Same here. :D For mine it's...

Shanoa Surana

Tatiana Amell

Belladonna Hawke (canon Hawke)

Reina Hawke (one of my alts)

Tala Lavellan

The only ones whose names didn't end with an "A" is my canon Warden (Arnwen Mahariel) and my Shepard (Denisse Shepard) who uses my IRL name. :P

I've used my real name for a character most notably once. And it was both weird and also comfortable. Not something I think I'll do again unless it's some old JRPG which are good at using names like that.

All of my first playthroughs were with characters whose names started with A.

Amelie Cousland, Amata Hawke, Aoife Lavellan

My canon characters are Sorcha Tabris, Rowan Hawke, and Danan Lavellan though so… I seem to have tossed that trend to the winds in recent times.

It's headcannon for me that Hawke's parents decided to name their children going through the letters of the alphabet in order, which means:

(1) Hawke's name must always start with an A.

(2) Bethany's the oldest twin.

I always feel a bit bad putting him in the Warden armor considering his whole beef with them, but he's just so gorgeous in it.  Though so is Dorian.  And Dorian doesn't throw around b*tchy little sighs at my decisions left and right

A lot of lady names end in an A. Mine does.  ^_^

My habit is I tend to start my character names with A. My Cousland is a good example of both though. Her name is Amaya.

I think it's confirmed that Carver is the older twin.

I have a weird thing with names too. But instead of ending with A, almost all of my characters only have names with four letters or under. I guess I am always hyper conscious of pronunciations, so I go with easier names.

Could it possibly be because the final a denotes the feminine in most Romance languages???

Therefore not a coincidence...

I agree completely about the art. They are beautiful. I would cry.

I just know my Lavellan is crazy, and probably thinks she is as capable as Solas is. She'd paint that last panel, so it would be 90% beautiful artwork, and then one panel where it looks like a five year old did it. Centuries later, people will attribute the paintings to the herald of andraste, and say some 'unknown elven servant' painted the last one.

Just as the maker intended.

You're a good artist Mims, so I would imbue your Lavellan with your talent. I think mine would end up looking like Moondrummer did it - hidden Oghren included.  Or I would just commission Moondrummer and my Lavellan would cry at its beauty over the completed dragon foot with sword(I mean, WTF is the last panel).

I'm not sure if there's really a pattern to my name choices. Basically, I roll with what I like and what fits the character's personality best to me. But I'm also exceedingly picky. My Wardens consist of Korinna Cousland (my current canon, although that may change. I'm torn between making my Alistair romance or a Morrigan romance canon. Hard life choices are hard), Daerwyn Mahariel, Castor Tabris, Drenim Surana, Thorian Aeducan, and one other possible undetermined Warden. I have only three Hawkes - Marian "Mary" Hawke (my canon), Theresa "Resa" Hawke, and Garrett Hawke. My Inquisitors are Elira Lavellan (canon, romancing Solas, making this on topic), Darcryn Lavellan, Clysette Lavellan, Elodie Trevelyan, a planned but unnamed Adaar and Cadash, and Gilgamesh Trevelyan.

Er... I may have a lot of characters. I refuse to apologize for it, however. I love them too much.

Of course, that's sort of what I was getting at. My family is full of Spanish and Italian names that end in As, including mine. :)

Naming, to me, is often a careful process that involves my concept for a character as well as background and name meanings. I can sometimes really take a while to come up with something.

My canon Lavellan was kind of not done like that though. I borrowed and added to a name I used for another game. But I think it fits her better than the original incarnation.

Sometimes it takes me longer to pick a name than it does to create my character. I have a huge spreadsheet of names with columns for meaning, region of origin, alternate spellings, and so on and so forth. And I'm never happy until I get one that's just right.

The spreadsheet isn't really for games (just for regular writing), but it does come in handy when I need to name RPG characters too.

I have something like this too, but I begun with concept and then have all the rest. There are names I'd like to use, still.

But it also explains why I spent much of the past two days trying to figure out an appropriate name just for  my Lavellan's first love from many years ago for a little Solavellan fic I've been working on. I got one, but that is the story I'm scrapping most of and reworking (and it's a 'setback' that's really a breakthrough).

Though I have decided if I do make a Trevelyan she will be a mage named Claire. No real reason why, just a feeling and it seems appropriate.

Now I am hellspiraling with ancient sad love songs.

Surprisingly, none of my character names end with the feminine 'a'. Maybe it's because my own name doesn't, so I've never been particularly drawn to them?

I have a lot of animal based names. And by a lot I mean a vast majority of them are. If it's not a direct name, then it's a variant of the Latin/scientific name, or a variant of the animal's name in whatever place they're native to.

I ended up with:

Liara Tabris
Abigail Hawke
Inan Lavellan

"Liara" follows my usual "end in a" troupe, "Abigail" was the best A name I could think of, and "Inan" was something I specifically looked through the elven language and decided on. So... yeah, the last two were after careful consideration. The first one, I just kind of went with.

I think that's pretty cool. I've done something similar at times where a character is animal-like, like a Khajiit or has some strong natural connection to wildlife or animal customs or traditions.

Even though my name ends in an A, I've always been more of a starts with A type. Most of the women in my family had/have names that end in A except my grandmothers and one aunt (Luz, Elizabeth, Fran) so they don't really have a huge appeaI. I almost always delve into lore and languages and all sorts of resources before naming. Sometimes I use object names in Spanish.

I was bored and named a character Camellia Sinensis once (Solas certainly disapproves!). I love wordplay but only if it's not a serious character.

I also seem to like L a lot.
