I never took the dog anywhere in origins. It was a useless skill that took up space in my hotkeys in DA2, and I'm glad there isn't one in Inquisition....

I took the dog everywhere on my first origins play through. But mainly because it was my first play through and I basically messed up everything possible, I didn't talk to Leliana or Sten, Zevran betrayed me (so I went through the end of the game without a rogue), I didn't do the shale dlc, I wasn't paying attention and killed Wynne because I didnt want to lose approval with Morrigan, and again not paying attention, I made Alistair walk out.
