Speaking of hats, I wonder what Solas is going to have for his hat armor slot, or if it'll be replaced with something else like what's going on with the Qunari.
He wears socks on his ears.

Oh, they're not bad, really. Not my thing, but credit to them for sounding the same live as they do on the radio. And they have very good hair.
But when confronted with the question, "Mom, who do you think is the hottest?" I can only respond, "Um, I feel like me even trying to figure out an answer to that is illegal. So...no. Just no."
I think the best thing for the release day delivery would be a Sloth mask. Like from Goonies. Then when he looked up I could yell "HEY YOU GUYS!" My only fear is that he'd drop the game and stomp on it, possibly breaking it. That would not be okay. Me having a nervous breakdown in my foyer wearing a Sloth mask is very not okay.
I can't say too much, SHINEE's Lucifer is currently playing on my youtube tab. *shrugs* My tastes are all over the board.
*dies several times over* YES, I would feel the same way.
I was sitting here nodding. Yeah, no that would be bad, then "Me having a nervous breakdown in my foyer wearing a Sloth mask is very not okay." You're killin me tonight, Drac, XD The amazing mental images you're giving me! Thank you! I needed the laugh today, I really did!
Ah! IT GOT CUTER.
I love it now I'm imagining it in Skyhold...
Sera: It's coming!
Iron Bull: How can you tell?
Sera: LOOK. [points at the outer fringe of a hat that is seemingly floating by itself in the doorway]
Viv: Why do you let him him wear that foolish thing. [glowering]
Inquisitor: WHY DO I LET YOU WEAR YOURS. [snatch]
chaos and fire ensue.
I do so hope we can have reactions like this. I really would be frustrated whenever I made the mistake of having Fenris and Merril in my party together in DA2. The **** he'd say to her!!! So, I really hope we can react to douchery in a proportionate manner.

Oh, I hope he can wear hats. Part of the joy of Origins, and something I sorely missed in DA2, was the ability to have the group running around in terrible and/or hilarious head gear. Given that Viv and Cole already have theirs going on, I've got my fingers crossed that everyone else (save for Bull) has a head slot we can abuse use.

Yeah, but we haven't seen him with a hat yet, and it might be that he won't be able to wear a hat if it isn't part of his personal style.

Oh really? I find it amazing how different people's tastes are. I spent the entirety of Origins without helmets because they were ridiculous and/or I wanted to see faces. And in DA2 I was super happy I could toggle helmet invisibility and never ever see them
By the way, a couple days ago I was looking at a DA2 video and the guy complained that he couldn't see his Hawke's face - I was shocked he managed to play the game several times and do a complete video playthrough without learning about helmet invisibility ![]()

oh, i know! what i wouldn't have done to, oh, i don't know... turn around and tell Sebastian to CRAM IT. like, you can like the chantry all you want Sebastian. but so help me, STOP harassing my party members about their faith/lack of faith/life choices/ect. see, i was the exact opposite here! half my party was always helmet-less because i couldn't stand to look at them! i once spent an hour in Amaranthine with Anders, running him all over the city and trying all hats for sale on him to see if there was one i could POSSIBLY tolerate seeing... eventually i found one that was... alright. still not great. but alright...

Once you've played the game a bajillion times, having a gimmick makes it more fun. My personal favorite was my Accidental Dragon Cultist Cousland run, with her sidekicks Naked Barbarian Alistair and Chasind Anders:
Since they disappeared for the more important cutscenes, the hideousness didn't really bother me at all. However, it will probably take until my fourth Inquisitor to enact the silly headgear policy. I just want to know that it's an option!

So guys, at what time will EA's 2 hour panel start and end for you?
It's from 4am-6am for me...I have school on the 18th.
I think I'll beg my mom to let me sleep like normal and then set an alarm to wake up for that time, watch the livestream and die and report the news to my friends, and then go back to sleep. Not sure if she'll let me but Gamescom is so big and I don't think I can afford to not personally watch it.
Finally! The timezones are in my favor! 10 AM yesss, a reasonable time! My patience and hours of staying up late into the night to watch everything else have been rewarded!
As for what to do when the game comes out, I'm TOTALLY going to train my cat to wake me up by bapping me on the nose whenever I fall asleep accidentally. Also, definitely going to buy the game online too, because I hate going to shops where they sell games and guys stare at me like I'm some sort of alien (girls don't game much in my country). Thankfully they don't ask me much though because I end up glaring at them like a female Fenris while I can assure you on the inside I'm like: "Get out, get out, hurry up and give me the bloody game so I can get out of here, dang it" Oh, and I love the new addition to the thread name! ![]()

Well, after reading your reports I guess I'm lucky we don't have game shops here. If I want to buy a game in a physical shop, it can be an electronics/computer stuff one but mostly it's a big department store or bookstore chain. The kind of place you're mostly left to check things out by yourself.

Ugh, yeah. DA2 could get hard to take with any combination of Anders, Fenris, and Merrill in the party. I hope the DA:I party is more like DA:O's in that if they don't like each other they still manage to not be completely awful to one another. They do have a common goal, so hopefully they can act like grown ups some times. This is part of the reason I'm looking forward to Solas so much; he doesn't sound intolerably judgmental.
I want the option to tell off people who are mean to Cole either way. Alternately, the option to set them on fire.

DRAGONS! i love love love dragons. i don't kill them in skyrim unless i absolutely HAVE to (can't sneak by one guarding a word wall, one swooping down from the sky with the intent to EAT ME). i consider them all my siblings, aha. and i hate the blades so bad. i always remove the essential flag from delphine so i can kill her, lulz.
like I JUST HATE HER SO BAD. THE NERVE ON HER. like, who are YOU to tell ME what to do? KILL PAARTHY? HE IS MY FRIEND. MY BROTHER. she is the worst blade ever. whenever i play Oblivion i like to imagine the horror the likes of Jauffre and Baurus would feel at her complete middle finger to the ONLY DRAGONBORN. pfft. PFFT.
Do you play on PC? Because there's several great mods that let you yell at the Blades and with a high enough speech you can keep both their support and Paarthy alive. The one I use is Arthmoor's The Paarthurnax Dilemma. Completed the game with this mod installed with no problems.

That'll be 4-6am for me and it's so not happening. I'll just catch up on the forums with my morning coffee.
I'm embarrassed to say this...but I did miss Fenris the first time. I went through the whole game thinking "Some things are optional to do. I don't want to help this dwarf guy." So I skipped the mission. I finished the whole game and looked online before I realized what had happened. The party felt empty and I didn't know why. lol Dumb person is dumb.
Don't feel bad. I totally missed Leliana in my first ever playthrough of DAO. I bought the game used on a whim and hadn't discovered the forums yet, so I went in about as fresh and raw as a noobie can. I, uh, took the role-playing part just a liiiittle too seriously, so when I got to Lothering and they were saying bad things about the Grey Wardens, I thought it wise to lay low and, you know, not tell everyone I was a Grey Warden and/or cause trouble/make a scene anywhere. So, when that helpful villager outside Dane's Refuge warned me that Loghain's men were inside the pub, I never went in. Ever. Did everything else, recruited Sten, and left Lothering. Leliana perished when Lothering fell to the darkspawn and I had nooooooooooooo idea (she only comes and finds you on the road if you meet her and turn her down in the bar first... but if you never go in and meet her, she's gone forever).
I discovered the forums about midway through the game when I Googled after encountering some difficulties. Saw people talking about Leliana and her song scene at camp and I just scratched my head wondering who that was and how I'd missed such a scene.
Yeah, never again. I stick my nose eeeeeeeeeeeeverywhere now, so I didn't miss a soul in DA2. ![]()
In regards to waiting for the mail to deliver the game - oh, God, I could never do that. I had to endure the Amazon.com delivery wait for the last three Harry Potter books and it was torture. Because the freaking delivery didn't come until 4-freaking-PM every damn time. I should've just gone to a midnight release at a bookstore, but nooooooooo for some reason I thought they'd be delivered at, like, 9am or something.
Never again for that, too. ![]()
And I'm really, really sad to hear all these bad video game store experiences. And to be honest, I'm really starting to wonder if these sorts of things are actually happening to me, too, and I'm just being 100% oblivious about it. Because I've never had any trouble from any guys at the store, either those shopping or those working. Literally the only thing I've noticed is the occasional "happy surprised" look that a chick's shopping there for herself, but that sort of thing doesn't offend me at all.
Never been harassed in a store or, luckily, gaming online even while mic'd up and talking and clearly a woman. But I go online and see all these horror stories and get a little confused. I can only conclude at this point that I'm just not noticing if someone is being sexist towards me or I was born under the luckiest star of all stars and walk a charmed path. ![]()

Ooooh, what system did you get it on?
Because I... I kinda still play the MP on it... and I kinda have it on PS3... and XBox 360... and PC... because I got that addicted to the MP and I had so many different forum friends I wanted to play with scattered across platforms.
So, like, if you ever want to play it some time, I'D TOTALLY PLAY WITH YOU.
Gosh, I was glued to MP, I think 90% of my play time on ME3 was online. I'd be down for some MP, I'm on PC. ![]()
Oh god, the DAI delivery wait is going to be SO painful. I'm going to be in the same boat as you. And then I'll play for hours and hours.
My Mass Effect 3 experience was pretty much the opposite of yours, though! I pre-ordered the deluxe version and it got delayed a few days. In that time, I visited the forum and found out about the endings. I was so upset at the way it ended and all of the plot-lines that weren't addressed in a satisfactory way that when the game arrived, I didn't play it for months. It was released in early march, if I recall, and I didn't crack it open until July. July. I finally figured that I should just play it and finish it up. I didn't hate the game, and some quests were awesome, but to this day I have never finished it. I refused to play my Shepard through the endings and just watched them online
Ahhh, I should give it another shot some day. Maybe closer to Mass Effect 4s release date.
But DAI, that's going to be different. I won't spoil myself to that extent, for one, and it sounds like it'll be an awesome game!
I pre-ordered ME3 for Xbox via GAME. Remember the whole no EA games from them around the time of release? Yeah. So like a week after release I finished building my PC and just bought it for that instead. I was also spoiled for the endings. Unpleasant all around.

It's worse when you romance Merrill and Anders suggests that you dump her...with Merrill literally standing a couple of feet away.
Given that Solas is hot pepper candy perhaps there are some things that really set him off:
Solas: Cole, there comes a time in every practitioner's life when they have to realize that their power can be dangerous, and that it needs to be used responsibly.
Cole: But you just made Sera think she was naked in front of everyone in the tavern.

Yeah, I've witnessed that conversation (my first and 'canon' ladyHawke romanced Merrill).
Yeah, GDL called him passionate in his beliefs, so there's definitely fire there and I suspect there are some things he just won't take from anyone but he will, by and large, attempt to be reasonable. Unless reason has already run for cover.

It really sucks to just wanting to do something related to a hobby and having fun and then having to feel uncomfortable the whole time! I admire your talent for glaring, though. When I try to glare at people... it never seems to work. Completely ineffectual every time. I think it's because I'm small, hmph. Recently I've been working on developing a cold, unnerving stare, though. I like to try and draw inspiration from Revan, heh. She is my queen.

WHOAAA SAY WHATTT?? CHECK THINGS OUT BY YOURSELF? WHAT IS THIS MAGICAL DREAM.
The only time I've seen that is in like, grocery stores. And... not even for a while... Not since I moved areas a few years ago...

I tended to be more forgiving of Anders when it came to Merrill... okay, and in general. [shifty eyes] But I think he did at least care about her, you know? In uh... in his own special, Anders way. I mean, he definitely went about it ALL wrong, for sure. But listening to when he'd go after her... he seemed to be at least be genuinely worried about what would happen to her, unlike Fenris who was just... a jerk. To me, it always sounded like Anders was trying to scare her so she'd back off from what he saw as self-destructive behaviors. Doesn't make it okay, but I at least think his intentions were good. Unlike Fenris. ![]()
Of course that's just my opinion and I really don't want to get into an Anders-related argument. Just my observations. If you disagree that's cool. Please don't hurt me. ;-;
I would expect it to be better in Inquisition though. In 2 there was no overarching quest... Your ragtag band all came together because of the Deep Roads... but even then, only you, Varric, and the younger Hawke really cared, y'know? And after that it was just... friends screwing around, really. And just because one person is friends with a bunch of people doesn't mean they're all going to like each other. I did like how some of them started off hating each other and wound up respecting each other in the end, though. Like Aveline and Izzy. ![]()
Baring that, though... Setting on fire seems like a good backup plan! ![]()

I do! I used to play on my laptop, and it had enough trouble running the game on its own (it was a hard life of limited options, lol) so I never modded it any. I live with my boyfriend now, though, and inherited joint custody of his self-built PC... so all sorts of hair and armor and environmental mods were quickly installed, hah. I didn't think to look for one dealing with the Blades, though! I'll have to check that out at some point, thanks. ![]()

I know, I was kinda hoping I'd just been unlucky or that things had eased up since 2006-ish... and maybe they have, since you and a few others seem to be okay! So that's good to hear, at least. It's still really gross to hear about it happening at all though.
But I was thinking that too! If only we could all go together. We'd be one giant group of Archdemon-slaying, Blight-quelling Warden-Commanders. Creepy employees and/or customers wouldn't stand a chance, heh.

And trust me, I can't really talk about musical taste either...my iPod is a weird and scary place full of mismatched things and the occasional Britney jam...I've just hit critical mass on this particular band. I know so much about them...and I don't want to. I WANT THAT PART OF MY BRAIN BACK. Also, just looked up SHINEE and oohhh, fun!
Joining you in hoping for appropriate reactions to douchery. The only people I never really wanted to smack upside the head in DA2 were Varric and Isabela. My ideal ending would have been sailing away with the both of them (I love Fenris, but I will admit a lot of his appeal was Gideon Emery + hot anime elf arm candy, because every time he really got talking it was like "Maker no, his complaining music is starting again crap he's going to start in about his miserable, painful existence again ARGHHHHHHH"). I hope our new companions are more stable. Solas sounds like such a breath of fresh air.
I hate hearing you guys feeling so creeped out and harassed.
It makes me wish I was actually in the stores WITH you guys because if I EVER had that happen to me or saw that happening to another girl, I'd shut it down pretty darn quickly.
I was stuck living in a little town in the desert when Deathly Hallows came out. The wait for the delivery truck (which might as well have been headquartered in our neighborhood) that day was agony. We never get stationed anywhere with a bookstore. And I'm still irked that our GameStop, at which I've picked up any number of pre-orders on their release days, isn't doing it for this particular game. ![]()
I've been lucky too...the people who work at the GameStop here are really nice. The couple of women who work there are more helpful when I've been looking for recommendations, but there's been no weirdness, fortunately. I hate to hear about the harassment happening elsewhere, though! I've been through it other places, and it's gross. Enough to make you wish you had an actual magic garage door opener in your hand to whap people upside the head with/sic various Fade beasts on the jerks.
So...I've never played MP anything before (preferring, generally, to cocoon myself and block out humanity while I'm playing things), but if there ends up being a MP component to DA:I, I would love to give it a shot with any of you playing on PS4! I would feel way less weird about diving in that way. Just sayin', for future reference and all. ![]()

Of course that's just my opinion and I really don't want to get into an Anders-related argument. Just my observations. If you disagree that's cool. Please don't hurt me. ;-;
I would expect it to be better in Inquisition though.
Baring that, though... Setting on fire seems like a good backup plan!
Okay, way off topic again but yeah. Anders absolutely had better reasons because it wasn't just blind hatred. And I compared DA:I to DA:O for just that reason. DA2 didn't have a unifying goal. These people were just Hawke and Varric's friends who hung around because they liked Hawke and Varric. Without a purpose to drive them to put aside at least some of their differences, it's easy enough to understand that they wouldn't bother trying. Fenris and Anders in particular both had really extreme beliefs that didn't allow for budging (much, even rivaled) on their perspectives.
I just did a run through with what I call TEAM ALL THE LADIES and it was great. Aveline and Isabela worked out most of their differences in Act II and by Act III people were all being respectful of each other! My favored party with my warrior Hawke is Varric, Merrill, and Isabela - nothing but love all around.
I'd like the option of telling party members to calm down/back off if they go too far (I consider Fenris calling Merrill a monster going too far). The option to intervene and protect a companion who may already be suffering like Merrill was after her Act III quest. Provided anyone in DA:I is even cruel enough to go that far. Hopefully not but hey, interactive dialogue may provide the option to tell people to quit it and it would be nice if you could.

I actually don't mind that characters dislike each other and argue, makes them a bit more relatable. However I did hate not being able to offer input, so I'm glad that interactive banter is being introduced.
