Three members of the Torchwood team have shown up as companions. Eve Myles played Gwen, Gareth David Lloyd was Ianto and Indira Varma played Suzie.
It's a fun show to watch (providing you're not looking for anything serious) but don't bother with anything past season two. It gets really terrible really quickly.
I'd advise what multiple people told me. Watch through the end of Children of Earth and stop there.

YES MAN. I've been re-watching GoT and every time Geoffrey's a d-bag I just keep picturing the Purple Wedding.
I keep going to discuss some similarities I've noticed between Varys and Solas with my husband, but he hasn't beat the damn game yet, so take a breath to speak, remember, and then have to shut up. Frustrating.
