Blaaah, new DLC still isn't out for PS4. Though I've had essays and Pillars of Eternity to keep me occupied in the meantime (speaking of which, PoE is totally worth it, can't recommend it enough. Elf mages will be the death of me).
I am going to randomly jump in from lurking and ask what Fen'Harel joke in the dlc? What party do I need to get that? I had cass, varric and solas with me and I don't think I got it with those three. Though there banter and comments together were excellent through out the dlc. I did the dlc right before the final battle with cory, so he didn't leave yet, but after he dumped me.
I also get the sense that the Bioware team really likes Solas? Like, after there was that whole big backlash about him being the worst, they really seemed to come out and try to defend him and explain some of his motivations in a way they haven't for the other characters.
I don't recall this
I got the impression that most people liked him, or were more-or-less indifferent toward him. At the very least, he doesn't seem to inspire the same extremes of hatred as say, Merrill or Anders.

Or maybe I was sort of imagining that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, first thing that happened was that people found that set of dev notes that clarified what happened at the end (Solas killed Flemeth, Flemeth knew it was gonna happen). Bioware leaving that in there was, I believe, just an oversight on their part.
Then Patrick Weekes was asked a lot about Solas when he was on Nerdappropriate's podcast (because we and various other people sent them a lot of questions about Solas), and he tried to clarify his motivations a bit, especially with regards to the romance.
If anything's happened since then I'm not aware of it. Other than Mike Laidlaw acknowledging that there are a looot of people who want to know what's up with that last scene, and hinting that future DLC will give us an answer.

Ahhh, this makes sense. But I do feel like Weekes didn't need to be so forthcoming with details. They've remained tight-lipped about divisive companions before.
Hmm, A40 looks rather bright blue to me. Solas' eyes to me looks like a slightly duller grey-blue color, but then again it could depend on the lighting.
As for my Tala, her eyes are a mint green color (like veilfire, sort of? veilfire eyes, lol xD) so I don't know what color her eyes would fall in the eye color chart. A20 maybe?
I suspect my monitor's calibration isn't helping me here. ;D I can never seem to get the balance to display as accurately as I'd like.
But yeah, I pretty much agree with you. Grey-blue eyes, primarily. Though they definitely show hints of violet in particular lighting. I didn't notice any of the violet until I played on PS4 however, so I think it's pretty subtly rendered.
I would like to propose we identify the colour of Solas' eyes once and for all as: dreamy.

I feel your pain. But they've said they're announcing the DLC release date for PS4 players this week, so stay strong!

I've only seen the violet part of his eyes from close-up screenshots that people have posted on his thread.
If I ever buy myself a PS4 (and DA:I along with it) I'm just going to spend a lot of my time staring at his eyes. ![]()

Yes, dreamy.
Dreamy, expressive, and at times, sad puppy eyes.

A new RPG by Obsidian Entertainment in the same vein as Baldur's Gate and in a way, Dragon Age: Origins. It's got great reviews, and personally, I want to play it myself. ![]()

Blue-grey, Grey-blue, something like that.
I have a picture of my eyes though this pic is a couple of years old taken by my ex but they are still the same color (spoiles cuz of the size):
I think Solas' eyes probably don't quite fall into this chart, due to him being a fantasy being and all. ;D But if I had to pick from this I'd place him maybe closer to A40? Maybe a mix of A30 and A40. I think A30 on its own looks too green overall.
Matter of perspective I guess.
Personally I don't see any green in A30.

Hmm, agreed.
Veilfire eyes! How pretty! If it makes you feel better my Lavellan's eye color is not on the chart either. Her's are sort of a gold/amber/golden brown, or something.

We are supposed to get news on when we get the DLC for PS4 next week.
EDIT:
'd
I never get tired of that gif. ![]()
I personally can't see Solas as a main antagonist. I hope they don't do that. Even non-Lavellan players might have a hard time hunting down and killing their old elfy pal.
I agree. Personally I think he is getting tricked into doing something Mythal wants him to, but that is neither here nor there.
That jawline.
Yes!!! ![]()

That is not surprising, as blue eyes are supposed to look purple in certain lighting. I don't remember her name but there is supposed to be an actress famous for having purple eyes when in reality they are just deep blue, but hit them with the right lighting and you get purple.
Anyway, headcanon accepted! Solas' eye color is dreamy!

Pretty! I think you might be central heterochromatic! I want this sort of eye color for my Trevelyan but can't manage it in the game.
What is this Pillars of Eternity people keep talking about?
It's an RPG by Obsidian! Makers of Planescape: Torment, NWN2, KOTOR 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and others. It's in the style of the old Infinity Engine games (think Baldur's Gate), but a lot more polished and accessible.
I've only played about 10 hours so far, but it's amazing. It's extremely well-written, especially the characters. Currently got more than a bit of a crush on the first one I got, a Pale Elf wizard named Aloth. I won't spoil too much, but he's a son of an aristocratic family that's come to Dyrwood (both a frontier and kind of a backwater) for some mysterious reason. He's...very interesting.

Goddamn elf mages.

My eyes are like this (with the A30 blue). I tried really hard to get the same effect for my Inquisitor, but ended up putting the gold on her outer iris because it wouldn't show otherwise.

Did that work with your Inquisitor? I may have to try again. It could be it didn't work for me because I was trying to do it with a teal(ish) and a dark blue.

Your eye colour is gorgeous. *0*
And thanks for all the info about PoE, guys!
Edit: What the--how did this get top? Uh. The butt-grab:
Blue-grey, Grey-blue, something like that.

Oh, we're doing this right now? Oh man, and everyone has bright eyes. Where are my other T50s? Where are my Andrew Scott looking people whose pupils aren't distinguishable most of the time?
... My Lavellan has D40s.

Elizabeth Taylor, learn your actors people. It's good for you.

"Goddamn elf mages" indeed. XD
Between Sand from NWN2, Merrill from DA2, SOLAS from DAI, and now Aloth from PoE, I'm starting to think I have a problem.

I searched "Pillars of Eternity" in this thread and it looks like Aloth is already pretty popular among you guys. ![]()
At this rate we're going to need to start an "Elfaholics Anonymous" or something.

There were a few T50's if I recall. My husband also has T50's.

What?!?!? Why? They are pretty.

Solas was actually the first time an elf was my favorite. I usually go for the male humans LIs. ![]()
i would loose my nuggets
but everyone lost their **** over ME3's ending and it sold really well, so i think the devs maybe got some mixed signals there
do we or do we not enjoy having our hearts ripped out of our chests?
We I absolutely do not enjoy getting my heart ripped out *thinks of ME3*, *cries*, I like angst with somewhat positive outcome in the end.
I'll be surprised and annoyed if Solas is ever made a full on antagonist.
I'm probably T17, but a bit darker ![]()
