I probably would have, but I can't say for sure since I was also drawn to Solas. But I had the meta knowledge that she wasn't an option so maybe that worked in his favor. She's just such a wonderful character and, for multiple reasons, I just wound up loving her more and more as the game went on. 

 

One of the things I really love about Cass is that she and Lavellan had such different views on the Chantry (my girl believes - still - in the Dalish gods) but they ended up becoming friends anyway.  It took a lot of work and I had to kill a lot of rebel mages/ex-templers on her quest to get her to the point where she wasn't greeting me with open hostility but it was worth it.  I love that one of her late conversations has her talking about her plans for the chantry and one of the options is to say that you and her have different views on the chantry.  Cass doesn't disapprove of that.  She just smiles and says she wouldn't have it any other way.

 

Plus, I love that their early interaction can be summed up like this:

 

Cass: *disgusted noises*

Lavellan: *flirts*

Cass: *disgusted noises intensify*

Cassandra is faithful but she also doesn't push either, which I admired. These disagreements, as well as moments where you two discuss what she discovered, her plans for the future, and more, they felt like the stages of a friendship developing, as intended.

 

My Lavellan didn't support her for Divine (an inspired Leliana was her choice, and succeeded) because Cassandra, even though I RPed the elven gods beliefs too, has such passion and dedication to reform the order  and to make the Seekers better that I thought she was better suited to that anyway.

Cassandra's reactions to an f!Inky flirting are always super cute.  Due to locking in Solas' romance quite early I've never had her rejection dialogue but I've heard it's very sweet.

I agree.  I see Solas as more of a cat person as well. Or maybe a small, calm dog. hehehe...a chihuahua with the big ears. :-P  That would be hilarious!  Anyway, yeah..I can see him sitting at his desk, studying some Fade stuff with a cat on his lap, sleeping.

 

In my experience, I can tell you right now, chihuahua's are far from calm... they're lovely, emotional, willful, excitable dogs but calm? Nah.

I heard some people were upset at her Temple of Mythal dialogue. I've never taken her there, but I've heard she's pretty negative about the all the Elven religion.

She grumbles about it being "heathen nonsense" and doesn't want you to ally with the Sentinels, but all in all it's pretty mild.

Yeaaaah, that one must be quite irritating but funny at the same time. I feel like they used quite old/rare French names, between Gaspard, Vivienne, Floriane and all... These are not really common these days. It's refreshing to see them being used here, a bit.

 

Delphine is quite rare too, even in France (never met one during all my schooling years), but lately, it's becoming quite the popular name in North American TV shows, between Orphan Black, American Horror Story and now Empire, while it was practically nowhere to be seen before, even on French TV. This amuses me a lot!

Yeah, the fact they're using those kind of names is refreshing, and it adds another layer for us French-speaking people ^^

Of course, don't worry - I know what you mean ^^ When I heard about the Duchess' name, I was like "eh, little brother, there's a character in DAI with MY name! Not the same spelling, but, still, MY name! XD"  It's so rare usually. At least now you know for sure how it's pronounced  ^-^ (the Grand Duchess has two "n" and I have one, but same pronunciation nevertheless ^^)

OT that's funny, I'm a native, but I feel half of boys born in the beginning of the 2000s were named Gaspard. Very fashionable name among rich hipsterish family (yeah I know hipsters weren't really a thing at that time, but that the best way I can describe it). So maybe not half the boys but a lot.

You know, I'm actually not especially miserable at the hands of the hellspiral, to be honest. I had my moments, but I'm quite pleased that Solas is causing me to feel such strong feelings. Sure, I have this irremovable ache in my heart that clamps my heartstrings in its fist at times, and I may still cry like a baby over some scenes and artwork and writings, but ultimately I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. Better still, Solas led me to meet you wonderful people. Each and every person on this thread is beautiful, amazing, and brilliant, and I've come to respect you all immensely. I'm very, very glad to have met you people.

Mine flirted with just a few early on. Sera, Bull, Cassandra, and Solas, I think. Maybe Cullen. It just quickly became clear that Solas was like a magnet and I just ignored all other heart options from sometime in Haven.

I don't quite get where people see a friendship between Solas and Cass. I think they respect one another, and that's hugely important. I love that about their relationship, but there's a few points where it seems like Cass suspects Solas, but keeps it to herself.

 

Sad as it is, I don't see Solas being friends with anyone except Cole.

 

Oh, I think Cass suspect Solas quite a bit, especially at the beginning, on my first playthrough it was evident to me that she thought there was something fishy about him and was trying to tease it out of him in a nice way. Good luck with that Cass! She got nowhere. But yes suspicion and defensiveness did eventually give way to a mutual, grudging respect between them which was quite touching to see, and which I hope, at least, changed both of the characters' outlooks, they are both strong characters with very strong opinions, at least slightly.
