I wonder if there will be much about Solas in the interview with Weekes. It's possible he'll talk about his characters, but it might also be generalized questions. Hmmmmmmm.  

 

I hope he talks about Solas and Cole, because they haven't gotten much attention and they're easily two of my favorites. 

 

I hope so, too! Cole at least has a whole book that his fans have with which they can get to know him. Solas, not so much! BUT I STILL LOVE HIM WITH THE FORCE OF A THOUSAND BLACK HOLES.

 

I know that a few of us offered Solas-related questions to NA when they asked for questions, and I asked a questions about how it is to write three completely different characters (and about Solas being an LI but shhhhh) so we might get something there. These interviews are always interesting, though, so I'm not too concerned.

Thanks for the welcome!  I'm another one with anxiety so it's pretty scary to put myself out there.  I... don't really have much to add to the conversation.

Iron Bull has pretty easily gotten the most focus out of Weekes' bunch. I'm honestly getting a bit tired of him and Sera now.  

 

 

Agreed.  I'm eager to see more of just about any characters but especially Solas and Cole (not gonna lie, I would play a game that was just talking to Solas and hugging Cole).  I'm still very interested in Iron Bull and Sera but we've seen so much of them at this point that I'd take anything else first.

I honestly wish I didn't feel the same but I do, and don't forget Vivienne. It's a case of over saturation. I feel happy for their fans though.

It seems like they move through phases where certain characters get a lot of focus, though. Cassandra and Varric were early on, since everyone already knew them. Vivienne got a lot of attention as one of the first "new" ones. Iron Bull and Sera have gotten a lot of attention lately and Dorian has started to get there, too. That leaves Solas, Cole and Blackwall to maybe be in line. We hope!

Yup. They know next to nothing, and from his writer interview he seems like a cool character. Didn't Sheryl put him in team vulgar? Well Sheryl wrote him so I'm not surprised.

I really want to hear some of the banter between Solas and Cole! I hope Solas can help that poor kid find some peace and stability.

I think it's likely he'll be mentioned, not so sure about an appearance. Wasn't there an interview with Liane Merciel? Is it legit? It's in polish.

Not really. I got a chance to use some of them, but I felt weird writing about characters that were created by someone else. I was worried about the fact that I use the wrong words in the dialogues or show the behavior of characters in a manner inappropriate for them, with their divergent personalities. Protecting the integrity of the world is very important to me and I spent a lot of hours, painstakingly assessing someone's creations other characters at this level. I can say that there are some places where there are references to well-known events and characters, but the names have been omitted, and none of them will not show up in dialogues. It was my decision. I did not want to take the risk of writing something that is not true about these characters.

That's an interesting thought that hadn't occurred to me. I keep forgetting about the upcoming book even though I have it pre-ordered! I like that! (I still have the Masked Empire I am working my way through. I love the writing and the characters but having difficulty with The Game. It just seems so ridiculous to me. But I just met Fellessan and I really like his character and Briala.)

When he invites Quiz, it's like he's letting himself share the innermost part of him and they can joke "Is this where you take all your Inquisitors?"

I actually read most of The Masked Empire in almost a single sitting - after the first four or five chapters or so, which took me almost two weeks to get through  .  It really is a fantastic book, in my opinion, once you get past the rather dry exposition chapters.  The character development is really some of the best I've seen.  It's a large part of why I'm so excited that Patrick Weekes is involved in DAI - and in the characters he wrote, in particular.  even Iron Bull, though admittedly I'm more interested in his being Qunari, and a spy, and all that, than in all the #ridethebull nonsense (which I'm frankly a bit tired of hearing about).  Hopefully the PW interview will have some new info.

Sooo I've been lurking in this thread for some time and finally decided to post a bit and say hi. Also saying that you all are amazing and it's been encouraging seeing people talk and share stories about themselves without other people bashing them or the thread turning sour. So you all rock!

 

Looking forward to that interview and here's hoping that Solas will be a LI!! I've got a character already in mind that I want to be my first play through, a Qunari rogue, and it would be amazing if he was available.

Oh my gosh. I'm so late in doing this, but I've been so lost for words today. I thought my post would go unnoticed and ignored, like I often do irl. But it didn't, and omg words are still eluding me. I just want to thank everyone on the Solas Thread for creating a positive and loving atmosphere that allows people to share stories and opinions, of sometimes personal natures, and not receive negative backlash and hate. I hold this thread with the same high regard and respect that hold all of my close friends. And, all of you are complete strangers to me. Just thank you. You are all uniquely wonderful people, special in your own way.                                               Now that's off my chest,  I can focus on the reason why such an awesome place exists.                                                                         And now, I don't have to fangirl about Solas to myself anymore.
