I am not okay with this.

 

Today has been a day for Not Okay fanworks.  Red Lyrium Fenris, Red Lyrium Carver and now this.

This was shared last month. But the rest of her solas/lavellan stuff is good. SO GOOD. so well written. 

 

Oh, that was wonderful.  Sad, but touching.  The more I see of the game and the more I think about, I start to think that bittersweet is the best we're going to get.

 

Of course, that just leads to me writing all the fluff because that's how I deal with the sads.

Hi everyone! I don't post on the forums very often but I lurk this thread every once in awhile. I too am a victim of Solas love. 

This has been sitting on my mind for some time, and knowing that our friend/LOVER Solas is an expert on the fade and has a great knowledge of spirits, what do you believe Solas would tell/think of Anders merging with Justice?

IDK if this has been discussed yet but I've always wanted to know what people thought of this lol

I think people can and do enjoy different things. Personally, I've never replayed Origins since I felt completely satisfied, and my Warden married Alistair and lived. That kind of ending, nothing could top it. Though I have been kind of itching to replay recently due to lore and things.

 

As I've mentioned before, my Hawke was running off with Anders somewhere, helping him. I left Stroud behind so that there might be an eventual chance she'd return to Anders and help keep him together. (I hope...)

 

And now, this, with Solas. All of these stories are different and had their impact on me.

 

Even with Mass Efffect, my Shepard was with Liara across the series, but their relationship also had its....complications. It felt realistic, and so did the ones my DA PCs have had.

 

There's just SO much going on under the surface with Solas, and he's such a tragic character, that it adds up to something else, and the lack of closure is more glaring.

Oh, definitely! I didn't mean to imply that we each enjoy only one thing, only that I'm happy to have things go sour if I think it works well for the characters and makes for a satisfying story. I wouldn't want it every time, though.

 

I made a character sheet using MTC - http://hchomgoblin.tumblr.com/ - template.  I obviously CANNOT draw for ****.  But I had fun! My Lavellan is such a goody-two shoes.  It's relevant because Solas is on there with a kissie heart.

I don't want to pick favourites, but this might actually be my favourite...

The amount of sincere joy I get from seeing people do these, I can't even tell you. It would get me beat up on the playground, or something.

This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It even comes COMPLETE with a mirrored orb of mystery! 11/10 for the make-up. It really brings out the color of his eyes. They've never looked more violet.

 

 

It's true. Although Elora made me feel the strongest feels I've ever had when all she did was mention Battle Star Galactica and Sam. I flat out lost my feelings ****. SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM~! No one has ever made me feel the way Sam does. I have a special corner of my heart carved out just for him.

Although I just read through Nikki's fanfiction and we found a GLORIOUS bit of character development and growth for rocky candy prisoner husbando Samson JUST for you guys...

 

I have all the Sam feels.  But Apollo is my number one guy.

I'd think he would be quite angry with Anders.  Look at how he reacts to Cole asking to be bound.

So as someone who really likes both Solas and Anders as characters...I honestly think Solas would be rather horrified.  Not at the idea of spirit merger per se; he's down with making pals with spirits, and he doesn't view them with the same fear as most Thedosians.

And he seems supportive of the Avvar's spirit customs in the DLC.  At the very least, he doesn't object to the idea of a mage having a spirit companion.

 

But I don't think he'd approve of HOW Anders and Justice went about the whole thing.  For starters, despite all his protests against the Chantry, Anders has a very Andrastian view of the Fade.  There are good spirits and evil demons, and that black-and-white view is something that Solas disdains.  Solas also implies that having preconceived notions of spirits winds up shaping the spirit itself; if you think a Wisdom spirit will be a Pride demon, it will adjust to reflect your view.  If anything, I think he'd see Anders and Justice's merger as a tragic but dangerous mistake, performed by a mage who knew too little to perform it safely.  And I don't think he'd be at all down with the subsequent corruption of Justice.  He makes a point of telling Cole how rare and precious good spirits are, and how the world can ill-afford to lose them.

One of Sister Nightingale’s little birds, my lady’ and had spent the last few hours fitting her for a dress while she and Josephine filled Lavellan in on the political situation in Orlais.
‘For a spy you’re very blunt’ Lavellan said
‘I’m not a spy, love. I’m a dressmaker.’
‘A dressmaker who is familiar with the private lives of every noble coming to Halamshiral?’
‘I’m a bloody good dressmaker.’
‘If I may continue, Inquisitor?’ Josephine interjected, politely, yet very firmly.

Umm. I don't have it anymore. I didn't publish it anywhere, I wrote it on paper and said paper is gone. Maybe I should rewrite it....

I concur with Sable. That is fantastic! Have no idea on ideal builds for PE (don't own the game), but I think - if it is feasible - to keep those stats. They feel so right!

How do I get custom images in PoE?

 

Pretty simple! Go to your Pillars of Eternity folder. 

 

Pillars of Eternity > Data > Art > GUI > Portraits > Player

If you have steam, it'll be in your steam folder. So something like steam > steamapps > common > [ect]

If you have mac, you need to right click on the pillars application and select 'show package contents'. Then go into contents > resources > game [right click show package contents] > data > art > GUI > Portraits >player. 

 

There is a male and a female folder. But both genders show up so it probably doesn't matter which you put it in. Each image needs a large file and a small, and you have to label them correctly. 

 

So lets say I was making a Solas portrait.

 

1. File one: solas_lg.png [ 210 x 330 pixels ]

2. File two: solas_sm.png [ 76 x 96 pixels ]

 

Save those two into the folder, and bam! New portrait.

Though knowing Obsidian, the PC in Pillars of Eternity is going to die in some horrible, traumatic fashion or something worse than death.  Maybe not.

I hope so! I had a hard time determining if I wanted Solas to be the druid or not. He'd get the awesome wolf form... but on the other hand priest fits his play style more. They even had a god of dreams that values cleverness. 

 

Unfortunately there's no bird form for Morrigan, so she's the wolf in the party.

I just get the feeling that what Mythal wants, and what Solas wants, are two different things and Solas doesn't know it.

I can now imagine the Solas story arc finale to be his gathering of power to perform the ritual that he believes will "help the People" whatever that is. Mythal, via the Well memories through Morrigan or directly to the Inquisitor, summons them to the ritual place as she knows that the power of the Anchor is needed. Solas doesn't know this. They get there and it's a huge reveal. Mythal says that the power of the Anchor is needed and that the Quizzy must die for it to be released. Solas is horrified as he didn't want the Quizzy to be involved and now Mythal says they must be sacrificed. Mythal points out that he is was more than willing previously to kill for the greater good. Angst ensues.

 

Depending on how you play, you can either reason with Solas and make him see his folly, which may then prompt a huge battle only with Mythal. Or, you instead attack Solas and you must defeat them both. Or maybe, you can bargain with Mythal to work towards her revenge with your combined power and armies. In which case you only defeat Soias.

 

 

Or something like that. :-) Oh I do love a good speculation. May even do a fan fic of my desired ending...once I get round to finishing the ones I already started that is.

Oh god.  I think of all the potential outcomes to the Solavellan story arc, having the woman he loves die on his behalf, or because of something that he did, would utterly wreck him.  It'd be one thing if the two of them became enemies or otherwise in opposition to one another.  But he already had to witness Flemythal sacrificing her power for him, and he looked so sad in that scene.  Having it happen with Lavellan would IMO be infinitely worse for him.

And my added scenario (since you know they did it in DA:I) is...what if they forced me to choose between Alistair & my warden and Solas & my Inky?  I mean...I'd sacrifice Hawke in a minute on a playthrough with Warden Alistair, but could I really sack Alistair....  I'm thinking it depends if I get a happy ending for Solas.  I might make the sacrifice in that case.

This is my sad Solavellan reading music, btw.  I first read that hallhart fic to this.  if I read a particularly lovely, sad fic and I'm listening to this it amps up the feels.  It's good to be reminded that one has a heart, that one is capable of feeling pain.
