I definitely would not have bet we'd have the Dread Wolf in the party AND a romance option. I could have maybe guessed there was more going on with the elven backstory, and maybe thought we might run into him at some point. To be honest, I almost thought Flemeth might have been Fen'Harel for a while. Particularly when Morrigan mentions her friends being wolves when she grew up.
But did not see that coming.
Yes, definitely didn't see that coming. I don't remember back then if I thought that the elven pantheon thing would play a part in future games, but I remembered thinking that there might be a possibility that some of the more elf-related stuff may be touched upon in one of the games. But having one of the elven gods as a party member and a romance option? Never crossed my mind. xD
Now I'm remembering the first time I ended DAI and seeing the big reveal. I was like, "HOLY CRAP! I ROMANCED THE DREAD WOLF?!" Best video game surprise moment ever. ![]()

I've mentioned this before, but I was accidentally spoiled on him being Fen'Harel right before What Pride Had Wrought. I didn't have the end of game surprise, but I also think that the spoiler happening when it did made me pay really close attention in the temple AND made the breakup slightly easier since I had that info already.
But...the moment I accidentally read the spoiler I felt rather stunned. Wait-WHAT? OMG. REALLY?! Holy crap.....And that's when I rushed through the rest of the game.
I went through all of those feelings and processing all of that before the end, so it also lent a lot of sadness to the last part of the game for me too.
Edit: well, actually, no, I did the temple and then he left me and then I saved and quit for a few days to process my feelings until I picked it back up again.
The "elven serving man" thing cracked me up when that happened anyway. Just given the whole elven societal status and the necessity that this powerful mage and important member of The Inquisition had to be called that for political reasons.
First time I played and heard them call Solas a manservant, I was nervous to approach him and hoped he wasn't too offended or upset that Lavellan had brought him along.
You can imagine my reaction when I finally wandered up to him to see what he had to say. I just stared. And it was about then I started to get a real inkling he just wasn't what he appeared to be. ![]()

I was glad to see there was an option to ask him how he was being treated.
I love him at the palace. I did always have some suspicion about him in general but I let it be quieted.
And then there's this ![]()
It seemed a logical question, Solas.
I was spoiled before playing the game- actually, I had been following this thread when the spoiler subforum was made to talk about what was happening. At first the information was that Solas was a traitor working for Corypheus, and that you could confront him at some point. Then there were rumors that he was Fen'Harel, and it was like: "Lol that'll never happen."
Then it turned out to be real! I was already intending to romance Solas because the female elf only thing sounded intriguing. I was doubly interested in romancing him once I heard about the Fen'Harel thing. But I definitely didn't expect the type of character he ended up being. I think my thought process went something like:
- He's a god, but chaotic.
- The whole game is an act
Then once I was able to finally play, I was surprised to find how much of a sad old man he was. And how forthright he was, despite the huge lies he was telling. He didn't seem to actually like to trick people. And his romance with Lavellan was much, much more legitimate.

Whoa, I don't remember that at all. Is it from a dialog with Morrigan in DA:O?
Once again, thanks for linking all the awesome art everyone!
I'm continually amazed at the number of talented people there are out there who love Dragon Age.
Yep, its dialogue from DA:O. If you ask about her childhood, she mentions that she was isolated. If she wanted to play, she ran with wolves and...some other animal. I think birds.

His genius is actually that he rarely if ever tells lies...
Like in the video above:
"Court intrigue? Since when have you been to court?"
"Ah, well... An elven apostate is not often invited to court... Of course..." [which is clearly absolutely true, but misdirects the questioner...]
And it's true that he doesn't appear to take particular delight in deceiving people (except in Halamshiral...), it is more used as a survival strategy, which make the whole trickster god thing a bit of a misnomer...

Sounds like a very interesting time at the forums back then.
Though I'm glad I wasn't around here when that happened. I really liked that I was surprised with the reveal.
With that said, if (single player) DLC ever gets announced, I'll probably disappear from the forums for a while so as not to be spoiled. ![]()
Yep, its dialogue from DA:O. If you ask about her childhood, she mentions that she was isolated. If she wanted to play, she ran with wolves and...some other animal. I think birds.
Found the bit of dialogue:
Warden: So life in the wilds must have been lonely.
Morrigan: At times, perhaps. A world of people and buildings and things was all very foreign to me. If I wished companionship, I ran with the wolves or flew with the birds. If I spoke, t'was to the trees.
I didn't really pay attention to Morrigan until my second or third playthough. So when I heard that line, and several others, I thought it very unusual how gifted Morrigan was at such a young age to have that command over wild creatures. Fen'Harel was clearly inspired in some part by Loki, who could change genders. So my initial thought was that Flemeth might have been Fen'Harel. It also explained the gold eyes, which were very wolfish.
Ironically it seems that, while wrong, Fen'Harel and Morrigan might be something akin to siblings.

Same. It took me long to come here because I didn't want to spoil anything so I waited until I was finished.
I was around on the old old BSN but was more of a lurker.

Littermates or step siblings...

We won't know much conclusively until we learn more about what relationship Mythal had to the rest of the pantheon. But some people have speculated that Mythal might have set Fen'Harel up deliberately to be apart from the others. Which would almost make him proto-Morrigan, if that was the case. Take a child and raise it outside of the group so you can use it when needed.
That would certainly explain the bickering they got up to.
Inquisitor: I swear to the maker, I will turn this car around.
I like the idea of them being siblings, because it sort of hits with the irony of Morrigan's childhood. She spends so much time wondering about why Flemeth raised her the way she did, perhaps even longing for a larger family. Then DA:I hits and Flemeth is like: "By the way, I'm a god. Here's all your ******* half brothers and sisters. Have fun!"
Morrigan: mom plz.

Actually that's what I think and is basically the premise of one of my stories. I think he was either created or raised to be a sort of minion/creature/servant and always kept as a outsider due to his usefulness, that's why he's so relaxed posing as a servant and so good at evasiveness... I am not sure initially whether expectations were high for him but I certainly think he exceeded them and eventually became a friend, confidant, even an adviser.

I need to see that family dinner, the whole Elven pantheon, Morrigan, her son Kieran, Kieran's dad Aeducan, Aeducan's other son Duncan, Duncan's uncle Bhelan, Bhelan's girlfriend Rica, and Rica's drunken mother. Will be fun.
Okay so... this is what happened.. I was playing sims 4 and created Solas, Lavellan and Dorian.
Solas and Lavellan got a baby girl who I named Sera...
Sera has a doll house.
It was broken.
I made Dorian to fix it.. and right away when he fixed it.....
SOLAS GOES THERE TO DESTROY IT!!!!
WTF SOLAS
It's hard to pin down exactly what Fen'Harel was in relation to the rest of the Pantheon for me, because it's impossible to pin down what the Forgotten Ones were in relation to the Pantheon. He had some kind of connection to both.
Also, I find it fairly interesting that the dev notes called the orb Mythal's orb. I wonder if he started out like Abelas...a servant or a follower of Mythal who was trusted enough to be given a power source.

Oh man, that would be amazing. That actually beats my setup where the dad is just an elven Surana. But bringing Lavellan and Surana to the table will still be adequate drama for me.
And I secretly really want my Lavellan and Morrigan to be sisters in law in some capacity. Just one big messed up family.
Lovely art.
Out of likes but that is really well done.
And now I am sad we have no DLC or anything but our own hellspiral for the time being.
