I'm just saying Hawke was recognized for a reason, He/she made a living for themselves through a lot of hard work, not because they were privileged or had everything handed to them.

Also I don't wanna talk about the Templars in DA2....     I don't think they could see through the tiny eye slits in their helmets very well....

Yea, though it is true that they stretched belief a bit far with how much Hawke was recognized. His accomplishments were admirable early on, sure, but they were also self serving, and if anything, something a mage wouldn't want since it would attract attention to themselves. I think if they're going to make a game centered around the mage templar conflict, they should have bothered to change how you experience the story, especially considering there's only one character and no origin stories for multiple races to worry about. Would have been grand to truly experience what it's like to be a mage and not be a mage in Kirkwall. Not like they had the excuse of having too big of a game to cover it.

*snip*

That happens in a lot of the origins though.

Dalish elf comes from the Elves who refused to surrender, proud and independent, last keepers of ancient lore, class archers etc.

Dwarf noble descends from the guy that saved Orzammar, your dad is the most respected king in generations, you are loved by the assembly and the people, and you are also the best fighter.

City Elf is poor and oppressed but you live in a tight-knit community, your mum was so awesome she was targeted for becoming a grey warden and also passed on the abilities necessary to single-handedly slaughter a castle filled with trained soldiers and war dogs.

Basically the start of the game bigs up your character no matter what origin you choose.

It's the same problem with Bethany's death.  I'm told by the game I should feel sad but I don't.

I'm reading this going, "Bethany's death?! What?! What?!" And then,

Bethany is just some random woman in my party at the start of the game.

Oh, you mean Carver.

I was worried there for a second.

I have a question about Solas.

Why does he call Sera, 'our people', but keeps giving the Elf Inquisitor the middle finger when you say 'our people' to him.

@nikki-tikki

I see the cinnamon roll now! It kind of fades into the background because it's similar color and I just thought it was swirly.

... damn, I'm slow...

Because he's inconsistent, like most people   He waffles between "our people," "your people," "the elves," "the elvhen..." all the time.  Also I think he does it to some extent to get a rise out of Sera, since she's so touchy about elfy stuff.

I'm not quite sure when he "gives the inquisitor the middle finger" about "our people" when talking about the elves if the inquisitor is an elf.  I know Abelas does.  Maybe I just played differently and never got a response like that?

Although yeah, he's probably both trying to troll Sera and trying to get her to admit to being at least a little elfy.

The only time he ever got tetchy with me was post-Halamshiral, where he says he doesn't consider himself to have much in common with the elves.  But he says that line for all Inquisitors.  It just hits a little harder if you're playing Lavellan.

Oh, and his early banter about the Dalish, but I don't think he every says "our people" or "your people."  He just rags on the Dalish.  Because apparently that's fashionable now

This is only because for some reason you have no option to play someone who does not automatically assume that because he's an elf, he's going to have a problem with Briala not running things - even if you are an elf. In particular the option that asks if he's got a problem with it, or something, seemed pretty rude to me. "Uh... why do you assume - oh."

Even with all of this, his snark about planting a tree was too good.

He says "our people" at least once... I think when talking about the orb and how it being of elven origin could look bad for elves...

I don't remember exactly, but I just watched it on Youtube.

Edit: Oh, and he says "our people" to Sera in the banter once too..

I remember with Sera, he's speaking Elven to her, and he says "our people can sometimes get the rhythm of the language," or something to that effect

This thread will remember the great Cinnamonikki Controversy of 2015 for generations to come.

Why does the cinnamon roll smile so contentedly? Is it the pleasure of a kept secret or a lover's favor? The world may never know, and the artist, Meerlynardo da Vinci, refuses to elaborate.

Meer, those fanfictions of yours took my heart and introduced it to a whole new bout of feels centering around Samson. I didn't want that heart intact or anything. Thanks a lot.

Seriously, though. Your writing is beautiful. Poetic, wonderful, and I'm jealous. Evelyn is wonderful, Samson is wonderful. It's all wonderful. I didn't know I needed those in my life until now.

Of course! Here. Spoilered cause HUGE.

Spoiler

Edit: Though I must ask myself why this is my canon Inquisitor because Tyrant Lavellan is MUCH more interesting...

Oh my! She's just the widdlewist cutie-pie. (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ But I, uh... might have to re-think this. She's too adorable for my evil.

she's going to have you making out with buck tooth gatt. and barntroll. with creeper solas in the background.  just a guess though.

DAMN IT KISSIEBEAR.

The chin. And those sexy come hither eyes of grumpyness.

UZ107fL.gif

This .gif is pretty much making me do exactly what the girl in the .gif is doing. It's the Inception of .gifs.

<snip>... you could be doing Anders' lightning sex trick in the middle of the street and Templars would stare with their dick in their hands.<snip>

Wow. Taken literally, this is quite the image. You know how to paint a picture.

So. Solas. Here's a legitimate question: do you guys think the ancient, immortal elves' bodies stop aging prior to what we as humans would consider old age? Or do you think they'd get there eventually, but the process of physically aging would slow down massively as they approached it? Do we have any lore relevant stuff on this? Or do we ever see any very, very old looking immortal elves in any capacity? I'd like to know the rate of body ageing v.s. years lived. These fantasy mechanics interest me.

Oh my, do we share the same minds? I was just wondering about whether ancient/immortal elves actually stopped physically aging and whatnot a few minutes ago.

Because yeah, I do want to know more about this little detail.

Edit: Fixed up my sentence because apparently I can't type my thoughts out properly when on my phone.

If Solas is Fen'Harel and not just a vessel, that pretty much answers that question.

And general fantasy immortality tends to go with the stop aging, no old elves idea...
