I really wanted to know how you guys role-played your elves actually. Normally I play humans so it was the first time I had to really think how she would respond to things . What were your elves temperaments like and what was their relationship like with Solas?
I've never played an elf before in Dragon Age, but I was tired of playing humans this time around. I took the in-game background and expanded upon it in my head. Given I played a rogue, she was a clan hunter and if chosen to be the clan's spy, that meant she had some achievements or talents and a life lived before this whole thing happened. I didn't pin down an age but I see her as maybe 30 or so, had loved before, had worked with her clan on preservation and rituals, but also open-minded and in great favor of freedom, which also seem very in line with being Dalish as well.
As far as a relationship to Solas, he was kind of mentor-ish at first with his knowledge, but she didn't see him as someone beyond an equal relationship. Obviously, I didn't know Solas' defining motivations were things like freedom and considering multiple sides of everything. So I felt like my Lavellan questioning him was just part of her character and her nature, and in her confidence.
Eventually, as it turned romantic, feeling like she was confident and maybe a little bold did mesh really well with those scenes, where she takes the lead. In my head this was definitely not the first person she had ever fallen in love with (which is another reason why my headcanon includes them having a physically intimate and sexual relationship). But this relationship was unique and his loss does hit her very hard.
To go with the new thread title, I've just brewed some tea. Harney & Sons Soho, which is a chocolate coconut black tea blend.
