I've been wondering what this slow takeover of tentacled avatars was all about.

Blame Meer. It was all her doing. There is a backstory in the making...

*pops in* Heya! I was wondering how you all think Solas would have reacted if he met Merrill (from Dragon Age 2)? Would he respect her kindness toward spirits? Or would he detest her use of blood mage? Or both? And I know he really detests the way Dalish people live and she has a special connection to her kin so there would most likely be a clash there as well.

is okay with blood magic? believes spirits are more nuanced and complicated than circle mages believe? pariah among the dalish?

they'd get on like a house on fire. they'd chat in elven and make friendship bracelets

Oooh yeah, I remember. I think he's okay with blood magic as long as the mage respects its power. I also remember a party banter with Dorian, he said he would never use it himself. Hmmm.

She is REALLY Dalish, though, despite being an outcast from her clan.  I could see that and her willful blindness toward things that don't directly affect her (politics, war, etc.) getting under Solas's skin.  Generally though, I think Solas would prefer Merrill to, say, Sera.

It's funny, I'm not so sure of that at this point, given how much Solas comes to respect and play with Sera. He tests her, she trolls him, he also trolls her back, then all of his mentoring on conducting effective rebellions and his ultimate respect for her. I think he might also even kind of laughing to himself silently appreciate her 'all of that is stupid' rejection of the elven gods stuff and Dalish history and traditions. That said, Sera also has a lot of fears, like spirits, from growing up Andrastian, and those things could create potential conflict.

That said, Merrill has enough that sets her apart too. It would certainly be interesting if we could get the three together and watch. :)

I'm out of likes, but this. This is my girl.

I don't want her to be angry at him, but I know she would be. Just like, no matter how open minded she might now feel about the pantheon and their legends being largely metaphorical, her knee-jerk reaction to finding out that Solas is Fen'harel is not going to be pretty. There's at least 25 years of belief to let go of there. Once she can intellectualise it she'll come around. She still loves him. But her initial reaction? Bad news bears.

This is largely how I imagine my Tala will react as well, at least at first. If she finds out rather than being told by Solas that he is Fen'harel, she is going to be one raging Dalish gal out the gate. She's very far from devout, but as you've said, as a Dalish she's been brought up surrounded with these notions and stories--stories that many believe to be fact--and her knee-jerk reaction from that will likely be pretty severe.

In particular, the issue of trust would become pretty huge for her. I imagine she'll second guess a lot of their history, until she can sort through it with this new knowledge. I imagine she would come to feel the same way for him as she did before, albeit with slightly more caution. Ultimately, she knows he loves her, though that may be initially eclipsed by her all-consuming rage.

Fen'harel revelations aside, she'd still be angry with him, but more in a concerned way. A concerned way that would end with a shove and a real good smooch.

I still wonder at the truth behind the legend. Was she just that powerful that she could be taken in to the god club? Was it just that she was given an orb, too, and thus able to channel more power or something? I wish we knew more.

I know you likely mean by legend rather than any actual god-like power, but this alone would cause me great irritation if we load up DA4 and people suddenly have no idea where the Inquisitor went. I know they want a new protagonist in each game, but unless they strip the Inquisitor of the anchor and all the stuff that goes along with it in some DLC, it's going to feel really strange. And annoying. I'm tired of magical disappearing heroes. We've had way too many of them, followed by an unsatisfying reason for why they disappeared. Only to have them sort-of pop up. Kind of. Please no more.

http://dragonage.wik..._of_Ghilan'nain

I've said this before, but I'll say it again. Ghilan'nain really scares me. This particular codex is found in the Temple of Mythal, so it's not as far removed as Dalish legends go. While not entirely reliable, at least slightly more reliable, yes? Not only is it specifically Andruil who gives the god powers (so, perhaps other gods can be raised without the full consent of the entire pantheon) but she does it in exchange for the destruction of all these terrible monsters.

She was a "creator" before she was a Creator in a sense. Creepy. And indicative that godhood isn't something inherent. Though how that squares with the dev notes about Morrigan getting Mythal's godhood, I have no idea. Perhaps godhood is just a spell of some sort?

On the Inquisitor managing a Houdini before DA4... I completely agree. Which is why DA4 is going to be set up north, I think. The inquisitor can still be bopping around, but Tevinter is a bit out of their sphere of influence. If the devs feel like another ME3 backlash...I could see the inquisitor dying in a DLC, most likely Wolf Hunt. The Warden had to disappear to do Warden-y stuff. I get it, even if it's pretty weak. Hawke had to go into hiding after all the craziness in Kirkwall. Also understandable so long as Hawke wasn't also Viscount (otherwise, why even make Viscount an option if Hawke always had to vanish?) But the Inquisitor? Who basically controls a world superpower?

The epilogue slides all give the idea that southern Thedas is stable...for now. For the Inquisitor to vanish would create this huge vacuum of power, and ultimately too many complications for the writers I think. What happens if you set Briala over Gaspard and the Inquisitor vanishes? The slides give the idea that the inquisition is the only thing holding Orlais together in that situation.

I'd bang her.

Look at those hips.

Word. It confuses the hell out of me that people can actually think Cass isn't hot. My husband is one of them, though happily he's a very far cry from the vocal internet dudebros who get ridiculously affronted by it and post hateful things in all their misguided entitlement. He just doesn't think she's that attractive, but even that kinda blows my mind. Seriously. Look at her. LOOK AT THIS BABE.

NO NOT THAT FACE IDK WHO THAT IS BUT IT'S NOT MY GATT <33

The REAL Gatt is a cutie pie <33

You have no idea how much self control it took for me to not respond to this with another horrible Gatt sketch. I even had other screens of him open in various tabs in preparation. My drawing hand is literally twitching in denial.

Crack ship him. Gatt x Blackwall. Gatt x Abelas. Gatt x Broodmother.

With a face like his, just about everyone would want to smooch him. At least then their eyes are closed and they don't have to look at him.

It boggles my mind as well. To me, Cass is pretty damn hot. I get different tastes and all, but to hear people say that she's ugly:blink:

My boyfriend loved her character but didn't think she was hot or anything. Meanwhile I stared at her face way too long in every cutscene.

Gatt didn't quite take kindly to my questions and opinions. Your previous drawing looked like he should be fronting some old punk band.

Apparently short hair and a square jaw equals "manly" and "ugly"

Also, Cassandra looks like a seasoned warrior. That hair is practical, and her little braid is cute.  She's wearing the flower crown in my game right now and I love it.

It's also nice that she's an adult who has lived. Her history and her own life are so interesting, IMO. Those others who also complained about her age as a love interest? I mean, we all got someone waaaaaayyyyyy older than Cassandra. ;)

<snip>

Initially, Ghilan'nain struck me as perhaps the least interesting member of the Elvhen Pantheon. But when I actually took the time to read about her and think about the implications of the codex entries that mention her, the more interesting she's become. In fact, I'd say I'm most interested to find out more about her out of the Pantheon, at this point. The prospect that we could perhaps meet her in a future game (or DLC) is super exciting, and I hope she lives up to the creepy mentions she gains. But then there's the whole thing about her being attacked, made blind and turned into a halla for her preservation, so who knows what's happened to her exactly.

She's said to be the youngest member of the Pantheon too, right? I like to imagine her as this rather innocent looking young woman, white hair, large eyes and milky skin, unassuming and quiet, who can call up all manner of horrors, and does, to suit her every whim.

She scares me a bit. A mad scientist with god powers? Yikes.

She is indeed said to be the youngest of the Pantheon, though since Fen'Harel is in this sort of non-pantheon-but-sort-of-pantheon limbo he might technically be the newest god. There just isn't enough info. (Weekes, make it happen!)

I wonder if she extorted her godhood from the pantheon a bit. "Well fine I'll destroy all my dangerous monster creations but you have to make it worth my while" sort of thing.

Until they met Sera and the "pretty blonde" turned out to be a little less pretty...

IMO...Sera's personality makes her less attractive, but that's just me.

There are still people who feel that they were cheated out of Sera and get mad at the (fictional) lesbian for rejecting them.
