If Solas isn't pleased to see Lavellan under the Well bound, chances are he might have the power to release her from it anyway.

I do not think that's going to be the case for about 1000 reasons but the biggest one is the shitstorm BW would get. Not least of all people unknowingly being locked out the romance. Then, there's the implication of being "controlled" by an ex-bf...if you thought BUll/Dorian shitshow was bad. BW is not that dark. I think they will make it very clear, all that Solas has is Flemeth's "power" like she was a battery. The godhood - the thing that would control the well - is not his per the dev notes. If he has it, it is something he can't use or has to store.
To clarify - I don't think that Solas would ever use Mythal's geas on the Inquisitor, especially one he was either in a relationship with or had a high friendship with. That's not his nature. But he also wouldn't be able to continue the relationship with her. His views on freedom wouldn't allow that. And, like you said, the Bull/Dorian poopstorm was bad enough. If Lavellan was bound to Solas and the romance continued, even at Lavellan's urging, Bioware would never hear the end of it. Ever.

I see, I misread and thought you were saying he objected to her being bound at all.He only absorbed Mythal's power after the orb broke and his plans changed. Now he has Mythal's power of her it's changed the dynamtic of their relationship. I can't see a man with Solas' views on freedom be willing to have a girlfriend who was bound to him. Even if he never used the hold he has over her he couldn't go back into that relationship.
Eh, maybe, but it seems like he could free her. I think when he removes the vallaslin, he's doing more than just cleaning her skin. Also it seems to me that Flemeth frees you if you ask her to in the Fade, so it ought to be possible for Solas. Guess we'll have to see.

Yeah. In game - yes - I don't see Solas staying with the inquisitor. But for questions like this, it's easier for me to see what BW would do as a company and I just don't even see that even being a slight possibility. I could be very very wrong, but they seem to be very sensitive to implications of non-consent stuff. The Solas fandom at large is already so ridiculously over-senstive to EVERYTHING and it's already such an emotionally charged romance that they are going to be very careful with how he is presented in the future. I think it's important to bear that in mind when thinking about what happens next.

Now I'm just thinking of Origins and being able to strip Daveth and Ser Complains-A Lot just before the Joining.
*eyes Solas* Would have made his leaving a tad less painful if he did so in his small clothes.
I love him to pieces but he won't be getting my best gear ever again.
Really, really behind on this convo. Just catching up with the thread.
It is interesting. First time he left, I too kind of cursed the fact he took off with some pretty awesome gear. I honestly thought that it would just end up back in my inventory.
However, now I always give him fantastic armor and a kickin' staff. Why? Because I am a big sloppy sap, that's why!

Not necessarily, since the orb was still intact and he had plans to recover it. Once that orb was broken, his plans had to change to plan B and thus, he went for the nearest divine battery.
I don't quite understand... Addai asked if Solas wouldn't have broken up right after Lavellan drank from the well if he really cannot accept being with somebody who willingly submitted to someone else. This is a valid point.
So what has the orb to do with it? If we think he is so high on morale that he would not use his power to direct Lavellan, and could not stay together with her for ethical reasons, why would he use her as divine battery and keep the relationship going to that end? That does not quite add up.

Eh. I think he would rather kill them. They woud be free. I know it sounds ridiculous, but he seems to think death is preferable to living under the Qun. So for him to control his own BFF or LI - no - I don't think he could.

On an off-topic note. I'm in a gaming rutt at the moment. Don't know why, but I just fancy a game where you explore, build your own little homestead and grow some crops, tend some animals, build shiny things etc. I've tried Haven & Hearth, modded Skyrim and Minecraft etc. even Archage, but they only scratch an itch so far. (Haven & Hearth was probably the closest but it's empty and I hate pvp.
Can anyone think of some alternatives. I've been googling the hell out of it, but I'm coming up with duds.

That pretty much defines Harvest Moon or Rune Factory. Rune Factory has a bit more of a fantasy edge, but both titles might be a bit cutesy if you aren't into anime graphics.

If he is left with no choice I think he would, after being given a beatdown by the inquisitor I don't think he would turn down the 'I control your soul' card.
I certainly wouldn't. ![]()

I'm not so sure. If the Inquisitor who drank from the Well opposed him, two of his most fundamental character values would come into conflict. His respect for personal freedom, and his determination to achieve his goals. Right now, we don't really know which is more important to him since they've never conflicted like that. It would certainly be an interesting scenario to see.

That's pretty much what I meant. I don't think Solas would stay with Lavellan due to his own views, and because BW wouldn't want anything that could be read as non-consentual. I just probably wasn't expressing myself well.
I just hope I'm completely wrong Inky is bound to Barkspawn or something. 'Minion! I command more tummy rubs! And a treats! Lots of treats! And later a ball which you shall throw for me!'

Rune Factory. RF3 is my favourite. It's Harvest Moon with fantasty RPG elements. So you get all the farming and dating sim stuff from a Harvest Moon game with dungeon exploration, crafting and stats. Lots of stats. Based on your description it's probably not as much freedom as you're looking for in a game but it's good fun.

I would assume, yes because the way Abelas talks about how his duty is done and he was bound similarly. He's free. Free to be sexy and roam.
Since Mythal - Flemeth is dead I'm calling it - may have a use for you yet, she's not going to just let that go. Possibly once done she'll let you go.

Eh, my Dragonborn was bound to Nocturnal and that never bit her in the ass. I'm sure quizzy will be fine ![]()
Though I honestly don't think it would be that hard to implement consequences for drinking from the Well. I suppose the simplest way would be to deprive the player of a choice they otherwise could have taken, due to whomever controls the Well compelling them to pick a particular outcome. That would hit hard, but probably cause a lot of player rage. Though at that point, IMO if you wanted consequence, there it is. In the meantime, the Well should give quizzy perks beyond a dragon and some codex entries.

Team Optimism Here!
I know that some people have said that the Jaws of Hakkon story is a
So my team optimism says that there will be a way for us to unite with & make a semblance of a happy ending with Solas. I also forsee them having ways for it to stay a sad story, but Bioware especially in DA:I has made a point of telling us our choices matter and can change the outcome of an individual if not the overall outcome. So maybe we can affect Solas's choices but ultimately he's just a cog in the greater wheel and we'll still have to deal with what he was dealing with but together.
