to surviving--nay, thriving--in the Solavellan hellspiral:

 

1) Find an island in the hellspiral.  It can be smut, fluff, filthy filthy sex, or something else altogether.  Mine is the Island of Dorian, Best Mage.  Go to your island whenever the feels are too much.

 

2) Proper equipment is the key!  You need a very robust pool floatie.  Mine looks like a giant rubber duck covered in kitten gifs, but there's also the inflatable d*ldo of Falon's Din.  Your personal hellspiral flotation device can be anything you like.

 

3) Flippers help you explore other hellspirals and become a true master of the environment.  The red lyrium flippers take you to the Samson hellspiral, the golden ones to Abelas.  The glittery ones to the glitterotica hellspiral, but putting those flippers on costs 1d4 max sanity each time.

 

4) Learn the signs that herald the appearance of the Greater Feels Demon, also known as The Weekes.  Just flee to your island whenever this creature turns up, and ride out the storm of tears in its wake.

I have one similar to this in my head..I haven't written it yet.  While Lavellan is lost in the Fade, right after the explosion and also after trying to close the rift for the first time. Solas sits next to her, trying to heal her and wake her up. She is having nightmares, spiders are chasing her. A white wolf shows up and chases all the spiders away. She has restful sleep after and finally wakes up before the mark kills her. Something like that anyway. I'll write it eventually.

While we have the Stone, I think we're missing another deity - the Sun. The legend goes: "Long ago, when time itself was young, the only things in existence were the sun and the land. The sun, curious about the land, bowed his head close to her body, and Elgar'nan was born in the place where they touched. The sun and the land loved Elgar'nan greatly, for he was beautiful and clever. As a gift to Elgar'nan, the land brought forth great birds and beasts of sky and forest, and all manner of wonderful green things. Elgar'nan loved his mother's gifts and praised them highly and walked amongst them often. The sun, looking down upon the fruitful land, saw the joy that Elgar'nan took in her works and grew jealous... Eventually Elgar'nan threw the sun down from the sky and buried him in a deep abyss created by the land's sorrow... Humbled, Elgar'nan went to the place where the sun was buried and spoke to him. Elgar'nan said he would release the sun if the sun promised to be gentle and to return to the earth each night. The sun, feeling remorse at what he had done, agreed".

As it often happens with myth, we should look past metaphors. But I assume, that  this "deep abyss" may very well be the Void, where the Sun, humbled, defeated and jealous, has to return each night. Then we have this part, where Elgar'Nan is Eldest of the Sun. Meaning, there may have been other children, and I think they are the Forgotten Ones, born in the Void after the Sun's defeat.

 

Now we also have history, repeating itself in Thedas, the very same pattern happens over and over again.

Firstly, Tyrdda's story. I will not repeat Liz's analysis, but I ship her interpretation about Thelm being Dirthamen, and that the Golden City is Arlathan, and he wants to take it for himself. He fails miserably, kills Mythal while she's dreamsexing in the Fade with Tyrdda and so on. Then something FH themed happens, all elven gods go radio silent. I'm very sceptical about The Betrayal legend, mostly because of how Solas reacts to it, when mentioned by Morrigan in the Temple of Mythal. We also know from codex, that The Dalish use "harellan" to mean "traitor to one's kin," but the word does not appear in any elven text before the Towers Age. It may be that FH actually tried to save his kin by sealing them away.

 

Secondly, here comes Black City assault thingie. We know, how it goes. It is heavily implicated, that the blood ritual, needed for that, happened in Kirkwall. Elven slaves were brought in there by the thousands to work the stone quarries, and Corypheus's Memories tell us he needed elven blood to enter the Fade. Anyways, something went wrong with this too, because the Black City is still out there, shut tightly, and presumed Old Gods also went radio silent for the time being. Funny coincidence, no?

 

And then we have our Andraste. Her father was the chieftain of one of the largest Alamarri tribes, so she may be Tyrdda's descendant, with dreamer abilities. And she saw the Maker in her dreams blah blah, then he invited her to join him at his side. It sounds painfully familiar, let me cite Tyrdda's stanza: ""Be my bride and cross the Waking, eat the gilded city's fill". This was also covered by Liz, so just a remider. Point is, she marched to Tevinter, my guess - to use Kirkwall as ancient magisters did, to enter the freaking Fade.

Even though I only wrote it two weeks ago, it's not something I'd write now. I'm kind of tired of the 'Solas as a literal wolf' trope, so... my bad.

Why not both? Mess with perception! Encased in the shadows the wolf appears black, but then a beam of sunlight spears the darkness as the wolf runs, and for a moment as the lupine breaks through the light, the fur is revealed to be white all along, before once more disappearing back into the black.

 

I think it suits Solas's character. :>

 

I thought about writing this/drawing this but I'm in a writer's block right now and don't have the skill with colouring to properly draw it.

Mine has the nightmares too, but Solas is nowhere to be found.  My interpretation of him leaving is that he's gone in every form, including the Fade, because he wouldn't be able to stop himself from coming back if he saw her in pain.  So she has to sort it out herself, with some help from Varric, Cole, and the Anchor.  It takes a while since my Lavellan isn't a mage, but she eventually trains herself to be lucid in the Fade.  She can't manipulate it like Solas or a mage, but she's at least aware that she's dreaming, and that goes a long way toward easing the nightmares.
