Well you're basically off to recover the body of the last Inquisitor who died 800 years ago about the time of the second blight. There are two Avaar tribes in the area one is friendly and the only is trying to summon their god Hakkon again, the last time the Avaar did this was 800 years ago and the former inquisitor was sent to stop it by emperor Drakon who was fighting another God Dragon in the Anderfells. The last Inquisitor couldn't beat it, instead freezing it in time, after doing various quests you eventually stumble upon him, defeat the Avaar trying to waken Hakkon and speak to him, it turns out the last inquisitor was Dalish as well as Andrastian (he is the guy from the promo with Dirthamen's vallaslin). He's pretty disappointed when if you tell him Drakon's son destroyed the Dales, and says he was good pals with the emperor, before he dies and Hakkon wakes up. Then you go kill Hakkon.

 

I thought that basically up until this part of the story the dlc was pretty boring, but I doubt my description done the ending justice  .

How did the Dalish guy end up Andrastian?

I just realised that it's the same price as the Omega DLC for ME3. I do not think it's possible for me to regret buying a DLC as much as I regret buying that one. So much regret over £11.99. That DLC was the worst. WORST. And I think it only took me about 2 hours to complete.

It is the one for which I compare all others. Only if it's equal to or worse than Omega is it worthy of my time to rant about it. 

 

...Good grief Omega was awful.

 

AWFUL.

 

I haven't seen anyone rant about Hakkon like I can rant about Omega yet, so I don't think it can be that bad.

 

I really enjoyed the hell out of Omega, but it's a siege, plain and simple. It's a fun siege, but it's not something people can't skip. I love Aria and I also loved Nyreen

So far 90% of this DLC has been spent falling off trees. I can just see my sad Lavellan, scrabbling up with her nails trying to prove how elfy she is. And failing. Sera and Solas just standing down below, waiting for her to come to her senses.

My Lavellan is so graceful that sometimes she misses the stairs into Skyhold and falls off the other side when approaching. Then occasionally does it all over again.

 

Solas declared her graceful though, so graceful she remains. Out of his sight however.....

How did the Dalish guy end up Andrastian?

Not sure, he doesn't really say much before he dies, I'm assuming he's Andrastian because before he dies he says that he is going to join his lover at Andraste's side. His lover may have been Andrastian, and maybe converted him, but she was also an elf and I would assume Dalish too, so who knows?

 

Him being Andrastian is interesting though, given how the Emerald Knights react when one of their members is going to convert. Maybe Orlesian-Dalish relations weren't always so bad.

Good thing there is more Hobo Solas on the way...get things set ARIGHT.  Though we should be grateful.  Bring in unsuspecting people looking for happiness...and then they see Hobo Solas in his yummy booty shorts.

Remember, this would be long before the Dales were destroyed. That's where much of the bad blood between the Chantry and the elves originates. Not to mention, the Dalish as we think of them didn't exist yet. He was probably just an elf from the Dales, raised in the elven faith, but he converted. Andraste was good enough for Shartan, so it isn't far fetched.

Actually one of my theories about the Dales is that the reason the elven elites forbade the building of Chantries and barred missionaries was because the Andrastrian conversion was meeting with success among the populous, which threatened their legitimacy as it was based on the ideology of reviving the civilization of Elvhenan. But that's a discussion for another thread...
