Oh, man, we talking release day plans? Is it sad that I've had mine totally plotted out for a while now? ![]()
I've had my physical copy Deluxe Edition PS4 version preordered and paid in full since forever. I have taken vacation days off of work, that were Oct. 7th through the 10th but have since been shifted to Nov. 18th through the 21st accordingly, to match the delay.
Our local GameStop usually does midnight releases for big titles as long as they got enough preorders, so I'm hoping and counting on that. My plan is to go there about 11pm that Monday night, get my receipt stamped, hang out and chat with the crowd waiting... that's what I did for DA2's release. We actually had a fun little party, and I got to play with the PS3 motion wand thingie on some baseball game I've never played before and accidentally kicked the store manager's butt. I became legend after that because it was basically all guys there and I was the one lone token gamer chick. LOL
I will get my copy in my hot little hands and instantly take a picture of it in my car and post it on Facebook and Twitter, labeled "My Preciooooouuuussss...."
I will then get home and have to, unfortunately, go to bed because hubby will be asleep and in need of going to work the next day. But at least DA:I will be in my house and that means I can play it as soon as I wake up instead of waiting until GameStop opens at 10am Tuesday.
So, when he leaves for work, I'll be up and loading that bad boy into my PS4. I will fill my little metal bucket with ice and about 5-6 beers. I will take one last update photo for social networks showing the beer bucket (at, like, 8am, LMAO), the PS4 controller, and DA:I's game package.
And then nobody will see or hear from me again for the next 6 days. Hubby will helpfully bring food at the appropriate times because he's a total bro/enabler like that. He's a gamer, too, so he understands.
It will be pure ecstasy. I really can't wait.
And I could circumvent a lot of that by buying a digital copy instead and pre-downloading it or whatever. But I still have this thing. I want my game disc. And I like that feeling of going and picking it up at midnight with all the other hardcore gamers. It's like the Christmas morning ritual. Some things should not be changed, they must simply... be.
