Yea Viviean is divine victoria in my version, and I asked her to stay for a while, which she did. And Dorian considered me his best and only friend. What was bioware thinking of possibly risking the chance of you not having any mages, unless your character is one, or we get a story based dlc mage character.

You can also end up with no fighters. If Cass becomes Divine and you don't ask her to stay, you don't recruit Blackwall (or let him be executed) and you don't recruit Iron Bull. The only class you always have is rogue as I don't think there's any way for Varric to leave.

Thats true,but those are conscious choices. Though Vivienne and Dorian are also conscious choices to possibly not have as companions, Solas was a person that you originally would not have none that he would be permantly gone post game. You can be a jerk and try to make him leave, but until end game you cant(unless I'm mistaken).
I'm sure it is hard. But the way I see it is like this: Losing a character is fine, getting a unique version A or B secnario is fine, not romancing someone is fine, having all characters of a certain class who benefit in combat, and needs to unlock areas in which you could have done at any other time throughout the whole game is not fine.
You have choice, though. It's also pretty in-character. Say Solas would leave if you punched him and told him to, for example, that you refused to recruit Vivienne, and knocked Dorian out. If one feels like one may require them in the future, perhaps they should have been treated accordingly... just a thought. One might also think of it as preserving a mage, since one is guaranteed never to leave or be gotten rid of until the 'game' proper is over. That they allowed playing post-completion (without DLC) seems to partially contribute to the impression that they are taking something away.

In a scenario(where you don't know the ending) you can say I want no mages in my playthough so I will try to do that the best that I can. Then realize that Solas just wont leave the party. Then he is your only mage and you might say I'm going to unlock this magical barrier at a later date, or raise this bridge another time. Then you beat the game and Solas leaves the game and your like, well that is what I originally wanted but since I didnt know that I would loose this mage no matter what, I cant go and do those other activities at a latter date. Consequence? I guess so, but screwing you of content after assuming you will always have this one mage that you cant loose is not good imo.

But DA:I has enough variety in the companions that you should be able to find at least ONE person of each class who doesn't drive you batty.

As much as I would want my girl to be faithful...I don't know. It would take time, but if the right person came along and they spent enough time together, maybe she would consider moving on. I think it depends on how much time has passed and if she hardened herself off from the break-up, and whether or not Solas wanted to resume things. That's what makes it so hard to say, he pushed her away but he still loves her, so it's a catch 22 situation for my poor girl xD

More an emotional stand of solidarity between them, because your Lavellan isn't done with the feelings surrounding their relationship and believes it's the same for Solas, or is hopeful for the future, and would like to be able to have remained, er, committed to Solas in the time between if their relationship starts up again?
I think it's quite possible my Tala would engage in some kind of emotionally unhealthy rebound sex with a relative stranger if enough time passes without a word from him. Because she has strong emotions, and will be mad. And because delicious, harmless video-game inspired headcanon drama. *cackles*

I dreamed once that my Levallan was crying and Dorian was kissing her tears away. He kissed her lips so softly, there was no passion or lust..it was sweet. He loves her so much, but there is nothing there, he wishes there was. He also wants to find Solas and kick his arse!
