LOL, I loved Kreia, and KOTOR 2. But it's definitely not for everyone. It takes the Star Wars universe's simplistic light/dark morality, turns it inside out, then takes it to its horrific logical conclusion. Pretty much impossible to come out of that one unscathed.
So far PoE's been a lot less twisted. But I'm also not very far into the game yet, and knowing Obsidian and Chris Avellone, it's gonna get twisted sooner or later.
Well, that's fine, and I like exploring gray areas in general, but it could've done that without creating a character who is so openly manipulative and lying and hurting people you care about. It became a wait for the other shoe to drop.
My boyfriend loves her and that game too, and I wanted to bring up Solas as a contrast to Kreia during a recent discussion, but he hasn't finished Inquisition yet. Sigh.
Whereas Solas was definitely hiding his identity and using a guiding hand in certain ways, the treatment is just wildly different, and thus I wasn't waiting for his and nor did I feel completely used, lied to, manipulated, and like a pawn afterward. It's utterly important that he rarely ever directly lies.
Kreia is barely concealing anything and I'm not sure if it was confined to the restored content mod or not, but the way she has her little cutscenes where she's doing her own thing, like torturing and blackmailing Atton....ugh, no.
