In non-DA news, I just started up Pillars of Eternity.  And ran straight into Aloth:

I started last night...mostly fell in love with my chanters chant song names. Also we came up with a Stevhen for PoE.  Her name is Kathy. She just a regular joe laborer.  How she got in this mess she'll never know, but she's always willing to turn lemons into lemonade and tries to make the best out of any situation! Much like the time she had to plan her sister's bridal shower on a shoe string budge and 2 weeks notice...LOL! GO KATHY!

I guess it's because King Alistair is what's in Bioware's canon? Like in the comics and the default state if you didn't import? Also, I believe lots of people chose to make Alistair king in their games.

 

Though I admit, I myself would prefer a Warden Alistair figurine, since that's what he is in my games. Maybe either in his splintmail armor or his Grey Warden armor.

Yeah, it doesn't.  I still want it though. It's not everyday we get to have nice-looking Dragon Age figurines. (Mass Effect gets plenty...)

Is it weird that I want to protect him with all that I am?  I would be SO SAD. TOO SAD.  But this is a good idea.  when i figure out my stream going, i'll play as stevhen. stevhen would totally play these RPG's too.

All this time I was thinking that Alistair was the most normal of my BW LIs (Princess Stabbity hears the Maker talking to her, Broody Elf has issues, Lavellan would need an immortal lifetime just to hear all of Solas' screwups and Liara goes from 'sweet archaelogist' to 'I will flay you alive with my brain' in an alarmingly short time).  Turns out he's a serial killing hand collector.  It's always the one you least suspect.

On-topic: If they ever come out with a Solas figurine, I am soooooooo getting it! 

 

Oh dear god, I can already hear my credit card weeping. If they release a Zevran, Fenris, or Solas, I'm doomed. If they release two out of three, or all three? Then I'm super doomed. At least, if they look even half-way accurate which... that Alistair is a bit... eh. Maybe it's because they darkened his hair and removed his face scruff, IDK. It's been so long since I've drawn Alistair I barely remember his bone structure.

 

(Zevran and Fenris didn't have on-screen DAI cameos, of course, but if they dip into the other games... though knowing their track record for Zev, they'll release multiple versions of Alistair, a few versions of Leliana and Morrigan, and no Zevran. Seems to be their trend with the original LIs. :[ *bitter grumping*)

I'm back to playing morally grey for PoE, because Obsidian always does a fantastic job of moral choice, and letting you do some really twisted things.  Elaria's a fire godlike.  Not necessarily a BAD person, but pretty self-centered and prone to snap judgments.

I made a Moon Godlike because PRETTY.  I didn't get very far with her yet. Not sure if I'm feeling her.  But I think I just want to make Kathy.   The human warrior laborer. And not really warrior - just really don't know what else to do but swing that sword!

Though I did find it odd that they released Alistair, for their DA:I collectible figurine line. I mean, I get that he's popular in the DA fandom (and he is one of my favorites) and would generate more sales but wouldn't it make sense to release an actual DA:I companion? Like Cassandra or Varric (and Solas *cough*)? 

 

Oh well.

I think I've only played one Obsidian game (KOTOR 2), and pretty much hated it, in part because the game felt like it was pushing one into that morally gray/terrible direction and that's not how I play.

  These reviews though.....I am contemplating PoE, eventually.

The lack of facial scruff, the dark hair and the fact that he's a serial killer hand collector.  Small stuff like that.

LOL, I loved Kreia, and KOTOR 2.  But it's definitely not for everyone.  It takes the Star Wars universe's simplistic light/dark morality, turns it inside out, then takes it to its horrific logical conclusion.  Pretty much impossible to come out of that one unscathed.

 

So far PoE's been a lot less twisted.  But I'm also not very far into the game yet, and knowing Obsidian and Chris Avellone, it's gonna get twisted sooner or later.
