Mine would consider Cassandra, Dorian, and Cole her friends. Leliana as well, after a time.  Dorian I headcanon as her closest friend, and I also imagine Cassandra would ask, though maybe be a little awkward about it,as she is in the banter post-vallaslin removal. Cole taught her some things, since she's Dalish, but it was definitely Solas who opened her mind about spirits and such first, which prepared her for Cole.

 

Mine is probably closest to those characters as well.  Plus Josie and Vivienne, in an older sister/cool aunt capacity.

 

After Solas leaves, my Lavellan becomes resident Fade spirit weirdo  She's not a mage, but she trains herself to dream with the Anchor, and between Solas's influence, Cole, and the Avvar, she learns to make pals with spirits too.  Jaws of Hakkon spoilers:

I headcanon that Hakkon was something like a very powerful spirit of Valor before he was bound and corrupted.  After the Avvar help him be reborn, she seeks Hakkon out in the Fade, and they become friends.  Mostly because I want a dragon spirit pal

Change of topic - am I right in that we don't know what Solas' eye color is? I mean, I've googled images and his eye color seems to change. I've been inspired by some shapshifter!Solas fanart to do some fanfic and I'd like his eyes to be distinguishable in animal form. I can get around it without a color, but I wanted to ask to be sure.

 

When I played on PS3 his eyes looked primarily grey-blue. When I've played on PS4, his eyes look blue, with hints of violet in the right light. Since elves eyes are supposed to be wondrously vivid and whatnot, I would guess they meant for his eyes to be grey-blue-violet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Huh. Hipster!Solas is kinda doing it for me right now. Even though he appears to nearly get his face smashed by raging hipster!Fenris.

 

Also, I like Blackwall's man bun. Nice touch.

My Tala considers Dorian her best friend in the Inquisition, with Cassandra (unexpectedly), Varric (predictably, because who isn't friends with Varric) and Sera (on a hot-cold basis) also becoming her good friends. And Iron Bull becomes a fairly good friend, too. Perhaps mostly because of his relationship with Dorian bringing them closer. 

 

She is fascinated by and protective over Cole, but finds it difficult to have what she considers a normal friendship with him, as she chose to keep him on the spirit path. He feels more like a beloved, disordered child to her. She's on friendly terms with the advisors, getting along best with Josephine, and struggles to trust Morrigan, is lukewarm on Blackwall and doesn't really get along with Vivienne.

 

Solas is the person she feels the strongest connection with, but it's not just friendship, so. Yeah. I struggle to imagine coming out of playing Inquisition feeling like your Inquisitor was friends with no one, personally. They're a nice bunch.

Solas is the person she feels the strongest connection with, but it's not just friendship, so. Yeah. I struggle to imagine coming out of playing Inquisition feeling like your Inquisitor was friends with no one, personally. They're a nice bunch.

 

I can definitely see some relationships being friendly but professional depending on how you play, and how you wanna headcanon.  Cullen, for example.  My Lavellan was actually scared of him at first (which is hilarious because Cullen is a harmless noodlehead), but it took them a while to get to the point where they understood each other.  Same with Bull; he and my Lavellan are friendly, but don't have a lot in common.  

 

But Dorian.  OMG, Dorian friendship.  He's the one who keeps my Lavellan happy, grounded, and sane when it feels like all of Thedas is conspiring to drive her crazy.

Telana and Ameridan forever. Their story... I fully admit I cried. My Lavellan has so much to think on now. Ameridan hit close to home. Too close. And I did it before the breakup, so she's taken Ameridan's words to heart and cherishing her moments with Solas further, ignorant of the impending end to the relationship, which I anticipate will make it hurt far deeper. Ameridan and Lavellan share the same beliefs, too! And it's not that I'm stealing Bioware's idea. Before the DLC was released - when I started my game - I decided she would hold beliefs for both the Maker and the pantheon. I have headcannon(s) for it, and backstory, that I may eventually write out. But the fact that Ameridan believes in the same, adding further similarity depth, is a bit haunting. My Lavellan is rather unnerved by it all.

"Even if the world forgets me, or distorts my legacy into something I'm not, promise me you never will. Promise to remember me as I am; as a person." I imagine she asks that of her inner circle.

Cole's "Hello!". Oh my God. I melted. It was adorable! SQUEE! Lavellan squeeze-hugging Cole is headcannon.

Dorian: You can't be serious.

Solas: Is that some sort of...bogfisher?

Cole: Bogfishers are supposed to be nice!

Damn it. I missed out on the Fen'Harel joke because I had to be intelligent. I was keeping an eye for it, too. Pfffffft. That joke was one of reasons I wasn't putting the DLC off for after he left. Too late now. I don't have an early enough save, unless I entirely restart the DLC. And I'm not up to a Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts redo after just completing it. I'll just be in my corner, sulking.

Anyway, the $15 was completely worth it. 10/10 would buy again. I loved it.

Yeah, one could certainly headcanon many of the relationships within the Inquisition as being fairly professional and not super close. However, if you're specifically looking for friendships to forge or embellish upon internally, it seems to me that they're pretty easy to come by. And I could see a young Dalish being intimidated by Cullen at first, actually. That's pretty cute. :3

 

And YES Dorian. Man, I love Dorian. I will ride the BFF-Dorian train so hard with you forever, Sable. I'm not even sure I can logically identify all of the precise reasons as to why I like him to the extent I do. Well. Maybe if I sat down and mapped it all out, but I don't want to do that. Let's just say that he gets my Lavellan's friend-affection forever and leave it at that.

This is pretty much sums up my canon too, except I sort of forgot Varric. Oops.

 

And yes, that is the issue with Cole. He's like a weird, wonderfully compassionate child. She loves him but you can't have a regular relationship with him. Solas though....

He was a soldier in his youth, hot blooded and cocky, veteran of some kind of war or something no one cares about.

 

PTSD completely burnt his mind out so he was discharged and shipped back home, and let loose upon the streets to make his own way. They let him keep his automatic rifle for sentimental reasons, because i'm just assuming this is in AMMURRKA.

 

He later gives it away to a fine upstanding youth named Cory, a radical pastafarian/communist sympathizer/vegan who assures him he will only use it for goodness and justice, whom he met at a lyrium rave at club cadash.

 

"you gave what to who!?"

 

"it seemed like a good idea at the time" smiled the bald man, crinkling his eyes mischievously as he continued to sift through the garbage bin for his dinner. "But to be fair, i think they were cutting the lyrium with some kind of red ****, i just assumed it was cherry koolaid"

If the story makes sense, and is told well, and does justice to the character of Solas and takes the romance into account in at least some way - and does the same for a friend Inquisitor - then I will be satisfied that this is the way the story had to be. If we get an Anders 2.0 I will probably lose a lot of my taste for the game. I'd much rather Solas not be the wrongevilbad dude who is making Huge Mistakes like everyone figures. Not because of bias, but because that would be a much more interesting story and depending on how it's told can seriously throw players for a loop and make them really think about things.

 

We've seen companions become villains of one sort or another. We've seen betrayal. We've seen someone intending to do what they believe is right and have to be Talked Down by the Great Hero. I'm ready for a story where the Great Hero really isn't the special snowflake who knows what the hell they are talking about and the "bad guy" actually does. A story where we have to save the day and murderknife a former companion or lover is just not going to do it for me at this point.
