Hey thread! I just popped in to say I'm in awe of all of you that can capture Solas' voice so accurately in fanfics!

 

I'm in the middle of writing a post break-up fic for my Lavellan. I've only been able to pen some of her immediate reaction but I'm planning to eventually have some chapters where Solas is featured but I worry that I will get his voice all wrong 

 

Does anyone have pointers they could give me?

Mine too.  I do actually like the guy, but neither of my Wardens would have let him live.  I wish I could go back, resurrect him, and apologize.  I thought he was just being a prejudiced jerkbag about the Orlesians back in DA:O when we didn't know anything about them other than "vaguely French and imperialistic."  Now I know better.  He was totally right about how much they suck.

While Loghain made mistakes after the fact, the retreat at Ostagar might not have been one of them. It was a pragmatic decision, made at the last moment (he waited an hour for the Warden and Alistair to trundle up the tower and light that beacon, a full hour), the aim was not to assassinate Cailan. He aimed to preserve the army, and he eventually determined the death of the foolish king was acceptable collateral. There were also questions about the legitimacy of the Wardens and their motivations, and we sort of see him vindicated on that point in Inquisition, when the Inquisitor is in his very same position, just without a Blight.

Im with you on Loghain. I would have done it too.  Generals have to make these decisions.  Maybe he made the wrong one, but he saved a lot of lives that day.  Imagine the battle of denerim if the army had been wiped out.
