I'm on my phone, so responding to each of the kind-worded replies isn't possible. My phone is glitchy as hell right now. But from center of my heart, thank you to each and every one of you for the likes and uber sweet words. It made my week waking up to that. It makes want to work my socks off to write more, in fact. On topic: What is everyone's favorite color on Solas? Mine is the silk brocade blue. I love how it deepens and accents his eyes. I really, really like it combined with (spoilered because it's from DLC)

one of the ice dragon materials you get from DLC. Blargh. I forgot which one was the pretty blue. I fail.

I won't lie, the blues on him make me swoon. Oooooh! I rhymed. Kind of. The green looks super swell as well, but my personal preference is blue. As a side note, Cole looks brilliant in Dales loden cloth and the silk brocade combination, Dorian looks amazing in ring velvet green (along with white, who would have thought), and I just adore Dales loden cloth on Cassandra. Cassandra is gorgeous in purple.

I've been touting the wonders of the silk brocade on him ever since we got the armor tinter.

 

I have been combining that with some of the new white cloth from the DLC. He looks so regal. I wrote a tiny fic about it. Ha.

 

I made him his promo armor the other day too, but sadly with no brocade, but I saved the other one, which may go on him because he just looks so good in it.

I was the same way. I wasn't drawn to anyone in particular prior to the game, and had impassively thought of Cullen as a fall-back if none of the other characters got my attention--not that there's anything wrong with Cullen; he's a handsome, sweet dude, but I've never played the mage path in Origins and only played DA2 once and seemed to forget much of it not long after, so was kinda "Cullen-who? Oh yeah, that guy" for a while.

 

And then Solas opened his mouth.  *_* Hello, Sir Not-What-I-Expected. Can I interest you in my pants today?

 

As far as rebounds for my Lavellan after the Solasmance go, at a certain point in time I imagine she might come onto Cullen if she were absolutely hammered and he happened to be there, but I feel like Cullen would know better than to act on anything with her, given their friendship, working relationship, and the situation surrounding Solas' departure, independent of whether he felt things for her or not. If anything did happen, I imagine my Tala would regret it immensely, as would Cullen. This is just my headcanon, though, and I could see it working for other Lavellans and totally understand the urge, however. 

 

My Tala would be far likelier to have a fling with a complete stranger. I've uh... totally conceived of this whole story in my head, and this guy. Well, it's he's pretty glorious. And it's porny and... I'd write it, but I feel like I'd be the only one interested in reading a story about my Lavellan having angry sex with a stranger, post-Solas. Though there would be glimpses of Solas. I might do it anyway. 

 

How do I stop this madness.

I'd say Chaotic Good, if I had to pick an alignment.  He can be blindingly self-centered sometimes, but he has noble intentions at heart.

 

As "god" of rebellion, I feel Solas is more Chaotic Neutral. He acts in favor of freedom regardless of the outcome.

For my Lavellan, she's going to sort of refocus on her work for a while, though friends like Dorian help her greatly. In a fic I'm brewing, she almost gets injured one time in the field due to a stupidly obvious thing she missed, and that's when most people realize she's been working a lot and not sleeping much or eating well and will demand she take a few days off to rest and take care of herself.

 

As for love, in my head I'm sort of working on fleshing out her previous experiences more than any post-Solas stuff. I've got an idea about her first love being her training partner, and the two of them eventually experience love together as teens and eventually just grow apart. I only have the vaguest details.

I agree, it's more or less sensual and not the super detailed mega smut but even some of the world's best writers don't even write sex well. That's why there's annual bad sex in fiction awards. Which are delightful as examples of what NOT to do.

 

Not to repeat myself, Kestrel, but you do a good job at conveying the contrasts that weigh upon Maiwe's mind as well as the relief and freedom the Fade allows for in these chapters. The images of steam were also really nicely done.

 

Anyhow, the contrasts, this part of her that is still tethered by insecurities but also welcomes the lightness present for her....this is something readers without chronic illness can figure out their own ways to latch onto and relate.
