Agreed.  It's by no means perfect, but BioWare is IMO one of the best studios when it comes to representation, and the developers take great pains to be thoughtful and inclusive.  So it's always a little strange when I see people reaching for the torches and pitchforks.  Surely we want to encourage BioWare to be responsive toward the fans and inclusive in their games, not scare them off the idea.

 

Yeah, this. Big time. People are weird. "No, no, no. This is the WRONG kind of inclusive! I want this game to cater exactly to my very specific needs, within the exact parameters I imagine! *tantrum*"

 

I honestly feel bad for the Bioware writers. They really do go out of their way to make the games as inclusive as possible, and while this should be something every studio does, it's not. They're one of the only studios I can think of that has a character with a chronic illness, which is awesome. They do extremely well with representing different sexualities, and their race representation isn't bad either. But it's just never quite enough- there's always /something/ they're missing that people are going to jump on and focus on, so instead of being celebrated as being extremely progressive, they're derided for what they've missed. 

 

And this. Also, I would read the hell out of a fic where the Inquisitor is coping with an illness, as you mentioned in your other post. Please let me know if you decide to write one.

Excuse me, but my understanding is that word of Weekes applies to whether or not Solas and Lavellan had sex… Not to whether or not Solas is asexual.

 

For the record I believe he is clearly sexual and this goes beyond head canon, apparently the definition of asexual covers people who do not respond to sexual stimuli, asexuality is not the same as chastity or celibacy, it is not a life choice, it is biological. We all know from that famous gif that Solas clearly does, his pupils dilate, he closes his eyes he turns his head he opens his mouth to receive the kiss and he responds, enthusiastically to it…

 

However they like to argue it, these are not the traits of an asexual character.

Reads clear to me, though I can sort understand how people can headcanon otherwise. It's not like asexual people have to be aromantic, but to me it reads clear form the beginning and the sheer whoa....hot surprise of this was what sealed Solas for me.

In reality you make a good point, but in reality I think a lot of the writers hesitate to confirm or deny things like this because it doesn't help much. There will always be people who are going to argue their headcanon is true no matter what the writers say about it, and when the writers get involved all it does is point this headcanon vitriol at the writers instead. I can understand why they would prefer to avoid the topic.

 

 

I'm glad I didn't sound rude, but I think I sounded a bit angrier than I intended.  It was reminding me too much of the time I saw someone argue that Leliana (canonically prefers ladies) was straight because they played as a male Warden and romanced her as a man (despite her personal quest being about tracking down her ex-girlfriend).  And the time I saw arguments that Isabela and Iron Bull (yes, really) were straight.  Iron 'Hit on Blackwall and Cass, can hook up with Dorian' Bull was argued to be straight.

What color blood do the dragons have? Do they even have blood? I'm rewatching the vinsomer battle and it's so oddly bloodless, but I would assume that there's something there. I would equally assume that it doesn't necessarily have to be red, but it seems weird that there isn't anything at all.

Killed a dragon recently! And it's red. You can stagger then by shooting at the same leg constantly, and you know you're getting close when the leg you're shooting gets bloody. It's red.

There is a resourse called dragon blood in DAI, and it's red liquid, contained in vials.
