I like all of this, but by far my favorite bit is 'Eldest of the Sun'. The Creators' basically being Elgar'nan and his children quarreling with their uncle Forgotten Ones is all kinds of amazing and makes perfect sense.

I'm in agreement with much of the Tyrdda stuff. I thought that Kirkwall was set up to summon the Forbidden Ones, Imshael and co., as it was constructed centuries before the Black City Assault, and from the Codexes, it sounds like Kirkwall/Emerius was built from the ground up for that purpose. *shrug* I'm a little rusty on that area, though. It's not clear to me if the Alamarri ever seized Emerius, or if they conquered the territory around it. They got much of the Free Marches and advanced into Tevinter, but I think Nevarra was as far north as they ever occupied.

I like the added addition of Andraste being driven by a Dreamer in a similar fashion to Dirthamen and Tyrdda. Especially because, whether they were aiming for Minrathous or Arlathan, the Alamarri failed. Goddammit, Tevinter.

Though it's said Forbidden Ones appeared around 4:2 Black and brought art of blood magic, but I guess it may have happened earlier.

About the Almarri - there is this delicious little codex, found in Nightmare's realm

Spoiler

These keepers of fear statues look exactly like red lyrium idol. My idea was that the Almarri somehow corrupted the Stone with their fear. But it doesn't exactly add up with "spawn of darkness" part.

I get a "Solas approves" when I hand it in, which surprised me when I was first played through since it seemed over the top for a side quest that had nothing to do with him. I don't recall ever getting approval when you actually kill it though.

Ah, I edited my post but I guess it didn't go through. x_X I got the "Solas Approves" for handing it in, and I agree it is an unusually high approval considering the rest are "slightly approves" for helping actual people, but at the same time I'm not surprised that was one of the things that flew over most people's heads on a first playthrough.

I'm of two minds on this.  On one hand, Solas is the older, wiser, and more powerful of the two.  There's nothing wrong with Lavellan learning from him, and benefitting from his experience (IN THE BEDROOM AMIRITE).  On the other hand, she needs to be able to stand for herself after he's gone.  IMO for the relationship to ever be anything approaching healthy, his strength needs to complement hers and help her grow, rather than becoming a crutch for her.  This is especially true for muggle!Lavellan, who has no magical training and is likely more dependent on his expertise at the start.

I think most of us can definitely agree to this, and I think it's what makes me cringe on fics/pics where Solas and Lavellan refer to one another as hahren/da'len constantly. It puts them on uneven footing, which is definitely how it is at the start (and thus appropriate for the game to use it), but afterwards - and especially once they're officially in a relationship - it becomes inappropriate (IMO anyway, I can see why others might disagree).

Lavellan is the Inquisitor afterall, she's a leader! Ain' no one her hahren! I headcanon my girl calls Solas hahren only once seriously, to follow canon, but any other time she uses it when being sarcastic with him. My Lavellan is a sassy little ****. x)

Also I love the phrase muggle!Lavellan, thank you for that. xD

Oh man, I completely forgot about that!  My headcanon (and playthrough) has her clan in Wycome as part of the council.  I dread to think what would happen if she showed up with no vallaslin...

"Da'len, what happened to your face?"
"I don't know!  I just woke up like this!" *shifty eyes*

My girl's got it all worked out. "So I fell out of the Fade, with this mark on my hand *lets it sizzle* and my Vallaslin was just gone! Even the embarrassing one that jerk did on my butt for a bet!"  Okay so the last bit may not have happened. She can say what she likes, no one from her clan comes to see her!

I may have watched and/or overanalyzed all of this entirely too much.

Excuse you, little comment, there's no such thing as over-analyzing anything. :P

I took pity on poor man and went Cullen route. I respect his privacy. Kind of.

I always give him the evidence I find. I'd feel bad for going around his back, but I might do it this time around to see the War table mission. :P

Just got back and started reading. Had to ask, how does one hate Halla? LOL :P

Then again, I hate... no, no I don't hate any cute animals really :P

I can imagine living with them your whole life catering and trying to look after such dumb animals, constantly getting in trouble for losing them or having to chase them when they wander to far....I hate them so much more already...especially the golden one that you have the option to bring back to the dalish and i do it every time even though i know i'm gunna bash my head against my controller because it takes me like 500000000000 years.

But yeah. I don't like halla. And dalish are boring.

I'm still poring over Alamarri theories and those statues. The dwarven statues Fairel made in the Western Approach that seem to depict darkspawn are also curious, since I thought he left a long time before the First Blight?

4:2 Black? That can't be right, can it? The Neromenian Dreamers had a handle on blood magic well over a thousand years before that, and the Chantry had been hunting blood mages and maleficar in general for four centuries. Wasn't it that some people theorize that the Forbidden Ones were the ones who taught the Neromenians, and not the Old Gods?

Hrrm.

Oh I don't know, you don't think the dread wolf will see through a few feeble Orleisian feints?

He's gone toe to toe with a pantheon of deities after all...

I think it's less that and more that it hurts coming from Lavellan specifically.  My Lavellan had a tendency to wear her heart on her sleeve, and she pretty much stops doing that after Solas breaks up with her.  She took his advice about hardening her heart to a cutting edge rather too well

But yeah. I don't like halla. And dalish are boring.

I started liking the Dalish *after* DA:I, the game where their culture, lore, and history got ripped to shreds.  I may be a tad perverse.

Here's a visual aid of said downward spiral.

This is me. I don't even know who I'm shipping anymore. There was the Solas Hellspiral. And then the Samson Hellspiral. And then the Fairbae semi-Hellspiral. And now I'm in the 9th circle of hellspiral with the Corypheus/Architect pre-blight magister hellspiral.

HALP!

Like I said - doesn't make sense, but DA2 codex states, that "In 4:2 Black is the oldest account of the Forbidden Ones, though most mages consider them a hoax. But someone had to make that first deal, that first contact with the other side. From the unknown mage's account"

Just Abelas hellspiral. Well, it's not so much a hellspiral as it is a tea party. It's very nice. You should join us.

I'm debating injuring him terribly It's really safe and lovely.

Ah I see. Yea that makes sense. Reminds me of Dean in Supernatural, resentful towards Sam for having to take care of him. The responsibility of watching a brother when a parent is missing, it's like you have a child already without being irresponsible.

I can see that. And your writing isn't difficult to want to read btw, meaning I don't have to make myself keep reading it. Sometimes even stories I want to read are like pulling teeth to get through it nowadays.

I guess it's saying that someone had to make that first demon pact with the other side at some point, not necessarily that 4:2 Black is the first time. :) Maybe. I dunno.   :(

And then I just got this weird head-canon that the spirits are the children of the Sun, and that the Forgotten Ones are the most powerful of his children, and the Forbidden Ones are the most powerful of the purely spirit children.

Actually, that's not a half-bad headcanon.

Sam's nickname is Moose for a reason.  He's an American Halla.

EDIT: According to their Codex entry, the Forbidden Ones are believed to be older than the Tevinter Imperium. That's pretty dang old. Time for research! :D

Stable troll. You forgot that you don't want a stable troll.

I still think Zevran is probably the closest you're going to get to a stable husbando. Though apparently my Warden is freaking dead in this playthrough, so who knows what Zevran is doing now. I swear I marked it as 'Warden lives' and I just got a line of dialogue "I knew the Hero of Ferelden before she died." WHAT IS THIS. I SAID SHE LIVED.
