A realistic rendering of Solas:

Everyone should be talking about this beautiful rendering of Solas instead of internet fighting. Looking at his moist yellow lips and his beautifully red eyes.

Colonel to the rescue then? Trust me, I'm not apologizing for yours.

For me to be butthurt, I'd have to actually have something to care about. That little kerfuffle is nothing compared to arguments I've had in the rest of BSN, and most people move on.

I'm not even going to bother trading quips with you, if you have a problem with me, or what happened, say it in PM, not here.

As I was recently reminded it is an open forum. I wasn't attacking any one. It is a personal opinion since we are sharing them. I agree, what happened in the Abelas thread wasn't nice but it is very one-sided because both sides were not taken into account. Saying Solas reminds me of a speckled egg is directed purely at Solas and an opinion.

Because he's bald! And people call him an egg! And he's got freckles! I got ya! At last, I can follow along!

People have said lots of negative things about Solas, at least on this thread, and if some discussions have wobbled on a tension line, the body count is fairly low. I try not to go out too much, though. I can only see so many threads from my cave entrance, and most of them are written in the blood of the fallen. Confusing the actions or opinions of individuals with those of the Legions will only lead to more well-poisoning. ~Mixed Metaphors Anonymous

That's an awesome resource! But have you've seen this awesome Solas picture? He has canine teeth because he's a wolf.

I have a problem with no one. I don't know any of you in person. I'm sure most on here are quite lovely people who just enjoy coming here and talking about their favorite character. I get that believe it or not.  I enjoy or rather enjoyed doing that too. It was part of my morning routine along with tea (yeah I know sacrilege) But that was ruined for me and no I'm not trying to ruin it for everyone else believe it or not. Perhaps, as you said Colonel people should be a little more self aware. If I can't speak my mind about my favorite character without it turning into a free for all, then I want people to understand that their opinions are also up for scrutiny.

I doubt that Abelas will return but I came here because it was fun to share with others. But it is also an open forum.

Well next time you want to make a point, whatever it was... (btw, dissing a character because someone else made a joke is hardly an opinion, it's just childish), maybe make said point to the people involved, at the very least.

I am not the Solas thread, nor am I a representation of everyone here.

Now... lets leave the dirty laundry out, please. And that's the last thing I'm saying to you on the subject.

As for Solas' being a planner, it depends on what you consider planning. People make plans for life all the time, but generally a "planner" is more punctual. They're planners because they make plans and do them, whereas Solas by his own word lays around thinking about things he needs to do, how he'll do them, etc, but spends too much time doing this, and not enough time taking action.

One could say someone like that's a planner, but for me that's not quite the same. But, I wouldn't say somebody was "wrong" for calling him a planner either. Just depends on your definition.

aQpOEzM.gif

By planner, I mean he considers all the pieces on the table, the end goal, and he decides the moves he is going to make in order to achieve it. Planning doesn't have to mean action hero, always acting. It may also mean acting less, because you spend more up-front time planning out your moves in order to make every action count. It depends. Also, I responded mainly to laugh at the "by his own word" thing, because of the iffiness of taking that literally ;) He's both being himself and playing a role.

He's joined his fair share of causes, though, and doesn't seem especially spontaneous except when forced to be.It's also not really important how well the plan works - you can be a really shitty planner, and still be the sort that tries. That may be where some of us diverge, too. I don't think he's necessarily unable to wing it, he just seems to think being thoughtless about the future is... well, thoughtless, and ill-considered.

(Edit to say more specifically, people often don't make plans for life. They make wishes for life. They make New Year's Resolutions that are vague and unachievable. Lack of planning is actually what so many people have trouble with. They said, "I'm going to lose weight," instead of, "I will replace one bowl of ice cream with steamed veggies, 3 days a week." They say, "I will quit smoking," instead of, "I will smoke one less cigarette a day." "I will do better in school." "I will replace x show with studying." "I will find a job." "I will LOOK." etc.)

It was no more childish than what was done to me. I believe it is you who has a problem with me. I messaged you and you did not respond. Every time I post you remark on what I have said.

You act like you are the solas thread spokesman and seem proud that you have these outrageous arguments all over BSN. That mentality was clearly shown in what you did on the Abelas thread. You came in and commented as if you were the Solas police. The opinion I expressed never warranted the upheaval it caused. But it was pushed to the limit because you and others wanted to be right.

Ummm, personally I prefer the endings of 1984 or Animal Farm or Crime and Punishment... but hey...

David's into Ayn Rand?

Figures. I could have guessed it.

But yeah, I'm with you on Orwell. Much more poignant without needing to be happy.

Huh?

Of course, you've read the fountainhead, but you haven't read anything by Orwell.

He would have had a lot of things to say about Ayn Rand. There's a reason she said she was glad that he was dead when she wrote her stuff. She knew he would've torn her works apart.

A realistic rendering of Solas:

Spoiler

https://www.pinteres...39619957083533/

There we go. Another victim of tea abuse. You even see the theine coloring around nose (from smelling) and lips (from sipping). 'Tis a sad, sad world.

By planner, I mean he considers all the pieces on the table, the end goal, and he decides the moves he is going to make in order to achieve it. Planning doesn't have to mean action hero, always acting. It may also mean acting less, because you spend more up-front time planning out your moves in order to make every action count.

...

"I will LOOK." etc.)

You know, I come to like having you around here a lot. Maybe because you usually understand what I want to say. Or maybe just because you have such a way with words. It's a mystery, really.

It was no more childish than what was done to me. I believe it is you who has a problem with me. I messaged you and you did not respond. Every time I post you remark on what I have said.

I will not disagree here. (I have no idea who has or does not have an issue with you though.) But you are upset because of something done to you, so you replied the way you did. But I asked you not to let your frustration out toward Illyria, who had nothing to do at all with what happened between you and other people in the Abelas thread, okay? That's my issue. She was innocent, so this was not fair.

I wish we had just a tiny bit more with Corypheus. And I wish he wasn't immediately shown as his 'darkspawn' form. I do think there's a really amazing story going on in Inquisition, it just doesn't quite get the screentime it deserves. So far everything has been centered around faith, or a lack thereof.

I'm a few pages behind, but I wanted to chime in here. I think Corypheus is simply a plot device. To me, the true story of Inquisition is the mage vs templar war and the question of mage freedom vs the safety of the people. It's about questioning beliefs and history getting things wrong. It's about the plight of the elven people. It's about gods and saints and how things can get twisted into legend and religons and gods are created. And of course, it's about how power corrupts. And yes, it's about faith - crisis of faith, lack of faith, over abundance of faith, blind faith.

I think it's a wonderfully deep, broad story that Corypheus is only a small part of. That's why it feels like his story didn't get the screen time it deserved. He's the thread that ties the past to the present. He's the big baddie foil for us to compare Fen'Harel to when we finish the story and find ourselves trying to comprehend everything that just happened. He's the token darkspawn in a Dragon Age story that was only about the blight because, in a world where it exists, sooner or later everything becomes about the Blight. How do we stop it, how did it really begin, what happens when all the archdemons are dead, old gods, old god babies, etc.

Bioware has given us something to sink our teeth into. :)
