I am currently hellspirialling over Solas, Samson and the Magisters.  Curse this thread for your enabling ways.

I can only really commit to one hellspiral at a time.  Call it a lack of emotional capacity, I guess  And Adam Jensen has thoroughly ninja'd me with his devilish cyborg ways. I'm still hanging out in the Solas hellspiral, but it's more like riding a duck floatie around in the shallows nowadays.

It's one reason that perhaps my greatest wish for him is to find a real sense of peace. Something nice involving Lavellan would be great too, but even in deep love he never had peace,he had a few sparks of hope, which are also good, but his conflict carried over, so peace, however that comes, that goes to many of his layers. And hopefully not alone, especially given the pain of leaving Lavellan and then needing Mythal's power for his purpose. Solas, don't go and die alone, please.

All of my Solas hellspiralling is due to how tragic his character is. It'd be nice if he and Lavellan could find some sort of… happier conclusion for their relationship. But mostly I just want something good to finally come out of everything Solas has sacrificed. Dude has tried so hard, I just want to see it work out, just one time.

I feel like I have an infinite capacity for hellspiralling. When I find some new character or story arc to be sad about it doesn't push any of the other stuff aside, or to the back, it just jumps into the trash pit with all the rest.

I'm reading Asunder, my Cole feels certainly co-exist with my Solas feels. And also other feels from elsewhere.

That I could enable magister feels makes me so happy: self high-five! (sinks back into the most magisterial dumpster in the land.)

Also  yeah, the fish pie. That disgusting monstrosity of a dish.  SAAAMSON.  Yeah, I'm sure I'll be all 'yay' lore but like...we're supposed to getting more info on his character and then we get the recipe for his favorite food. I'll probably cry.  ROCK CANDY PRINCESSING SO HARD RIGHT NOW.

ALREADY THERE, sobbing at the prospect. If we learn more about his past before his stint on the Kirkwall streets, I will absolutely die. Knowing more about Samson can only make him 100% sadder and I am down with that. I am down. On the floor. Crying.

Ah, yes. For me as well, it's his bone-crushing solitude and alienation that aches. Not so much the romance.

But I'm writing right now about medieval priests and crying over magisters. So.

Spoiler

My god, it's like we're twins.

Later:

Adviser: Why is this diss. chapter so . . . emotional and . . . I mean. I don't know. And let's not use words like "enflesh" and "penetrate" so much, ok? It's academic writing.

Me: I don't know. No idea. Nothing to see here.

(Some version of the above may have actually happened. Maybe.)

Hello Solas thread, my name is Siha and I have a problem. All my friends are hellspiraling over magisters and I don't know why. I feel left out and detached from my peer group, which is causing me massive emotional distress. Thank you that I could talk about this openly. I hope you can help me.

The great thing about his character is that it isn't completely fixed.  Like Planescape: Torment, Deus Ex does a great job balancing between an established protagonist with lots of backstory, and a protagonist you still can shape.  I played stealth/mostly pacifist Jensen who tried to reach out to everyone, and my friend played cold corporate murder Jensen, and we had two totally different experiences despite playing the same PC in a game whose main plot is largely on rails.

On topic:  Er...both Solas and Jensen trigger my OH GOD LET ME HUG YOU instincts?  Though I think Solas would be more huggable.  I'll stop rambling about cyborgs now.

Truth.  Jensen would be like "What is this? What are you doing" but it'd be in that sexy-gravel voice and you're like..."IMMA HUG YOU HARDER".  also he has the armor and metal. so you know...cold and kind of uncomfortable. i'd still try.  i'd still try.

I feel like if you ever hugged Solas in game. LIke any friendly inquisitor just went up and gave him a hug he would just break down into silent sobs.

Have a seat on my couch. Relax. Close your eyes, at tell Giton your problems. However, I must warn you, if your friends are lost in the magister hellspiral, I'm afraid their condition might be terminal. For they have crossed the event horizon. There is no turning back. No escape. No mercy. But if you cross over, you will come to enjoy the pain.

In order to better understand their condition, I recommend burning some sacred incense, turning on your favorite Latin death mass, lighting some candles, and thinking about horror of the abyss.

I would totally still try to hug Jensen too.  It might be less uncomfortable if he was wearing the leather coat.

I doubt I would just hug Jensen... but it may became a quite vulgar talk, so I'll stop here...

I really loved how the preferred gameplay choices shaped the character. I would really love a DE with a female character, I must admit. But I'm happy to see again Adam.

Thank you people of the Solas thread, for taking away that short term emotional stability, with images of Solas stepping into a fire to die with a burning Lavellan, a breaking down sobbing Solas in response to a unexpected hug, and Samson feels, and magister feels. I'll just...be in my corner, mourning that stolen sense of peace.

Invisible War allows you to play Alex Denton as male or female.  And...that's about all we're going to say about Invisible War.

I used to only play female PCs in video games, but Adam and The Nameless One broke me of that habit.  And I'm so glad for that.  I never would have experienced loveable Renegon Bro-Shep, Nicholas Boulton's glorious purple ManHawke, or my deadpan-but-essentially-nice Man Adaar without them.

It's even worse since these things had, from what we can infer, good intentions, which (along with what his rebellion and these bad outcomes did to his reputation over time) made their impact upon him even stronger. :(

I can't think about this because, honestly, if he hadn't yet finished his mission, I don't think he would. His duty to The People would have to come first.

As much as he loves her, he's not going to throw away all hope for his people just to burn at her side. I think he'd try to save her. But if there was no hope for that then… no. He'd just have to stand by and watch her die.

If this hypothetical situation were to occur after he's completed his task, then… I think he just might. All these years he's been living just for the opportunity to right his mistakes, with that done he may finally be free to have a life, make choices based on what he wanted rather than what The People needed. He'd be free to die, if he so chose.

Oh God. I hope not:

Lavellan(who is also on fire): YOU BETTER NOT! SCAT. GET ON OUT OF HERE!

Solas: But...but...sobs

Lavellan(who is alson on fire): I NEVER LOVED YOU ANYWAY. *possibily crying*

I dunno...it kind of turned into Old Yeller...or whatever movie the crying person pushes away the dog so they don't have to shoot it.

Whatever. I don't think he would actually. Going to be honest.  He gets all disappovey if you say you'll committ suicide for the good of the team at Haven.  I think, if he felt, there was more work to be done. More things he could impact, he wouldn't do it. He killed Mythal. Or at least weakened her significantly to the point where she may never recover.  I think he would be sad and grieve for a long time over a romanced Lavellan, but like you guys only dated for maybe a 1 year and not even really. You always kind of danced around what was going on.  There was always something he was holding back.  So to throw himself on the fire in a fit of dramatics. No. I dont' see it. I do see him going completely postal and just killing everyone in sight though.

So this is about angst, not sex? I mean, not explicitly at least. In the Freudian sense it probably is after all.... or did I get the wrong incense? Maybe pachouli isn't right.. rather vanilla?
