Dreams feel real enough, don't they? The situations you encounter within them may often be absurd but the emotions they evoke are genuine...

 

Speaking personally I've been saddened, disgusted, pleasured and fearful in dreams... Isn't this a common experience?

Yeah.  I actually had one last night that was pretty emotionally intense...ahhh love in dreams.  It was pretty ridiculous. 

 

@Sable - I actually wondered that too...fade sex.  It never appealed because I thought it would be important - for him/lavellan - to be very much in the real world when doing it since he's spent too much of his life in dreams. i loved the idea that they would go exploring and i think that's what solas would want --- to show lavellan all these interesting things. i mean...i guess they could makeout or bang in a vision.  but yeah, you have the demon problem.  im actually surprised that noone has done a desire demon/solas/lavellan fic yet.

Also, I can't stand Alistair's douchebag hairstyle in Origins, he makes me think of a pretentious Californian surfer or something :/

I also feel like Fade sex might attract demons by virtue of sensory overload.  You know how intense dreams can bleed into nightmare or go awry super fast?  IMO Fade sex might run that risk, and attract demons beyond the obvious ones like Desire.  

 

You could always prompt kinkmeme for desire/Solas/Lavellan.  I think I've seen a fic or two where Solas rescues Lavellan from a desire demon doppleganger of himself, but none where they bang.

I did. I mean, I didn't post it anywhere. I just had to get it on the page like with everything fanfictiony I write. But I might get around to cleaning it up and posting it one day.

 

They don't bang or anything. And she like… kills him (well, the demon version of him). So it's actually sort of depressing. But still.

Dreams can certainly feel very real and intense. I had recurring nightmares as a kid.

 

I've woken up in tears twice. Once when I was about 16 and had a dream that my ex (who had been my first love) had been run over and died. I could not shake that feeling for a while.  Meanwhile, he wasn't speaking to me at the time and we still had school together. 

 

Sometimes dreams are very intense and some of mine have been due to Dragon Age. I had frequent dreams inspired by Origins at one point.

But it was more of a hypothetical since the Fade dream stuff is more comparable to stuff like lucid dreaming where people claim to be in control and make things happen.

 

Just sort of interesting to me overall.

Ok, not gunna lie - actually checked to see if cullen then had elf ears and didn't and then i was like 'this picture is confusing and makes me have anxiety'.  glad i was not alone.

 

EDIT: @everybody about the desire demon fic - i'm gunna prompt the kink meme. good suggestion.

My own related confession. When DAI characters were revealed, and especially which ones were LIs, I called him 'low rent Alistair' for a while. Kind of a mean nickname but it was like I felt they were going for the Alistair role.

Solas tells Bull that getting it on in the Fade tends to attract demons, so I wonder if he and Lavellan actually have sex in dreams.  Though it might be different if you're doing it with another person than with a spirit?  Hot-and-heavy kissing is apparently fine since neither of them get eaten by demons after Solas literally dipkisses Lavellan and puts his thigh between her legs 

 

Based on things like that, the demons part, I don't think so but people's headcanon exists for lots of things that might not actually work within canon parameters.

I don't think many people realised that Alistair was in the Enemy of Thedas trailer.  Some of the desgins in DAI were a little off (although I'm sure they improved Alistair's compared to how he looked in the trailer.)

I loved Alistair's hair in Origins. He's so adorable and funny and sweet.

 

It's like Alistair and Cullen went in reverse on the hot scale, though DAI Alistair kind of grew on me a little.

 

Yet over time I realized that, in real life, and in game characters that I don't have a 'type', I just fall for 'people'.

If anything, Alistair's arc has more pitfalls than Cullen's.  Alistair can dump you to be king, run off and die, wind up a drunk...YOU can run off and die.  Alistair probably generated way more angst

Alistair is a doof.  I love the guy.  I think he was supposed to be more like Cullen when DA:O was in early development, but obviously..well you saw what we got.  I think we're going to get that kind of guy in every game.   More people respond to that romance -- it's more marketable and the characters are more palatable *pat pat grumpy Solas*.  As loved and as talked about as Solas' romance is - it's not the most popular.  Cullen's is.   Alistair's remains very popular. So be prepared for more like them in upcoming iterations of the series.  Again, that's not to say they aren't worth having around.  I think BW is doing a better job diversifying what kind of LI you get. I mean in this game, almost all of them were 40 and over. I mean they don't look it, but hey..THAT'S GREAT!
