Practice makes perfect, as they say.... all the beautiful Solas art is a good motivator though (for me at least).

I really wanted to know how you guys role-played your elves actually. Normally I play humans so it was the first time I had to really think how she would respond to things . What were your elves temperaments like and what was their relationship like with Solas?
I know I've been MIA for a bit, but i still read this and wanted to respond as I have put a lot of thought into my Lavellans.
I have two main ones right now: My cannon is Aspis a sword and board non-spec warrior. She is young, looks young, is and acts very innocent and naive, She loves everyone if she can and has real trouble with conflict. Varric and Blackwall help her out in her travels because Solas doesn't trust her. He can't believe she's not pulling an act. She adores him, but she is so naive that it takes her a while to realise what she feels, and she is gutted by how he treats her. She cried when they killed the wolves. She was devastated by the future redcliff castle and tried to kill alexius with her bare hands, She idolises Cassandra. I have written about 75 pages of her story so far, but I am maybe halfway done, ugh. I love her. Cole and Sky Watcher are her shadows and I have Abelas joining them early to watch over her. yeah, I'm a sap.
the other Lavellan is Nova and she is completely different. She's a dual dagger non-spec rogue who is older, much more worldly and is flirty, funny, and sarcastic. She's wanted to kiss, etc Solas since the intro. She flirts with Bull to ****** Solas off, and she was her Clan's bard so she sings in the tavern. She is going to have Solas' little Fen post -game (in my fiction) and I also have their son as a male lavellan character that I AU in a time travel fashion. Those two fics are much shorter than Aspis' but fun to write except that I can't write smut and so I'm stuck on Nova's right now. ![]()
I think your question may have gotten missed.
With all of the companion LI's, there are generally certain events that must happen before WE&WH, in order to trigger the dance with your LI. In Solas' case, you need to have done his personal quest, had him return to Skyhold, then talk to him to trigger the balcony scene in your Lavellan's bedroom at Skyhold. And of course - it goes without saying - that you take the romance options in the bedroom/balcony scene.
Not sure what the required scene/dialogue it is for Blackwall, since I have yet to romance him. Sorry.
Hope this answers your query. If you did all that, and didn't somehow break the romance prior (Blackwall can supposedly ninjamance players, if you flirt with him on the battlements, right after getting to Skyhold) then I suppose it could be a bug. However, most people know when they get ninjamanced, because they no longer have the heart options (and lovely kissing animations) from Solas, if they got "ninjamanced".
Yes, I thought my question was gonig to be missed. Thanks for responding.
As for my first playthrough, I probably didn't do enough with Blackwall before Wicked Eyes. This time, I didn't rush into it. I played through several landscapes first and did many inner circle quests before heading to the ball.
I believe I did complete Solas' inner circle quest of finding and helping his spirit friend prior to Wicked Eyes. Since I'm romancing him, I got it much earlier in the game than I did my first playthrough. I suppose that means I have a bug. Which probably means the next time I play, I'm gonna get Josephine again. ![]()
"We must mark the occasion of the Dalish remembering something correctly. Perhaps we should plant a tree."
ROFL I've not heard him say that one!Sarcastic/Ass Solas is so awesome.
I didn't get it the first time, but I played a little more superDalish with that conversation the second time.
It is such a hilarious line. I accepted the mild disapproval with a laugh.

I hope the next day he wakes up to find a little sapling in a pot on his desk with a bow around it.

Is there a video of him talking about tearing down the veil and reshaping reality?
I need it for....science.
It's not like I've watched these videos way too much or anything. ![]()
The stuff where he hates you, that I know I couldn't ever play so I watched. Delicious snark, but not something I want to actually play with.
Speaking of delicious snark, this might be my favorite version of that particular conversation (just asking him if he feels nothing):

Same. He's already so bitter and jaded about modern Thedas, and not just the elves. He expects to be disappointed by all of it, by everyone. I can't bring myself to seriously play a quizzy who feeds into those destructive expectations. It's why I like his friendship with a non-elven Inquisitor so much. He and my Adaar are snarky mage bros.
Did anyone notice that the title Here Lies the Abyss is part of the Chant of Light. Not sure if that is significant or not, but seeing as some other titles are...idk where I'm going with this. I'm not a lore god.

I think all of the main storyline quest names are.

All but two are directly from what we know of the Chant. The remaining two may be part of the Chant as well, but we can't be sure unless/until we have the full record of it. Give me a moment and I'll figure out which two...
EDIT: It's actually three. The Threat Remains, From the Ashes, and the Final Piece are NOT from the Chant (as far as we know). As to what it means lore-wise? On the surface, pulling from the Chant highlights the theme of "Faith" that DAI is all about. If you wanted to do a more in-depth analysis.... I can't help with that atm xD The quests might relate to those parts of the Chant on a deeper level or they might not...
"The Threat Remains" seems like it might be a hint that you didn't really solve much by defeating Coryphefish, but I might be stretching here.
Solas thread, I love you. I really do.
Let my express my love the way I do best: via cheesy gifs of k-pop videos.

*Also over-analysing*
"Vir Tanadhal [translates to "Way of the Three Trees"] is a dalish philosophy espoused by a clan's hunters in the elven goddess of the hunt, Andruil. It teaches young Dalish hunters to respect nature, work together and be resolute in purpose." (Kind of like how players have banded together to uncover this mystery!)
Codex entry: Way of the Three Trees
"Be swift and silent" - Vir Assan: The Way of the Arrow
"As the sapling bends, so must you" - Vir Bor'assan: The Way of the Bow
"Recieve the gifts of the huntress with mindfulness" - Vir Adahlen: The Way of the Wood
Apply Andruil to everything! \o/
I like this! New headcanon: the ardent blossom was Andruil's crown.
Edit: ToP again? I'm game.

Yes, I've started a digital paining, my first digital work, my first work in color. It's stressing me out a lot, but I'm doing it! See, I love this painting you shared too, but I don't have the confidence to capture someone in that loose style. I'm really uptight about my work apparently. But his head is finished and I'm just starting on his armor now. I'll share here when it's done.

Now equip it on Solas for maximal, head-spinning irony.

Aww, thank you! And you'll see this thread is basically filled with talented people everywhere, it's the best place!
Here, have a cute gif of Hyuna, who also happens to be, thanks to Lizasaurus, the face of Uniqua, ungrateful daughter of Stevhen the Elvhen, and future trashy & glittery Queen of Thedas. One of this thread's greatest creation.
