El (EHL): our.
Vhen (VEHN): "people of" or "belonging to the elves, the clans, elven society"
-An (AHN): suffix indicating place or location
So "vhenan" is "the place of our people", but yet means heart? What does this tell me, that the elves only live in each others hearts without a physical representation? Or that they never had a real home, a "home is where the heart is" sort of thing? Or that in an elven heart there's no place for anything but other elves?
All that is pretty ridiculous, so what does the origin of the word tell me about its creators?

They could be like German where you add onto the word which makes it a whole different word?
Source: I am not German whatsoever...I just heard that makes German difficult to understand sometimes....
you beautiful swan, you

From what I've heard from people more well versed in this than I am, yes, it is like German in that sense.

yeah....I don't know why they didn't just make a new word for heart. *shrug*

I'm out of likes, curses! It's lovely, Capricorn. :3 Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

it's so weird how emotional attachment changes your perception of how attractive someone is. I remember being fairly uninspired with promo images but now he's so beautiful i could literally cry over ever plane and crease and freckle on his stupid bald head.
This, exactly. When the screens of Solas came out, I had no strong feelings for him either way. Not indifference exactly, but just ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But then the game happened, and the voice happened, and the splendidly animated mannerisms and his character and BAM, suddenly everything about him is ridiculously hot.
I can't even pinpoint exactly when I started swooning over the way he looked, really. His character was just so unexpected that I think it kind of crept up on me while I was caught completely off guard by him. No regrets. Riding this Solas train until it crashes and burns to the ground (or sprouts angelic wings and flutters into the sky with conductor!Lavellan).

I want Ellana to send Professor Solas a picture of some tea and see his reaction.*
*inspired by the green tea I just made.
Professor Solas is my most shameless of kinks
Whenever I see Solas and Professor in the same sentence I get too excited for my own good. I am a horribly mess and I blame it entirely on Mr. Weekes.
*high fives*
Me too...for reasons...@.@

Mine too... The most shameless of kinks... Oh Professor Solas, teach me your ways! x3

Hmm...
edit: You know, I actually like the idea of this one. Maybe a good challenge....eventually.

Michel does something for me, I admit.

I assume you couldn't think of the right word, so I fixed it for you.

You mean like "bog" and "us" makes "bogus"? See, English is like that too.
In short, we really shouldn't try to understand Elven or make serious attempts at deducing linguistic rules and relationships. Well, unless we want to make god laugh. That's basically what it comes down to, it seems.
Just want to make sure people have seen this -

I think it's appropriate that they're connected. We say "heart and soul." A person's heart and soul is their family, home, but you can still say "I gave you my heart" and mean it romantically. So "vhenan" is "the place of our people", but yet means heart? What does this tell me, that the elves only live in each others hearts without a physical representation? Or that they never had a real home, a "home is where the heart is" sort of thing? I'm sorry..I don't remember which one of you is writing that Dorian and Fenris fic...but this pic is perfect for you..hehe
LOL! The only time Fenris and Dorian would get along. ![]()
k.d. lang is a Canadian singer and Patrick Weekes used her version of Hallelujah to inspire some of Solas' cadence.
I'm sure this was posted before, but I just looked up her version of the song.
Definitely a powerful version.

With regards to the first romance scene with Solas. xD
What happens when you sleep for a couple of centuries? ![]()
Nice shirt, Solas. :3
Solas sketches.
Now I'm imagining Seggrit following Cassandra around, making double entendres about ways he can serve the Inquisition, her trailing disgusted noises all across Sky hold and finally begging the Inquisitor to take her on the next mission.'Cassandra and Seggrit: ways to procrastinate'
