I only have Skyrim for PS3, I'm afraid. :c I don't know if I'll ever manage to finish a playthrough, as the combat system really irks me. Stupid crosshair.

 

Well, if you do get it for PC I'd recommend modding it.  Much more fun.

They weren't specific enough so screw it. As long as you give a source, it's whatever. If they didn't want it reposted, they shouldn't have put it on the internet.

Usually I've seen it as a Tumblr thing, meaning to reblog it, so all the links to the source remain, rather than repost it, where there's no obvious credit and no links back.

 

Sharing a link with credit and such is acceptable.

Usually that's directed at the people who like to take art and then post it as a new post on their Tumblr, usually without credit, rather than just reblog it from the artist's page. There are a lot of people on Tumblr who like to steal art to increase the popularity of their blog.

The Avvar gods are spirits who are shaped by the rituals and traditions of the Holds. The gods are gods because the Avvar believe them to be so.

Perhaps the Elven Pantheon works the same way? Flemeth's "A soul is not forced upon the unwilling" line makes me wonder if the gods are spirits who took mortal form by joining with High Priests. Mythal retained some of her power because justice is a near-universal concept. Solas lost his since no one worships Fen'Harrel unless they're desperate.

I'm trying to write up a Solavellan scene but I can't seem to make this one go more than 350ish words. I keep using a less-detailed, internally-focused POV and I'd like to maybe add in more details to buffer the emotion, but until recently, I honestly haven't been writing creatively for a good while. I write professionally as part of my job and I feel like all the nonfiction, general stuff has kind of ruined my storytelling a bit.

 

So the end result is I keep writing really short snapshots. I have this latest one from Solas' POV. Maybe I'll try this same one from my Lavellan's POV and put them up together.

I often have the same problem coming from screenwriting back to prose, and it really takes me a while to get back into the swing of writing very descriptively about locations and thoughts. 

 

It may sound a bit dopey, but perhaps try writing out the piece in the form of poetry? With the intent to just jam as many metaphors and similes in as possible. Like, too many metaphors and similes. A gross amount. And then when you're done just strip out the good ones for use in your actual piece.

 

It's something I do to get back into the flow of describing things in more abstract (and poetic sounding) terms.

I haven't kept up with these forums enough lately to know if this theory is already out there, but I had a thought about what Solas may have been upset about they Grey Warden's plan to hunt down the Old Gods....Jaws of Hakkon spoilers...

So the dragon you fight is basically a god-dragon, a dragon who has a spirit bound to it. And they aren't really subtle about how this god-dragon is similar to an archdemon (with how orlais waa worried about fighting two god-dragons at once and all).

 

So...what if the old gods were just spirits that were bound to dragons? Then Solas would be against killing them for the same reason he was angry about the mages binding his friend - they were innocent spirits who don't deserve to die because of what others did to them. 

 

But who bound the spirits to the dragons? My thought is....it was the Forgotten Ones. There's that one codex in JoH by Geldauran, one of the Forgotten Ones, where he swears to claim power of his own to fight the "gods" (who he claims are not gods). 

 

So...maybe Fen'Harel, one of the "gods," was sympathetic to the "forgotten ones," as he recognized the cruelty of the other gods. So he joined their rebellion, but then the Forgotten ones bound spirits to dragons in attempt to win the war, which Fen'harel could not agree with, so he then locked both groups away. 

 

And then.....maybe the spirits believed only the ones who bound them to the dragons were capable of releasing them. So they convinced the tevinter magisters to try and break into the fade to release the forgotten ones, but that failed. So they went and his underground to protect themselves. 

 

I just don't know where the Blight comes in. I think Red Lyrium proves that the Blight was around long before the magisters went into the fade. Maybe the Blight had something to do with what the elven gods were doing (I've seen theories that Andruil might have gone crazy due to the blight or red lyrium or something) - so maybe they were blighted and trapped in the fade, and when the magisters went to the black city, they caught the blight from them? 

 

I dunno. Just some thoughts I had.
