I'm a child of the Disney Renaissance. Which means I've seen Aladdin...a lot. And I have this Inquisitor with a terrible case of responsibilitis. Always living for others and never for herself. So if we could have a sort of Dragon Age version of "A Whole New World" with Solas showing her all these wonderful things she's only ever dreamed of, well it would mean a lot for her arc.

I'm not the kind of person that worries about spoilers. I'm more the kind of person that wikis the ending of a movie right after I start watching it, or that reads the last three pages of a book first. XD 

 

I do this. And...I knew what was under the spoiler tag 'cause I had immediately looked at that list when it came out.   I HAVE NO WILLPOWER. 

 

I'm torn on how much I want to know going into the game. I don't want to know everything but...I like knowing stuff. The one good thing is, once the game comes out I'll be so busy playing it that I won't be digging for info online unless I wind up horribly stuck somewhere. There'll definitely be things I get to discover for myself.

As for the romance situation, I had the concept I want to romance Solas with in mind before I realized Solas was a perfect match for him. He'll be a Dalish that thinks his people focus too much on bitterness and taking legends for granted and don't do enough to actually try to learn about their history and what went wrong. He's very much about history and finding the truth, rather than just about proving specific theories correct. He's a huge skeptic in basically all things that require a lot of faith and definitely a "shades of grey" type. Pretty much as soon as I read Solas's profile, I knew they would be perfect together.   

 

So, I will cry if he isn't available for m/m relationships, too. I'm leaning towards thinking Solas will be the "available to all" male, like Josephine is to women, though. Iron Bull is now, also, but he wasn't originally.

Yeah, I've walked into a gamestop at literally the same moment as a man and his young son (and there were other shoppers already there) and rather than seeing if he needed help or if we both did, the cashier almost ran over to me like a lost puppy and was peppering me with questions and wouldn't leave me alone. Did I need help did I know what I was looking for, etc...even when I said I didn't need help and was just browsing. Then when I picked something and went to the register it was more questions and disbelief. I must have said something that indicated I knew about the game because the guy was like "wait...this is for YOU?!" after which I got the standard "you know you need an xbox 360 to play this right?" "You know you have to pay on online fee right?" etc...all the thing it says on the game cover...If I go in with a male escort (my brother or cousin) they leave me completely alone. I even got the "this is for you?!" at the midnight release of ME3. Let's see, my name (clearly a woman's name) is on the receipt, I'm here ALONE at midnight to get this game...no it must be for my deadbeat husband at home...

 

ugh, how gross. what is it with these guys? like, if i SAID I don't need you... guess what? i don't need you! and if i SAID i know what i'm doing... guess what? I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING (if only i had a dollar for every time i've shouted that phrase at someone, especially a male. i'd be set for life). but oh, that wouldn't make them feel special enough, would it.

Unfortunately there are limited ways to deal with something that is becoming very stressful like that; I was hoping the explanation would make me feel more at ease but it hasn't.  I'm having chest pains and feel like I'm going to cry over a silly joke that was taken a bit out of context.  Things like this will probably happen less often once I've actually gotten comfortable talking to people here but it takes time.

I'm trying not to get too excited about the VA in that video mentioning trans characters in DAI. David had hinted at it (something like "I hope you like what we've done in DAI" in response to a fan question about trans representation in the DA games), but having a second person involved in the game mention it too makes it seem more likely/real. *vibrates quietly*

 

My ears perked up at that too! I really hope she was referring to in-game and not Mae... Not to sound unappreciative of her, of course, but... more pls! 

But ohh, if Gaider hinted at it in regards to Inquisition? OhohohohOH that's exciting! [flails feet like a five year old]

Omg SAME. It's good to know I'm not alone. I'm so impatient; I do that with everything! Hahah, when the "list of leaked achievements" popped up I was downloading it within a second and reading it five seconds later... I did not even entertain the idea of not looking. I REGRET NOTHING.

That is freaking adorable! I love the idea! And I know what you mean about being a child of the Disney renaissance. First thing I thought when I heard Iron Bull was romanceable by everything was, "I am so gonna recreate Beauty and the Beast with him and an elf".

 

And I sorta had a similar idea. One of the inquisitors I want to romance Solas with is a lady dwarf warrior who is intensely uncomfortable around all of this magic stuff. I imagined her and Solas getting stuck in the Fade and her being really on-edge which, of course, draws out the nastier spirits. Solas, realizing this, goes up to her and is all:

Once she relaxes he's able to take her on a tour of the Fade and show her all of the beautiful things he's found on his journeys.

Is particularly relevant. After all, Solas has apparently lived on his own for most of his life. I don't think he's lonely, per se -he had his passion for the Fade to occupy him- but I also think that learning to live with other people, and enjoy their company, could potentially be a part of his romance/friendship arc.

 

Or hell, I could be completely and utterly wrong, but it's fun to speculate. 

 

I've got a second Inquisitor lined up for him; a female kossith mage. She was inspired by the part of PW's interview where he said "Honestly, Solas hates people who look at him and just see an elf." As both a qunari and a mage, she knows that most people look at her and see a monster, and that takes a toll. What she really wants is someone who can look past all that, and who doesn't care what's on the outside. So...now that I think about it it's sort of a reverse BatB story.

I'm just worried about keeping Solas' approval up. Lenore is pro-templar. Actually she's mostly pro-whatever keeps the peace because revolutions tend to lead to destroyed farms and dead children.
