I have a question that's been bothering me for a while. How did Solas bring the Inquisitor into the Fade without her realizing it? Did he offer her some laced tea (Lavellan might like tea) that made her fall asleep? And how did she end up in her bed? Could they have went to her quarters, sat on her bed, and drank sleeping pill filled liquid?

If I remember correctly, when you're not in a romance with Solas and you talk to him after the Fade!Haven scene, it's implied that your Inquisitor was already asleep and dreaming when your Inquisitor approached him.

Edit: I don't think a Lavellan in a romance with Solas gets that info, sadly.

It's basically fundamental physics, really easy. Wikipedia quotes Matt Visser's Lorentzian Wormholes and I absolutely think it can't be expressed any simpler:

"If a Minkowski spacetime contains a compact region Ω, and if the topology of Ω is of the form Ω ~ R x Σ, where Σ is a three-manifold of the nontrivial topology, whose boundary has topology of the form ∂Σ ~ S2, and if, furthermore, the hypersurfaces Σ are all spacelike, then the region Ω contains a quasipermanent intra-universe wormhole."

You see, there's really not much to it. I think now it's pretty trivial to relate it to the situation in Haven. I can't understand how people never think of this in the first place.

Question - I'm working on a Hawke(F)/Fenris fic that will eventually get to my Lavellan and her dealing with Solas' departure and coming into her own with the mark and all this Fade stuff (that's the plan anyway). It's not strictly Solavellan, but would be people be interested in reading when it gets to that point? Just wondering so I know whether or not to bother you with links.

Yes.

She's already asleep and finds him when he's dreaming too.  It's why he's so surprised to have her asking him about himself.  This is only said if you're not in a romance.

Ah. I did not realize this.

Now that I think about it, if you don't kiss Solas the first time in the fade at Haven, can you still initiate the romance during the balcony scene? Has anyone tried? I only ask because I find some of his non-romance dialogue during the fade scene more interesting, but I don't want to block off the romance entirely.

I've tried to find a youtube video of a non romance conversation and have failed...

Sorry no video, but if you take the non-kiss stoic option in the Fade, he talks about you shattering rules and all that, and comments, "To visit me here...and you not even a mage..." (Edit, also in the "that mattered to you?" option when talking about how rockstar you are for walking in the Fade physically, he says "you might have visited me here while awake" (implied instead of sleeping) or something that's a little more ambiguous, but still.)

Back at Skyhold, with the "I didn't know we'd be doing it in the fade" option, he says something like, "Since you took the trouble to seek me out in your sleep, it was worth the trouble to go someplace more interesting. I had no idea the Anchor would allow you to dream with such focus. It is truly remarkable."

That's awesome. Which is precisely why like I'd like to pursue those non-romance dialogue options but still have the kiss on the balcony... I'll have to try it next playthrough and see if it's possible...

I am not sure, but I think you must kiss him in the Fade in order to not end the romance before it even began.

On my first playthrough I did not kiss him there and I never got another heart option. However, I flirted with anybody and so it's fairly possible that I had been ninjamanced by Blackwall or something. I don't remember if I talked to Solas or him first after coming to Skyhold.

He can also make a Dwarf inquisitor dream. Solas does what he wants.

I support the idea of Solas being with others, pre release. Meaning I would have liked that (for human pairings anyway) if it was established. But it wasn't and the devs made Solas exclusive to elven women, so I don't much like these other pairings either.

I especially don't get Adaar X Solas... ??? Lolol, that's... rofl.

I do like the Adaar/Solas romance idea, just because it's cute

But in reality... Solas is very "elfy," for lack of a better term, and I'm not sure he'd actually be willing to open himself up to the other races.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm for Solavellan all the way. It's just that some of the Solas x Adaar artworks I've been finding, I think they're kind of cute. :D

However, if we're talking about Solas/Inky pairings that we're not that crazy about, I'm... not really crazy about Solas x Trevelyan. Sorry, I know there are people on this thread who do ship them (Ary, I'm sorry), but I just... don't. *__*;

EDIT: Basically, it's the possibility of stuff like this that makes me find Solas and Adaar kind of cute. xD

He's all about rebuilding that elven empire. And you can't get a kickstart on that without babe'n elf ladies. Elven glory and all that jazz.

To be honest, I find Solas/Adaar more acceptable than Solas/Trev (sorry Ary)

I wasn't judging anyones' pairing likes, I just needed to get that off my chest.  I think some it comes from me being a writer (sort of).  Someone taking my work and writing fanfics?  That's flattering (and I would love that one day).  Someone taking my character and throwing out something that makes them them would annoy me.

Unfortunately, as a writer, you're going to have to prepare yourself for both.

People gunna do what they gunna do. I don't really boil down his essence as a person To the romance. We have zero indication as to why he only prefers elf women since -- presumably -- due to budget and time the devs couldn't add rejection dialogue. We can assume but frankly the romance is almost the same as the friendship path minus a few flirts and the cut scenes. The friendship is oddly intimate so I think that's why it lends itself so well to the non canon stuff. Regardless I do think the writers may make his reasoning more clear as the dlc comes out and the romance arc is concluded.

I don't mind the other pairings and if they had written them in and actually specifically addressed the racial divide, it would have been interesting. Cest la vie. People have made some cute non canon art and good writing though so at least there is that.

I agree, I kind of like the way the romances were set up this time. It's kind of realistic.  But I also don't think a non-Lavellan makes greater sense with Solas, given the character development involved, his experiences with the Dalish, and his thoughts on and relationship with modern elves in general versus all his regrets and memories and traditions of the past. And, of course, having been vilified and all these things taught about him to the Dalish. It's super important that he falls for someone Dalish. 'It's complicated' only begins to describe the situation he then finds himself in.  And even if that Lavellan were male, it would make sense.

Heh, how so?

The more illogical pairings aren't to my taste either, though recently in discussing Tethraghast (talk about illogical) I was thinking, it's all fantasy, and for some people the idea of stretching or crashing lore/story barriers is appealing. I actually got complaints on my Loghain/Cousland novel that it was too canonical.

I like Solas with elves solely for the drama. A human finding out they've been doing the horizontal tango with the Dread Wolf? Boring. An elf? Now that's drama.

And I mean, it also makes the most sense from a lore perspective, and is narratively cohesive and all that. Logically though, it seems like it was mostly a budget/narrative simplicity thing since the whole fire swamp scene relies on the object of his affections having vallaslin, and there'd have to be a whole other scene for non-elves and such. Too hard basket.

It was addressed that the decision to limit it to female elves was initially a budget thing but I think it makes sense from a lore/story perspective too. Both this and the Cullen romance were added once the game was delayed but the Cullen romance is definitely different, more rounded I guess, with the option to go make out with him and all that. Even Cullen is only limited to two races, which was also likely a budget/time limitation.

But yes, the romance scenes for Solas share the friendship scenes, for the most part. Still, I think the added bits for a romance make it apart somehow.

DLC yet? -_-

Especially since he was considering telling the actual truth about himself.
