Woke from cobwebbed uthanera, cracked the ancient dust with tears.
Cradled he the fade-bright focus, locked against his weakened grasp,
Canny trickster, full of cunning, tracked the flag that bears the asp.
Blighted lord of old Tevinter loosed the power: his to hold!
Broke the air to breach his city, silenced song and blackened gold.
Dream-spent Wolf God stayed by fear.
New hand, guiltless, late to clasp
Anchored power uncontrolled,
Stepped across the veil unsleeping.

Wary Solas, Pride forsaken, watched the weeping skies expand,
Found in chains arraigned Lavellan, fade-bright scar upon her hand;
Followed her to face his blunder, shivered veil and demon-door,
Hoisted heaven-high her mark to mend what gods could not restore.
Bold Lavellan, now uplifted, chosen by the Maker's bride,
Welcomed by the Inquisition, masked Fen'Harel at her side;
Raised by crisis to command,
Brandished light to break the war.
Full-disguised, her humble guide,
Truth behind him ever-creeping.

Troubled Solas, Pride atoning, shocked to feel the dragon-blast:
Hot breath blighted, black archdemon, terror rising from his past.
Reeling soldiers, steel unsheathing, shattered shields against their foe;
All unready, died in darkness crushed beneath the bitter snow.
Ancient serpent long uncoiling struck to seize his fade-bright key,
Self-exalting Elder One, devoured by his vanity.
Bold Lavellan standing last,
Hand-fast anchor all aglow,
Pulled the mountain down to flee,
Ran before the torrent, leaping.

Waking Solas, Pride returning, memory by dreams concealed,
Led the way to lofty Skyhold, time-lost fortress now revealed.
There he watched the Inquisition raise the Herald to a throne,
Shone she brightly while Fen'Harel, bound by secrets, stood alone.
Yet, the worth of bold Lavellan coaxed his spirit from disguise,
Heart constrained by gravid feeling, powerless behind his lies.
Windy Skyhold, mountain shield,
Hope rebuilding stone-on-stone.
Hope for Solas yet unwise,
Waiting for his error's reaping.

Ready Solas, Pride unwitting, followed in Lavellan's light,
aided her in worthy action, demon clash and dragon fight;
Braced the nascent Inquisition, shored it fast with victory:
Won the courtier's gilded game, and stemmed the Warden's treachery.
In his dreams the focus beckoned, fade-bright emblem of his shame;
Day dispelled the urgent whispers, let him wear a mortal name.
Bold Lavellan in his sight:
Blind affection can't forsee
How the arrow's callous aim
Wounds the heart to bitter weeping.

False-faced Solas, Pride dissembling, stood within his ally's hall,
Walked its aisles as a stranger, modest pilgrim of Mythal;
Saw its ruins choked with ivy, bleak reminder of his task,
Mute with knowledge, keen Fen'Harel strained behind his cautious mask.
Sky-reflecting Well of Sorrows drained until it cracked the dust,
Geas-locked store of gathered wisdom granted to another's trust.
Pride heard duty's lonely call,
knowing what he could not ask;
Banished love, as well he must,
Toil upon him ever heaping.

Cruel Solas, Broken-hearted, shattered mirror mocking Pride,
Faced the furious Elder One with fast friends fighting by his side;
Brought to ground the black archdemon, smashed the false god's arrogance,
But! His death-crash cracked the focus: hope extingished by mischance.
Westward fleeing, friends forsaken, anguish growing resolute,
Solas found enduring Flemeth waiting for his rash persuit;
Ever willing to divide
Friendship and expedience,
Never free of his dispute,
Burdened with its strict safekeeping.

Lone Fen'Harel, Pride and Wisdom hung suspended in the scales,
battled with himself forever, knowing neither could prevail.
Memory in fade-bright fire threw his shifting shadow long,
Darkening the mirror's face and urging whispers into song.
Lone Fen'Harel, all awakened, dragged his monster close behind him
Into darkness, into shadow, where the hunters would not find him.
