I will not disagree here. (I have no idea who has or does not have an issue with you though.) But you are upset because of something done to you, so you replied the way you did. I knew he had pink toe nails, but I think the gilded finger nails talk about his character development at this point in the game. So long as he touches you, touches your companions with his words, his world and the world of his hands are gilded and guided by perfection. And yet, once he leaves the safety and guiding light that is the Inquisition, the world's of his hands rot, become imperfect, fallible. Beautiful metaphor.

 

I think there's also a bit of My Little Pony in there.

 

Besides, I agree with you. Also I think the hearts in his eyes have a deep metaphorical meaning. "The eyes are the mirror of the soul". So when we see these hearts in his eyes, this is obviously a reference to looking right into his intrinsic motivations, which are pulsing and at the very core of his being. More even, we see there are two hearts, one in every eye. That obviously refers to "the left hand does not know what the right hand does", so they are an expression of his duality and his inner conflict. Possibly even hinting at a schizophrenic tendency, which might explain him first pursuing the relationship with Lavellan ("thought about how to show you what you mean to me") and then breaking it off with his (figuratively speaking) "next breath". We also observe how these hearts are pink, not red (as usually depicted), which either expresses that this conflict is not yet fully developed, that he is not yet aware of it himself, or that he tries to ignore it intentionally (failing though, as it still shines through vaguely).

Listen, cool down. I completely ignored you here. I spoke up because of varric speaking to Illyria. And because I don't like when somebody (in this case varric) is unfair toward somebody else (in this case Illyria). I don't even understand why you feel addressed at all, it had nothing to do with you, sorry.

There's really no need for this argument to continue. As you say, it's done. It's been done before you started it back up again. Drop it. The drama does not belong here on the thread.

Indeed, the pink heart choice is a fascinating one. Why not the fiery, passionate, committed depths of red? Was the artist trying to impart some foresight to the viewer that his vision of you is rosy, but not accurate, coloring his vision? Was it done to hint that while he loved you, his vhenan, that his priorities as a foreign immortal took first place? The bulk of his passion?

I am very interested in your two eyes, two hearts, two loves, two personalities/ duality interpretation. I had never considered such a multifaceted approach to this work. The implications of that point of view are a great insight into his interpersonal struggle during this scene. Does he abandon his love for what was, or continue with his love for what is?

Truly, a very intriguing piece of art.

 

This is a brilliant point. Very likely the artist let his own perception of the overall situation influence his work. Now that I think about this, maybe the hearts are in fact even reflections? Assuming that Solas looks into Lavellan's eyes, the angle would allow for his eyes not functioning as mirrors of his own soul, but rather mirroring what is projected in Lavellan's eyes (i.e., mirrors of her soul). This would further underline the basic notion of the rose color to imply a tinted, distorted view on reality. Also the color, as implied by the name "rose", can be attributed to the flower "rose", which is well known for its thorns that can inflict pain in somebody touching it. This represents Lavellan who, touching the rose (i.e., Solas), will be left with pain even after he is long gone.

 

As to what he intends to do next, maybe the teeth can help us understand.

I don't quite understand what this means but it is clearly getting personal. So in your eyes I would not have the right to express "The public discussion in the public Abelas thread on the public BSN was childish"? I did not know that.
