I dunno.  There are plenty of characters whom I love in video games, and would never want to meet IRL.  Morrigan, for example.  I love her, but I'm pretty sure she can kill me with her pinky, and she would probably drive me ballistic if I actually had to deal with her attitude.  The same goes for...well, the majority of the DA2 cast.  They are great fictional characters, but certifiably nuts.

Yeah....as much as I liked Solas in-game, I think I would be incredibly frustrated and annoyed by him in real life.  We would likely be...ok friends.  Like he'd be that guy my lit seminar that is just obnoxious but not mean.  You're cordial with him outside of class and you may chat a bit at parties but then he starts going all contrarian on you wants to argue the merits of some genre show series finale and you're like 'ugh..later dude'.  Dorian though, dorian would be awesome. He's so sincere in his friendship and seems like he would be just a blast.  Bonus he's actually super intelligent and funny.  We'd get on pretty well. 

 

I think Isabela and I would get on well. Mostly because I have a friend that is almost exactly like her...right down to the sex-life. So it would mostly me listening in fascination and horror as she recounts her night out.

I'm just imagining putting all of the DA cast from all three games in a bar and seeing what occurs. I see shenanigans and destruction, and maybe some laughs.

I wonder how Solas and Anders would get along, though the number of variables in Anders's personality makes that a difficult question.  Right at the beginning of DA2 he's pretty much himself, though.  Do you suppose they'd have long, deep conversations about what's going on with Justice or would he be all flip and ****** Solas off because he won't take things seriously enough?

One is never merely content with Dorian.  One is delighted, ecstatic, and otherwise fabulous in all things 

 

I love Solas as a character, but if I had to pick one person from Dragon Age to actually meet and befriend, it would be Dorian hands-down.  Best Mage.  And best friend.

 

 

Part of the reason I loved Solas so much is how much we agree on many things (though not everything, so it could work), so aside from the whole "I'm out, Lavellan" act he pulls in act three, with the added bonus leaving at the end, I feel like Solas would be the one I personally would gravitate toward. But Dorian would be a delightful friend. He's such a great character.

I think it'd be Solas Greatly Disapproves all the way with every iteration of Anders. xD

Anders willingly gave up his self-control to harbor a spirit, thus (and due to Justice being alienated from his original purpose) letting himself be enslaved by (the will of) a demon. I can't see Solas agree. As far as I remember, Solas wishes the wolf pack in the Hinterlands to be free of demon control and gets angry if the inquisitor drinks from the well due to subsequently being bond to Mythal. Andes having done all that out of ignorance and naivety aren't mitigating circumstances for him. Actually, I think Anders is not too different from the mages who summoned Wisdom -- he allowed a spirit to be corrupted out of sheer rashness, and he bond himself to his will.

Ok, I'm thinking ... I have 4 playthroughs I completed and kept the character, 2 playthroughs I have sitting before the temple of Mythal (for any DLC that can be played pre-end game), 2 playthroughs I completed and deleted the character and 3 playthroughs I never completed and just deleted.

 

I'm not really sure I'd be impressed.  I have a lot of time on my hands and gaming is my hobby.  And I'd been waiting for a single player RPG that I enjoyed for awhile.  So I played the hell out of DAI when it came out.

 

I also have a lot of time on my hands at the moment, and think of gaming as a pretty big hobby of mine (and like you have been waiting for Inquisition for ages). Despite wanting to, I find I can't seem to progress much farther on any of my other playthroughs, having somewhat ran out of steam.

 

So, your indomitable focus remains impressive to me, lethallan.

This scene is fully visible without flycam as well. It took me until my second time through the game to notice, but I chalk that up to being starry-eyed over a new installment of Dragon Age. In any case, it's a great detail. Though we often see his compassionate side hinted at through approvals, I find it nice to see Solas demonstrate it.
