Wait what interview? What's the subject, if there is a particular one?
I don't know, all of the Patrick Weekes-y things?

For those @dragonage fans waiting on the @PatrickWeekes interview, it should be live later this afternoon. I asked many of your questions!

During SDCC, Nerd Appropriate had an interview with PW that was apparently very last minute, and they asked for fan questions over Twitter. We asked quite a few Solas questions, so we're excited to see what turns up!
(Yes, including a few LI questions. Morale was low!

I wake up and unsurprisingly the Solas thread is still awesome! You rock, guys.
I want to know more about this "badass," "nails" side of his personality. At first he sounded like a quiet, thoughtful introvert, which he may well be, but...there's obviously more. I mean, Scotch bonnet pepper, right? And didn't one of the devs say that he's the character everyone will be talking about after playing the game? Or did I dream that after looking at the Solass gif for too long?
No, I remember that too. I think it might've been Mike Laidlaw who said it? I can't remember where it was.
Solas: International Man of Mystery. But with better teeth. And less hair.

That needs to be made into fan art. ![]()
I kinda wonder... If the reason we'd all be talking about Solas in the end is because they're going to leave it very vague about what he is. One of the possibilities I've been considering more lately is that he might actually be Fen'Harel, whether he's just an ancient elf, a spirit, or something else. Since it's unlikely that we'd get solid confirmation about any deities in the game, it would make sense if we're not given a real answer.
I dunno. Just another theory I've been playing with.
Hmmmm, that's an interesting theory. And that makes me wonder where Solas stands re: religion. Does he believe in/worship the creators or the maker? We already know that he doesn't subscribe to Chantry beliefs concerning the Fade, but he also wasn't brought up Dalish. I've heard him described as neither a Dalish or a City Elf. He really doesn't fall into any neat sort of category. He's a very unique person.
Well, at the risk of being painfully teasing I did want to say...
Solas has a very lovely voice
Pfffft. You tease! I can't wait to hear it in-game. Not quite sure what an even welsher GDL would sound like. Imagining his quote blurb in a welsh accent seems adorable though.
Well he sounds like a fade archeologist, so:

Hey, if the hat fits...
And I think it fits pretty nicely. ![]()
And another thing I just want to thank everyone here for; I suffer with rather bad GAD (generalised anxiety disorder), so for me to be able to share anything personal, and to even have started posting here in the first place, just shows what a beautifully safe and accepting place everyone here has made this thread. So a massive thankyou to you all!
*hugs* Thank you for taking the time to share. Anxiety can be really tough to push past.
I couldn't help but feel like Patrick's tongue was firmly in cheek during that portion of the character interview. You know, "He's simple. Yeah. Really really simple. Nothing to see here." Suuuuuuuuure.
Same here. The part where PW says, "He's pretty straightforward, honestly. Just your average elven apostate who voluntarily joins the Inquisition in the middle of the mage rebellion to lend his expertise with the Fade" made me chuckle because that really isn't very average at all. I doubt many apostates would walk right into Inquisition headquarters, tell them he's a mage, and ask to join up. Much less an elven apostate, who would have even less protection than a human mage would. Even though the Inquisition is separate from the Chantry, it's still got both Cullen (a former Templar) and Cassandra (a former Seeker) on staff.

F-first post. I've been lurking for a little while but afraid to post and then yesterday happened so there's nothing to be afraid of, right? So hello! ![]()
I wasn't really all that excited about DA:I until I saw Solas's interview but I've been making grabby hands ever since. I'm entirely too excited to drag him everywhere in the game and hear everything he has to say about everything.
This is a terrible first post. I am so sorry. But uh... hello!

Actually, I'm almost certain it was a Chris Priestly tweet. He used to be the BioWare community manager, but left the company roughly a year or so ago. I think he had recently visited the team and got to see some DA:I in action and Tweeted something to the effect of Solas being a character that everyone would be talking about for a long time or something like that.
Which was both encouraging and downright terrifying all at the same time (like, shades of Anders entered my head and I screamed internally)

Outside of my wild theories, I tend to think he's probably agnostic. ![]()

Fox hunting.
My uncle does it and I've always found it depressing. I can't deeply fault humane deer hunters and types that hunt for meat (legally, safely and from stable populations, of course), because I eat meat and killing a deer in stable population for meat isn't really any worse than eating a cow someone else killed, imo. Just killing something to kill it is awful, though. Fox hunters and trophy hunters have such an alien mindset, to me. I can't relate at all to how they justify it.
Plus I saw a cartoon with Caspar the ghost and a hunted fox when I was little and it made me cry. Does anyone know the one? lol

I wonder if there will be much about Solas in the interview with Weekes. It's possible he'll talk about his characters, but it might also be generalized questions. Hmmmmmmm.
I hope he talks about Solas and Cole, because they haven't gotten much attention and they're easily two of my favorites.

I hope we get some little Solas tidbits! I feel like Weekes has given the least info about him. We've gotten some awesome tidbits about Iron Bull and a lot of interesting stuff about Cole has come up, even if it was through secondary sources that talked to him. I hope we hear a little about all of them, though!

@yearnfully. I agree. It seems that, because Shepard was human, you could only discuss beliefs in very black and white terms. It seems like it's either a) Classic earthly monotheism or
you are, pretty much, an atheist. I feel it's the same way for DA. You either fully support the Chantry, Andraste and the Maker included or nothing at all.
I hope we will be able to talk more about our alignment if we choose. Paragons, Maker, Pantheon, Qun, etc. and we can get all super deep and thoughtful and sh*t. They already said Solas is a part of the respectfully moral and theological party. He would be the perfect guy to talk to. I can see people disagreeing with him and, as long as they don't act like a giant bag of dicks, he would just be like "It's cool, bruh." ![]()
