Oh god.  I think of all the potential outcomes to the Solavellan story arc, having the woman he loves die on his behalf, or because of something that he did, would utterly wreck him.  It'd be one thing if the two of them became enemies or otherwise in opposition to one another.  But he already had to witness Flemythal sacrificing her power for him, and he looked so sad in that scene.  Having it happen with Lavellan would IMO be infinitely worse for him.

 

Oh dear.

I'd add another scenario outcome to that:

 

We willingly sacrifice ourself with the Anchor to help Solas.

 

The thought that the Inquisitor might need to sacrifice themselves to right whatever jacked up biz is going on with the Pantheon occurred to me too.

 

And then I had to stop thinking about it because my Lavellan would do pretty much anything to save her people and I could just imagine her heroically dying in the pursuit of that ideal, leaving Solas alone to spend the rest of eternity contemplating the cost of his victory...

 

...Aaaaand that's about where I stopped thinking about this. Where is this blanket fort, because I need it.

Yeah. I think with Mythal at least - she wasn't what she once once. She is still clinging to life.  It's not an existance you would wish on your worst enemy and she's only really hanging around to make sure she gets justice. 

 

He would be horrified if it was a Lavellan/friended Inquisitor.  I mean, if the inquisitor dies - that solves the problem of - what the hell do you do with them next game. I vote they just go wander the fade together forever.  THE END.  Indiana jones adventures and closes plot issues but leaves them open for both to reappear again.

This is my sad Solavellan reading music, btw.  I first read that hallhart fic to this.  if I read a particularly lovely, sad fic and I'm listening to this it amps up the feels.  It's good to be reminded that one has a heart, that one is capable of feeling pain. 

 

I made. I made a horrible, horrible hellspiral for myself in my fic. I'm literally dead inside. That's how sad it is. I haven't even written it yet and I don't know if I have it in me to write such a monstrosity of an ending...

Agreed. Best case scenario they wander happily into the sunset Fade Korrasami style, and spend the rest of their bliss-filled lives hanging out with cool spirits and Fade-spying on everyone they know.

 

That's what I would do.

This is my struggle. I edit writing for a living and it makes finding fics I can actually stand to read so, so difficult. (I end up wanting to whip out my red pen and fix stuff. It's bad.)

There are also actually really sweet/fluffly/hellspirally stuff on non-canon(and canon - glares at Sable) things. You will feel things for the magisters that you didn't know you could.  Mostly just sadness and despair.  Sethius just wants to hear them again. He just wants there to be no doubt.  He just wants the temple to no longer be so quiet.

I almost want to do this just with Solas and Lavellan.  So they can have a universe where they're together.

 

Though knowing Obsidian, the PC in Pillars of Eternity is going to die in some horrible, traumatic fashion or something worse than death.  Maybe not.

This is why I have my Sims game...I regret nothing!

 

I also had a DA dream last night involving Solas, it was weird.  He was running from the Pantheon (who all seemed pretty p*ssed at him) and he was dressed in that fancy wolf garb I keep seeing in the numerous fanarts (the wolf skin cloak thing) I also got to talk to him, it was pretty cool.  I could have happily stayed to see how things played out if I didn't have to get up for work (and have a mosquito buzzing around my head in the early morning...stupid insects)

Holy crap, Liz! Thank you for linking this song. I've heard it, I liked it, but never knew who the artist was. Well, other than "she sounds a bit like Katy Perry but isn't." Guess I'm going to listen to this while I write more Abelas, even though it doesn't fit the fic mood at all, lol.
