if youre a rogue thats the best lines he says out of all the classes. saying how graceful the inquisitor is

That's why he had me right there. He went from goofy Fade nerd/walking history lesson to smooth flirt. I had kept my options open at that point and thought I would wind up romancing Sera or Iron Bull. Uh huh.

I also have a mage Lavellan but the rogue line is the best.

So, I made my husband play fem Lavellan for his first (and likely only) play through. I also kindly suggested that he romance Solas. Ok, I kinda backseat drove his game. He has to know my pain! He's such a good sport. He's going to get dumped tonight. Tee hee! I can't wait until he's done. It's been murder not spoiling him about the wolf business. Soon everthing will be made clear [sinister cackle].

And sweet talker over there practically had me at hello.

He had me here: https://youtu.be/KfZcU6fAojI?t=1m42s

That little chuckle. I just can't handle it.

I was like this too.  I was way more invested in the mage/templar war, and the Chantry lore going into DA:I.  My canon Warden was an Amell, and my Hawke was a mage too.  Then Solas turns up with his lore and his stupid bald head and his stupid chucklesnort...and that was that

Edit for ToP: Elf powah biznatches.

I played a Dalish for DA:O so I have always been interested in them. I was a bit annoyed that DA2 seemed to be focusing heavily on the mages versus templars bit but nonetheless, I still went all "FREEDOM FOR ALL MAGES!" throughout DA2. xD

When I went into DA:I thought it was just going to focus on fixing the mage/templar conflict but I was surprised on how much elfy stuff there was in the game (and that made me so happy!). Edit: And of course, there's Solas so it made it even better.

Also, I love that artwork of modern AU Lavellan so much! <3 NEVER AGAIN SHALL WE SUBMIT!

*ahem* Sorry, I got carried away... ^__^;

My first Warden was Dalish but there seemed to be some glitch and I remade and played through as a human instead. Nice benefit was the marriage. I too went all MAGE FREEDOM and still did in DAI. And I feel like, being Dalish, and in favor of freedom would lend itself well to a pro-mage Inquisitor.

And so, by a few unexpected decisions, I wound up Solas' type.

For me it goes Dwarves-Elves-Humans. I would like to know what Dwarves were like during the time of Anicent Elven floating cities though, Arlathan's sewage system could well be the reason why Dwarves are afraid of the surface.

I think DA2's problem was that it had to set up the mage-templar war.  Which means it had to show the sources of conflict: the absolute worst on both sides.  Fanatics like Anders and Meredith, monsters like Quentin and Alrik.  We had so few reasonable mages or templars.  DA:I, which was about ending the war and setting up a peace, had way more nuanced characters in that respect. As did Asunder.

Cadash rogue at first and then yeah, "Was that a serious question?" I stuck with it until the fade scene at Haven, went "Daaang, dude is a badass," and restarted...

I think that is my favorite elf art piece, too. Love the graffiti girl.

Okay... so, I decided to check out that Tumblr just to see what else is there, and I found a watercolor near the bottom of Solas and Lavellan over a chessboard. And the artist linked it to this video, which is a visualization of some Solas&Bull party banter, which is actually an allude to this.

Holy, S***! Solas is a freaking master of chess! Not to mention the other alludes to foreshadowing in that game...

My mind has just be thoroughly blown.

I love that banter.  And the artist, her style's so beautiful.  I commissioned a piece from her as a self-indulgent birthday present.

I was thinking of asking the artist if I could use this idea as a cosplay for Comic Con. It's so brilliant but simple enough to make it achievable. I'm just concerned I'll get too warm.

Essentially. I cared but I wasn't super invested. My Warden is a queen Cousland. I launched Inquisition and decided screw it, I'm tired of playing humans with noble names, let's be an elf.

And sweet talker over there practically had me at hello.

Actually, he had me at "No, I am declaring it."

Personally, I've always been the most interested in Dalish elves from the playable races within Dragon Age, and have picked them as my canons for Origins and Inquisition. Though I'm not an unquestioning elf-nut in general (I don't have strong feelings either way on the elves in LOTR, for instance), I think that the Dragon Age elves' position as oppressed underdogs played a big part in me being drawn to them more than the other races. I like playing other DA races too, though if I have the option to play something other than a human in a video game, I'll usually take it. At least at first.

The rogue flirt is definitely my favourite. But I may be biased. ;) Solas was just so unexpectedly smooth. It threw me wayyy off what I'd been expecting from him. I was all, holy ****, you know exactly what you're doing and you are 100% confident.

Lavellan: So you're suggesting I'm graceful?
Solas: No. I am declaring it. It was not a subject for debate.
Lavellan: *small, flirty laugh*
Solas: *minute, self-assured smile*
Lavellan: ...
Lavellan: Well...
Lavellan: ... I should probably--*backing away*--get going--*trips over rock*--eheahah--*pointing at rock, laughing*
Lavellan: Okay, ahaah, bye then! *stumbling quickly away, sweating*

My poor Lavellan was a mess too.  She's a quick study, but she's also pretty young and inexperienced.  So Solas had her on the back foot for a few weeks before she started being able to fluster him back.  He probably thought it was adorable, the jerkface

Your husband is so awesome! How did you talk him into that?

Well, he played femShep exclusively just because of the voice acting, so getting him to play a female character wasn't a big deal. I think the elf part was more of a problem, but I convinced him playing an elf would be best for "plot reasons." He just likes humoring me. Plus I promised to make his elf look like Kristin Scott Thomas. ;)

I'd love to know more about the dwarves as well! I found their culture pretty fascinating in DA:O, then my interest in them kind of dwindled a bit in DA2 (though the Primeval Thaig did have me curious), then DA:I got me interested in them again.

Also, lol at that sewage bit. xD

True. I get what DA2 was trying to do, but I'm not sure if they executed it properly. xD Too many crazies for my liking. By the end of the game I just thought that everyone in Kirkwall was insane and thought, "If you can't beat them, join them." *sides with mages then runs away with Anders into the sunset as Kirkwall burns* xD

I guess I am somewhat an elf-nut. xD I always pick them if a game I'm playing gave me a choice to pick my race (IF an elf is available to play of course). Strangely enough, as much as I find playing a human boring, they are always my alt characters for a second playthrough. What does that say about me? :P

And yes, I love the rogue flirt but like you, I may be biased. :D

On the rogue flirt being best, I dunnoooo, you could always (if you were in denial) write it off as matter-of-factness. It's smooth, but not really risky... the, "I've yet to see it dominated. I imagine the sight would be... fascinating. *same self assured smile*" was a lot more startling, to me. Still smooth, either way.

Yep, this exactly. I was pretty gone at that point. My Lavellan isn't super young nor a stranger to love ( I headcanon her around 30 and first having fallen in love as a teen with her training partner. She loved her in return but they eventually grew apart. Still unsure if there were others ), but it was unexpected from Solas as she had known him up until that point and caught her just enough off guard to be gone too. And more inclined to try flirting with him further, maybe even show him her playful side.

I have a mage as well (I play rogues about 95% of the time and mages the rest), and it works so well there too, but the rogue line is still better to me. It's also in the delivery, IMO.

Actually, I suppose my Tala would have reacted differently than what I wrote up there. What I wrote was more how *I* would have reacted. ;D Hahah. Tala would have been like "O RLY? *steps closer*".

I can't actually think of another game I've played that's had the option to be an elf outside of Dragon Age! Hrm. Oh! Skyrim. Yeah, I picked an elf for Skyrim. Ah, and World of Warcraft, for a very brief spell. I played a troll in WoW, however.

So I suppose I should say: I like elves as a concept a lot, but only if there's some apparent meat behind them will I feel truly in love. ;3

I don't think it's that anyone's saying it's the best, it's that it happens to be some people's favourite. :) All of the flirts are awesome.

I was initially so put off by the baldness that I didn't even realize the rogue flirt at Haven was a flirt. That's my naive Lavellan...or rather naive me. The mage flirt would have been more obvious...and maybe a bit too forward given their short acquaintance.

I think there seems to be some general misunderstanding around the mage-specific flirt Solas dishes out. When he says "I have yet to see it dominated. I imagine the sight would be... fascinating", I think he's using the word dominated to mean something akin to overcome, rather than anything overtly sexual, or to do with BSDM or something. Hahah.

So to be fascinated by Lavellan's indomitable focus being dominated would mean Solas is suggesting he's enjoying the thought of something/someone capturing her attention so entirely as to witness her distracted/enraptured response (with him, presumably). I could be wrong, but that's my take on it.

Oh Solas, you smooth egg, you.

That's how I see it too, though you can read it both ways, even both ways at the same time.

Still, in all of those flirts he's definitely smooth. Even the warrior one - he's obviously been looking you over.
