I was going to answer like you but decided to just comment that no matter what gets decided, people can always headcanon it differently. Because this is what I will do if for some reason Weekes decides to make Solas an ace. My Solas will still be a sexy Elven God
Yeah, I don't think Weekes would ever confirm Solas' sexuality because he wants to keep it ambiguous for all the fans, which is wonderful :3 He also said it's ambiguous about whether or not Solas had "fade nookie" with spirits lol I was just going to leave my comment as "I'd like his sexuality ambiguous" but the fade tongue slipped in there (I also had a few drinks last night so I was a bit kooky too!) I didn't think it was bad, but I'm willing to learn to be more prudent of my sexual comments in the future.
I never saw Solas as ae when I played the game, but then again I got the fade tongue line, the getting-you-into-bed-side-benefit line, the dominant-you-mage-yes-side-benefits-again line so lol I was very convinced Solas was sexual (perhaps demi), especially with how passionate and physical his kisses were. Doesn't mean he had sex with Lavellan (I didn't believe they did on my first playthrough because I figured they hadn't reached that level yet and he was probably going to make love to her after telling her the truth). But that's just how it appeared to me. I love ambiguity :3

I kind of love how things can be interpreted so differently too. My interpretation was that they totally did have sex, and I didn't know at the time that there was no actual sex scene. I try to avoid spoilers, though I got spoiled on him being Fen'Harel right before What Pride Had Wrought. Stupid me accidentally reading the wiki on something. though, honestly, that timing on the spoilers made me pay very close attention in the temple and it almost made the breakup slightly easier (slightly!) since I knew the thing most people didn't until the game was over.
Still, I took his very passionate and physical nature and the little comments here and there and their body language and took it one way but it's also pretty interesting to see how everyone else interpreted the same stuff.
Just wanted to share with you guys this interesting post I saw on Tumblr regarding Solas and his encounter with the Dalish.
I’m sure this has been noticed, but just to be redundant and say how much I both love and hate (in an impressed way) that all the signs are there for who Solas is.
Such as this ambient dialogue in the beginning with Lavellan, during the tiny banter tutorial bit.
Solas isn’t just referring to himself as just an elven apostate that gets turned away because he tries to share knowledge, something he does actually touch on later. But that Dalish superstition says that Fen’Harel himself cannot be trusted and so they attack Fen’Harel. Any knowledge given by Fen’Harel is a trick, nothing he said is to be trusted.
Take for example Merrill’s story with the Keeper and the courser, where Fen’Harel tries to tell the wisest and kindest Keeper to turn on Dalish beliefs (incorrect beliefs that we know now) and instead the Keeper basically sicced his courser on the Dread Wolf.
Basically Solas is telling Lavellan in the vaguest way possible that he is Fen’Harel, that he is attacked and discredited by the Dalish because of WHO he is.
So yes, by the Dread Wolf I love these small foreshadows and hints so much the second time through. May the Dread Wolf catch your scent.

The devs dangled about 100 different clues in front of our faces and still many of us didn't get it. It pleases and amuses me greatly.

I'm wondering if it's even worth it to, once again, say that I don't think the Dalish's current understanding of their past is "incorrect" so much as "incomplete." The scraps they have collected tend to veer toward correct, just with pieces missing so they don't get the whole picture. Solas even said he tried to share "knowledge" with them (not "corrections"), but they rebuked him because of who he is.
Otherwise, I agree. It's a great piece of foreshadowing right there at the start of the game.
(I'm a terrible detective though too. My character didn't even ask "What do you mean by 'crossed paths'?" She just assumed he was a fellow elf because he looked like an elf and said, "We are of the same people, Solas." If he did indeed approach past Dalish clans as Fen'Harel, he was probably thinking she was an idiot for judging his past situation by his current appearance and making a judgment call without knowing the whole story.)

The Dalish have also splintered off from one another and many are totally nomadic, so not only is some culture lost over time but individual clans also have their own interpretations and ways of life, which makes the whole thing much harder in terms of what was lost.
Whether you call the Dalish lore "incorrect" or "incomplete" is irrelevant. The info they do have is different from the truth. Which is totally understandable. After all, they've basically been playing a 1000+ year game of Telephone.
So, I went to do the the Easter Egg hunt for the Fairy in the tiniest cave and get my flower crown. I discovered that the Fairy has some interesting things to say if you wander away for a bit while jumping on his house. Here's what he told me:
"Bring faith. Bring hope. Bring a dream of life."
"He'll remake the world to suit his desires. His chosen to reign."
"Pulling back the curtain. Let the light in. Let it burn."

Now, that sounds at first brush like it could refer to Coryifish. But maybe it's another hidden reference to Fen'Harel?

But, logically speaking. It would have to be about Fen'Harel, or something else in the future. Otherwise why bother hiding it that deep?

As Mims says, since this is hidden so deep, maybe it's a hint to the next game's plot & antagonist.
Since I haven't run into Arl Foreshadow or anything, I'm assuming this is similar to that or to Sandal's prophecy.
Curtain could either be the Veil, or perhaps there is something Golden in the Black City. Perhaps it's the Sun.
'Chosen his to reign' is curious. Does it actually say that, or is it a subtitle error? If it's not an error, then I'd say this is about Fen'harel and definitely not Corypheus. Corypheus chose himself to reign, Fen'harel backed the Inquisitor and helped them in the aftermath of Haven to become the Inquisitor instead of just the figurehead and Rift-closer.

Supposed to be completing actual work things. Instead, watched more Solas romance videos for writing inspiration and did some writing/editing as a result. But...I think back to actual work things if I avoid the same distraction.
