Just announced Jaws of Hakkon won't come out to other platforms until MAY

So PS4, PS3, and Xbox 360 owners still have to wait one more month! D:

<snip interesting stuff>

That's my issue with her as well - it didn't stop me from being friends with her, but that's only because as a player I have to be friends with everybody - but yeah, she never grows.  Not in any really meaningful way.   They may do more with her in DLC as the elf stuff comes to the forefront and she has to actually confront this head on.  Which could be pretty powerful.  But in the base game, BW sort of tip-toed right up to the edge with her and just...dropped it.  You know she's afraid. You know she's questioning her faith. You see it and I feel for her, but then the writers did...nothing.  She just spits it back at you and loves you when you call her stupid.  I like Sera. I do. I like having her around to chill out with, but I want her to grow up a bit.  I

Well again, it's not so much that she has these aspects to her character, it's that she's extreme. She's basically a child, so her emotions rule her and prevent her from being able to move beyond the base instinct to something more considered. That's fine- if you're actually a child. In an adult who should know better, I have no patience with it. The Inquisitor shouldn't have to parent their allies.

This is true, but there are actually a lot of people like this. Like people say, "What's an adult?" Lol, adults rarely live up to the title from what I've seen of other people. Sera's most ironic quote is "People are stupid." Indeed, Sera. *Stares*

Anyway, I didn't mean it as a credit to her character, but it is still funny that she's an elf telling me, a Trevelyan that I'm too elfy. It's ironic, no matter how you look at it that she holds onto Andrastian faith more than you do regardless of the reason, and even if of course, being a zealot doesn't make you more "faithful". Despite my original wording.

It'd be like you telling me how foolish the Dalish are one day and I'm sticking up for them more than you. It's just odd.

Yeah, people living in Thedas don't have much hope to hold onto to begin with, the poor things.

It's surprising to see that they haven't developed a very pessimistic religion yet, one in which they just accept their mortal fate and lack of control over anything.

Well there's the Qun... I was just going to point out that this doesn't have to be a religion, ie it doesn't have to involve a divinity, it could just be a philosophical approach to life like stoicism...

So if we get to play the Inquisitor in another game and there are more love interests to choose from, do you think your Lavellan would move on (like Shepard with Garrus/Tali/etc. in ME2 from Kaidan/Ashley/Liara) or would you have her keep searching/hoping for Solas?

Yeah indeed, that's also what I meant. And I definitely hope that the Qun are going to be more developed in next games. Even though a huge part of me can't stand some part of their moral/belief system, I'm so curious to see more of it anyway.

but that's only because as a player I have to be friends with everybody -

I don't have this problem, lol. First playthrough, I try to run everyone in the party to give all the characters a fair shake and hear their dialogue. Her dialogue was entertaining for a little while. I did Sera's personal quest, once. After that I read some threads to see if I've missed something. And with her, it appears that you either find her personality appealing and can excuse her flaws, or not. Or you dig the teenage riot grrl thing. Sera reminds me of chicks I knew in my college dorm. I was usually dodging their puke in the shower on Sunday mornings.

You see it and I feel for her,

I don't have this problem, either. :D

Agh, I hope we don't have to play the same protagonist. But I would definitely not move on.

In fact Solas seems to be pretty much a signed up stoic already...

It would honestly depend on Solas, and on the new potential LI.  So for example, as much as I adore Abelas, I wouldn't want to romance him next.  If we get nothing regarding Solas, I think I'd be fine with my Lavellan moving on if it makes for a good story, and the new LI is worth it.  She's only 23, she can't spend the rest of her life hung up on a guy even if he is an ancient elvhen god :D

Well, if Solas still seem to care for her, my Darel would still hope for him and wait. My Shepards left Kaidan/Ashley (never did a Liara run. I felt too much like the devs wanted at every cost my characters to be with her. That make me like her very little.) because they treated them in a very hurtful way. They had moved on, and my Sheps moved on too.

And Garrus is too much superior (in my eyes) to Kaidan

But I can say one thing: even if I'm happy for most of my character with the romance they have in DAI, Tithen, my Dwarfette, would leave Blackwall in a moment, if Varric was open for a romance. I'm waiting for a Dwarf/Dwarf romance from forever. :P

Probably. Depends entirely.  All she knew is that he was an elf that left her. She doesn't know he's Fen'Hare,l so she has no real desire to search for him beyond her own feelings and she wouldn't waste her friends' time like that.  She knows leliana is sending out scouts but after a time...meh.  So if someone good comes along, she'll bite.

I think it's also quite possible to find any character's personality appealing and not excuse their flaws. ;)

That all depends on who is available. My Lavellan is waiting for Solas to come back, but she can only wait so long. If another handsome elf comes along, who knows.

It's really hard to say just what my Lavellan would do since, if we're talking about this within the context of another game, I don't know how her character might have developed by that point.

As it is now, I don't think she would move on particularly easily. In part because of that fact that, even though Solas ends the relationship (and leaves), it's painfully obvious that he's still in love with her. So there's not a lot of closure there. It's a confusing situation and I think she definitely wants answers or at least closure in some form before she can try and move on. Not this open ended 'I love you but we can never be together because of reasons' business. That just won't fly. She's also far too proud to waste the Inquisitions resources looking for him. So there's another complication.

However, I think what would really stop her from getting involved with anyone else is the fact that her relationship with Solas was both very intense and very public, and I think she'd be wary of putting herself in that position again now that she's at the helm of this huge organisation where her every action is under enormous scrutiny.

As much as I would want my girl to be faithful...I don't know.  It would take time, but if the right person came along and they spent enough time together, maybe she would consider moving on.  I think it depends on how much time has passed and if she hardened herself off from the break-up, and whether or not Solas wanted to resume things.  That's what makes it so hard to say, he pushed her away but he still loves her, so it's a catch 22 situation for my poor girl xD

I mean, live with their flaws. Be able to tolerate them and still enjoy the character.

They seem to want a new protagonist per game, so that likely won't happen, but I don't know. I don't see her being open to it for quite a while. I played ME2 and romanced no one since my Shepard loved Liara, so ....it depends. At least she got to be with Liara again in Lair of the Shadow Broker.

May?  Seriously?!  That sucks.  By May I'd be waiting for the announcement of the next DLC not expecting people on certain platforms to not even have the first one.  I hope this is the only time they do this.

Ah, so you mean finding a character's personality appealing and accepting their flaws, while not necessarily excusing them? Yeah, I definitely agree with that. It's very possible to establish and carry on a friendship with someone even if their ideals/behaviour/processes differ a fair bit from your own on various levels while still maintaining your own integrity, for sure. :)
