Slightly irritated by the fact I'm not a special snowflake anymore, but at the same time happy someone thought Delphine would be a pretty enough name for their character!

tbh, I really love that basically the entire fandom has just unanimously assumed that Concept!Solas is Arlathan!Solas. Like, that is him as a young man. It just is. We have decided.

Sorry to drag this up again but I feel like I need to set the record straight (When it comes to internet drama the only thing I hate more than it is causing it, no matter how minor).

 

I wasn't saying this is what I thought Abelas looked like.  I was jokingly saying it's what I thought the back of his head looked like (because I think the contrast of a pretty face and a wrinkled prune round back is hilarious).  I thought it was clearer from the context, but obviously it wasn't.  Sorry for the minor bit of chaos caused and if I accidently offended anyone.

Even more savory to me! I never get tired of seeing people saying "Omelette du Fromage" proudly as if it was not a huge mistake. Which it actually is.

(I can relate, I had the same kind of feels when the game started talking about that Grand Duchesse Florianne. My name's Floriane, and it's already pretty rare in French, but really unheard of in English-speaking games/books/series/anything )

Yeaaaah, that one must be quite irritating but funny at the same time. I feel like they used quite old/rare French names, between Gaspard, Vivienne, Floriane and all... These are not really common these days. It's refreshing to see them being used here, a bit.

 

Delphine is quite rare too, even in France (never met one during all my schooling years), but lately, it's becoming quite the popular name in North American TV shows, between Orphan Black, American Horror Story and now Empire, while it was practically nowhere to be seen before, even on French TV. This amuses me a lot!

People sure like to spend a lot of time hating on stuff. Whoah, amazingly, pretty sure we could solve any energy-related problem on Earth only if we could harvest all the energy borne out of people unnecessarily hating on things.

I don't understand people that make or post in hate threads. For example..I hate Twilight. I'm not going to try to convince people who like it that it's complete crap. If you like it..that's fine..I'm sure there are things I like that you hate. I'm also not going to make a thread in a forum about Twilight talking about how much I hate it. That just seems pointless and asking for people to get pissed off at you. There is already so much hate in the world, why add to it with stupid crap like hating a book or TV show or video game characters.  It seems so unhealthy to be filled with so much hatred. Pretty much like Delphine said, why not put all that hateful energy to good use.

You got some strong opinions there:

 

Jacob - that was a level of bad that is hilariously baffling to me.  I'll give you that.

 

Thane - ???? I romanced him.  I preferred his romance to Garrus' because it was a little less bro-y.  I loved the Garrus-mance, but he and my Shep. were bffs and that's what felt right.  Back to Thane, he was going to die. Period. To relegate his story to hand-wavey codex "im getting a lung transplant in the middle of a galactic war" would be a bit sad and silly.  I thought his death was incredibly moving.   I'm glad he got to go out the way he did. It was worthy of him, instead of dying in a hospital bed.  

 

 As much as I want a happy ending with Solas, a bittersweet death for him is not entirely out of the realm of possibility. It's actually very and highly likely...unlike some of the other companions.  What he does deserve is a story that does him justice.  And I do think Thanes - albeit a bit thin - did achieve that.   Killing a character doesn't necessarily mean the writers hate them or they are "ruining" the arc. Most of the time it's natural story progression.

I am dedicated to being caught up but I'm still 40 pages back.  (Hey, it's down from 200!)  I had to comment on this, though.  I fully expected Thane to die and had resigned myself to it.  Heck, I wrote a whole fic about it just to prepare myself.

 

It was the inane conversation they had before he died ("You sick?  Wanna bang?) and the fact that there was precisely no difference between the romanced Thane and "any ol' Shep" Thane deathbed scenes that pissed me off.  Also, that they made the Cereal Killer kill him, which is just stupid, but that was more about how much I hated Kai Leng than the scene itself.  Apparently, they made him an LI and then they forgot about him for the third game.  Meanwhile, I'm beating Kaidan back with a stick.  I hate what they did to Kaidan in the third game.  Must have been all the steroids.

 

Erm, on-topic I do have a song for the Fade Kiss Scene, essentially the one that pops into my head every time I see "The GIF".  I'm pretty sure I've posted it here before but at least it's Solas-related.  Sort of.
