I've been with my boyfriend for 10 years this year, so he has seen me through most of my digital romances and poked fun at me and my choices. He got his copy earlier than I did and even predicted that I'd love Solas and romance him. He hasn't finished Inquisition so he just rolls his eyes when I bring up Solas and I can't hint at the impact he made on my feelings without possibly spoiling.
My boyfriend's a good sport about it too. We've been together for...six years? So he's seen everything from Origins onward. The only one that weirded him out a little was Anders. They look kind of alike; blonde, scruffy, brown eyes...they even both love cats. So when he saw me romancing Anders, he was like, "You're basically dating mage terrorist me. I love you but that's creepy." ![]()

Mine made fun of Alistair, calling him annoying and 'lady fanservice'. Alistair was the first time I really ever said if a game character were real, I'd be totally interested. Anders is another thing....he gets up my nurturing side, so that was also sort of predictable. Then he was introduced to Solas and immediately told me, 'You're going to love this guy'. Then when I made an elf, he kept telling me I should romance him/he knew I would want to. I can technically blame boyfriend for all of this, right? ![]()

So the DLC finally appeared on my Origin Store, so yay! The price is 14.99€, so not yay!
(Besides, 14.99$ is definitely cheaper than 14.99€ but oh well, they always use that trick to inflate the price)
I think I'll wait a bit until deciding to buy it, for now it just looks overpriced, but if it has good content, I'll jump on the JoH boat.

So, has everybody decided if he will or will not buy the DLC? Because I just found Connor's master assassin outfit for Arno in AC:U and I wanted to share with somebody that I am now a very happy cat.

I heard there's no real new companion/LI banters. There's some commetns from your companions about the world and the story is meh. It's being compared to Return to Ostagar. Not terrible but not worth the $15.00. RtO was $5.00. So it's up to you if it's worth it, but I don't think you'll miss much by waiting. After reading some semi-spoilery stuff, I have a feeling this was a way to appease people as we wait for the bigger stuff. Also the lore may be critical, so it's way to add it into the game without compromising story DLC later by doing a ton of info-dumping> This way any upcoming story dlc can actually move the story forward.
EDIT: So really what im going to do is just play it and start picking away at my new lavellan but pillars of eternity comes out on thurs and i want to dig into that.

I have a feeling it's a mix of this and the fact that Bioware probably didn't want to release anything too story heavy with the Xbox timed exclusive (since if I recall they were only getting timed exclusive to the first single player DLC).

I actually did end up buying the DLC, because I'm a consumer **** who can't be stopped. My current Lavellan isn't even a high enough level to utilize it yet, and I think I'll probably end up feeling like I slightly overpaid... but I had to have it on the day it came out. Marketing works great on people like me.

In addition, I have a suspicion that this might have started as a piece of unfinished content from the game that got expanded upon to keep the fans occupied while they wait and just to have something out this soon after release.
As I understand it, they really didn't have much DLC in the works at all at release. They didn't want a sixth month gap between release and the first DLC, so they revived a scrapped idea with some work already done.
That's my theory anyway.

Inquisition is the first DA game where I've really enjoyed the combat and gameplay, so I'm happy for more of it. And I love exploration. I frequently do the thing where I'm supposed to be going toward a major quest objective, then I get derailed by sidequests, and before I know it, it's five hours later and my bags are full of strange cheese and weird map fragments ![]()
Skyrim did it better, but Bethesda has had a lot of practice with open-world, and I think Inquisition was a solid attempt at a more exploration-based game.

I will eventually, just not now. When it drops to a normal price. If they want me to pay for a fourth of the original game, it needs to be comparable to Dragonborn in more than superficial comparisons.

I eat that **** up. If something can twist the knife in and make me feel angst, I will love it. I felt sad right after but like, for me, the tragedy of Solas is that he is alone. I feel the same way Morrigan feels about lost history...the world is so boring and uninteresting and all these amazing and magical things keep getting blighting/destroyed/forgotten one by one. They are so precious and it is so sad that they are just lost to greed/ignorance/hubris. That's what's sad for me and that's what makes me love him as a character.
Exactly! I cry more over his conversation with Flemeth than I do the breakup for precisely those reasons. Even moreso because he's alone when he doesn't have to be. He's got friends who care about who could HELP if only he'd let them.

Same. I don't have the emotional capacity for this kind of drama IRL, but I'm happy to eat it up when it's fictional people
I think a lot of it also had to do with my Lavellan. I got really attached to her, and I was surprised by how much I'd missed playing a genuinely heroic character. She's probably my PC who deserves a happy ending the most, and the prospect of her not getting one is definitely prolonging my stay in the hellspiral
Ugh, I'm out of likes. Have a
and some
. This is me in a nutshell. My IRL emotional capacity is about the size of a thimble, but I seem to be able to relate more/feel more when it's fictional. Yeah, I'm messed up, I know. But this means I wallow in the feels simply because I feel something, anything. If something moves me, I adore it. And so, here I am, rolling around in the mucky hellspiral. ![]()

So I am here. And I'm sure I've made my friends' eyes roll by now too. Ha.
Still, these feels, I embrace them and appreciate a character getting to me this deeply.
DLC is downloading now. Yay.

Oh god. My husband is Scottish and would take the complete and utter p*ss out of me if he even had an inkling what was going on in my head. The most I've told him is that my latest Bioware boyfriend dumped me. He thought that was funny, but if he had any idea there had been real actual tears, I'd never hear the end of it. ![]()

I suspect you are correct, though I hope it's that they used an unfinished area because they rather spend more time on the story DLC (as well as wanting to save the story DLC for the non-timed exclusive stuff). If feels like the DLC they have been discussing in interviews and such isn't this one. So I'm hopeful then next DLC, with some story based stuff, is not to far from being released.
Whatever the case it is nice to have some new content at least. ![]()

Don't know what has been posted reference the DLC, but I've been playing it for 7-8 hours now...
Spoiler
If this is not good, though? Is this not "reverse foreshadowing" (yeah, I just invented that!)?
Which means that this will not happen to us? And therefore that…

So...my Dad has been living with hubby & I for a couple of months(short term) and video games weren't allowed in my house growing up.
My Dad is really having trouble wrapping his head around my interest in this game and Solas in particular. He thinks I'm addicted and I just need to cold turkey it. Last night he turned to my husband and said "I thought that she was over it, she hadn't mentioned it in a month."
My brilliant hubby looked at him and said "what you have to understand is this started in 2009. So it's always been here for the last six years. It's not going away."
