Celene has died on every playthrough I've had, can't stand her. Whenever I play with an elf briala rules through Gaspard. If I am not an elf Gaspard rules alone.

All three of them are terrible people, Celene has been willing to butcher thousands of Orlesian elves, Gaspard has been willing To let her do so and briala is willing to let Orlesian suffer to further her cause.

I go for Gaspard because he is the rightful emperor, having a great general around seems useful, I don't care about Orlais, his speech at the palace is the start of a Ameridan-Drakon tier bromance, and he says that he despises the game. That last thing on its own really.

It's going to matter about as much as who rules Ferelden in the end anyhow. So you might aswell put on a blindfold and throw a dart.

Spoiler

As much as there is to like about Gaspard(as an emperor...he was kind of skeezy). I am concerned that he's the stable now, **** show later option.  At the end of the day, he likes war.  He wants to expand the Orlesian empire.  Why would anyone want that. That's like saying "oh, i have this rash...I JUST WISH IT WAS EVERYWHERE".  He dies in my PT with Lavellan.  I'll have him live when I finish out my Trev run.  I am interested to see if that world state interesting.

I think Briala/Celene are the most stable option.

As long as he leaves Ferelden alone I'm not fussed, he can attack Navarra, Navarra is weird. As I said I don't think the decision will matter really but I can see a Qunari invasion soon enough and I think Gaspard will be far more useful than Celene in that case.

I haven't read the book yet, so looking at this from purely what you are given in the game:

If you show the locket to Celene, she admits that she should have done more for the elves, but that while she can pass laws she can't sway the noble's hearts. So, basically, while she'd like to do more, she knows that won't win her any favors. You can get her and Briala to rule together, but the epilogue card says nothing about this benefiting the elves. What it does say is peace is shaky, and there's doubts as to how long the relationship between Celene and Briala will last.

My interpretation of that is that Celene again is unwilling to make the changes Briala wants, leaving the elves no better off. So if the goal for you is to make change for the elves, it's my opinion that having Briala rule through Gaspard is the better choice. Her changes might be radical and they might be pushing Orlais toward civil war (but really, all the epilogue cards hint toward that no matter what you do) but at least some change is made.

Just my two cents.

She's an Orlesian politician, so if her lips are moving, she's lying. Moreso in Orlais than usual. Celene's colors are shown if you try to reconcile her with Michel. She'll talk to him privately and wave some platitudes in his face, but won't do anything that actually matters. Not that I care much for Michel, either. He can go off and be a professional demon fighter and earn some of the honor the chevaliers talk about.

For all Gaspard's talk about war, he will make peace with Ferelden if brought to the table, and Celene was the one who tossed away a chance for a diplomatic solution to his legitimate challenge.

I wanted to share this invaluable Fereldan map with approximate travel times for those writing fanfic. I wish I had this weeks ago.

This is great. I just changed the setting of something since i had no idea how long travel time might be.

A week. It took almost a week from the FireSwamp.

Ha.  Oh god. That's so awkward.  Also I headcanon my Lavellan went back to the fort there and just drank with Charter, who seems really chill and awesome.  She told Solas to figure his **** out on his own.

I think it will actually matter quite a great deal. I think it will inform how Orlais is in the next game.

I kind of estimated 5 days in the thing I wrote a few weeks ago, and I guess mounted that would work. But yes, terribly awkward. Which is why my Lavellan starts processing the sad on the way back and winds up sort of fluctuating between sad, angry, and generally embarrassed by the time she gets back.

See, I headcanon that while it's the same map as Crestwood, Solas took her to a little grotto in the foothills below Skyhold.  So, like, a day of travel or so.  Because even Solas can't think it's a good idea to drag quizzy out for a ten-day field trip while everyone is gearing up for Corypheus.

Yeah. I know. They like go on a mini-holiday while your advisors are like "CORYPHEUS IS BEARING DOWN ON US". If it was my Lavellan and Solas was all 'Let's go to Crestwood',  she would be like 'how about we just go for a walk in the garden or down the mountain a ways...k buddy?'

I also imagine that Corypheus is magistically flying through the air from the Arbor Wilds to Haven as this is happening.

These are things that need to be canon.

Charter is amazing.  I'm hoping that if there's a new spymaster for post-game DLC with Divine Leliana that it's her.  The entire converstation chain she has in Haven meant that when I met her in Crestwood I was just 'oh god.  It's her <3 '

Writing Hawke and Solas feels between Fenris and my Inquisitor. This might be my favorite scene ever.

Given as my canon is a f!Surana I'm not sure if that's a fanastic prompt or terrifying.

Navarra being a wreck means it's the perfect time to invade them! Big king Mark will keel over soon, his million strong family will tear eachother apart and Orlais can swoope in a paint the map whatever colour Orlais is on the map.

Maybe I've just been playing too much Crusader Kings...
