Definitely love the Avvar for the same reasons as yours, I just can't help love spirits (Cassandra and Sera can get lost on that subject), and seeing how the Avvar have their thing going on, and going on so well, just makes me happy as hell, and opens up so many new possibilities. I'm really glad Bioware took the time to put all that into a DLC, I was skeptic before buying it, but I don't regret one bit playing it, it's such an interesting culture!

 

Also, I really love Sigrid. I recruited her as an agent of the Inquisition (Yeah, Cullen, I know you didn't like it, look at me not caring), because she is definitely nothing as threatening as the Chantry would make her to be, and I think her existence could challenge the stereotypes and stigmas of mage-spirit relationships. And the discovery of the fact that mage can part ways with their spirit-companion is also a huge deal, definitely.

 

I wonder what people mostly did about Scout Grandin though. I find that case interesting, because Scout Grandin became possessed by a demon, but said twice that it was willingly and that it was a cohabitation. Despite it being rather odd (because after all, that demon helps him take revenge on the hakkonites in a really creepy way), I couldn't bring myself to kill him. They seems to want each other's company, and their cause seemed just (after all, can't blame him for wanting to kill hakkonites to avenge his friend, they're assholes), but I wonder what happens once all hakkonites are dead, what the demon and Scout Grandin will want to do them, and if that might be the moment they'll become out of control? I don't know, I just let them leave, but I don't know if it was the right choice still.

 

And about Telana, I was the same. Her story really touched me, so I honestly can't wait for your story that will mention Ameridan&Telana to drop!

I sent Sigrid back to talk with her augur.  I considered recruiting her, but then I had a moment where I remembered how frightened and out-of-place my Lavellan felt at the start, surrounded by strangers who didn't understand her.  And I just couldn't justify recruiting her with Lavellan.  I might do it with Adaar in a later playthrough.

 

As for Grandin...I killed him.  I felt awful doing it, but it reminded me of two things:  Justice and Anders' downward spiral, and what the augur says about mage/spirit pairs who "sicken."  The Avvar don't seem to have the Rite of Tranquility.  I gathered that they just kill mages who are in danger of abomination.  Just because the relationship with Grandin's spirit was voluntary doesn't mean it wasn't dangerous, and I think I'll always be leery of that sort of character after Justice/Vengeance.

 

I'll link the chapter with Ameridan and Telana in the thread once it's finished.  Shouldn't be more than a few days; I have ALL the DLC plot bunnies.

Recruiting Sigrid into the Inquisition allows a war table mission in which you can send her for culture exchange. She gets to dazzle people with what she is, and it apparently leads to more understanding of some sort. I agree, it's kinda harsh to relocate her so far away from what she knows, but I don't know. If I have the opportunity to recruit people I like, I almost always do.

As for Scout Grandin, well, we'll see how it goes. Not sure I could ever kill him, and maybe I'll regret it. Don't think it'll turn into major stuff later on though, but if it happens to bring bad stuff, I'll make sure to kill him in other playthroughs.

The wonderful thing is many people, including myself, I'll admit, didn't truly appreciate his looks early on. Now, it's like....the details...it's alllll in the details.....that jaw, those freckles....his very regal sort of posture, even the ears, the way he carries himself, his body lines....damn...

Makes me think of this Doctor Who episode in which Amy talks about her love for Rory, and how at first, his face looked "meh" to her (she calls him "Stupid Face" all the time). And that at some point, while she realized she fell for him, every inch of his face features became suddenly so beautiful on their own, and that she wouldn't trade them for anything else in the world. I love that Doctor Who moment to bits.

That's basically what happens with Solas to many of us, I think.

I'm exactly like that as well. And yeah, I cried all of the tears during that episode. Even though Amy isn't my favorite companion, that quote is easily one of my favorite ever, and resonates in me deeply.

I loved it! I didn't expect much tbh, but WHOA! It's just so sad. Poor Telana... my chest hurt when I heard her story. Also, I loved the first quizzy's memories. How he talks about his companions, how he says he'd be nothing without them... and knowing how it all ends. Argh. Some serious feels.

The new area is just beautiful, I think it's my new favourite one.

 

About my fave thing of the DLC... did you "bear" that burden? Omg that line made me laugh... I'm hopeless.
