You. Stop apologizing in here.

All was clear.
Oh, ToP
Spoiler
Okay, okay. Pfffft. I just want to make sure. Part of my sense of humor is dry and sarcastic (thanks a lot for passing that onto me, Mom), and I worry that I don't express that humor very well at times.
You're fine! Everything's fine
I was just teasing.
(basically I wanted an excuse to use that gif)
That is a wonderful gif.
I'm going to slide this back in here for people who didn't see yesterday. I wrote smut again. My parents would be ashamed.

Now I'm picturing that breakup scene in, like, the windiest part of the Hissing Wastes.
Solas: Stop. You are perfect - *ack* *hack*
Lavellan:
Solas: Just inhaled a mouthful of sand. Kissy times?
Lavellan: Dude, NO.
I am out of likes already. But
.
The first time I got the Solas coughing in the desert banter, it made me laugh.

Just because that needed posted again.
Edit: HiddenStrike beat me to it.
Curses!

I don't think I've ever actually taken him to that part of the desert...
EDIT: I love youtube.

The funny thing is my mom has always loved smut. I used to find uh....smutty literature of hers all the time as a kid. There is also probably no worse TMI than finding your parent's search history. ![]()
I have no confidence in my ability to write smut but I think my mom, in any case, would not be ashamed, if I did.
That is my random statement for the day.

I was just going to post it for you. But yeah, it jarred me. It's sooooo quiet and then full on coughing. I got it one other time later, but it was just so random and kind of hilarious. Like Solas, really?

Inquisitor: Solas?
Inquisitor: Are you okay?
Inquisitor: Do you need water?
Inquisitor: Do need mouth to mouth?
Inquisitor: Should I give you mouth to mouth?
Solas: *raspy voice* Inquisitor, please.
Inquisitor: What's that? I couldn't hear you. *smooches*
I actually disagree with this, I am 100% sure that there was a scraped blood Mage mind control plot, probably by the mages that work with Howe. To me it explains why Howe murdered the Couslands, because he really wouldn't have done that if he didn't know he would get away with it. Loghain also has quite a step down from "I alone will save ferelden" to "mistakes were made" really quickly. While Loghain made mistakes after the fact, the retreat at Ostagar might not have been one of them. It was a pragmatic decision, made at the last moment (he waited an hour for the Warden and Alistair to trundle up the tower and light that beacon, a full hour), the aim was not to assassinate Cailan. He aimed to preserve the army, and he eventually determined the death of the foolish king was acceptable collateral. There were also questions about the legitimacy of the Wardens and their motivations, and we sort of see him vindicated on that point in Inquisition, when the Inquisitor is in his very same position, just without a Blight.
...I clicked it. I clicked it again.

It isn't until the dlc when Loghain cruelly defends his actions at Ostagar, so yeah, I think the whole morally grey action thing is a mixture of bioware covering their tracks and smelling their own farts.
That sounded ranty.
If there was one, it's not what's canon. I could see it, but I'm actually glad they scrapped it then. I love that Loghain is so divsive. This is what happens in war. A General has to make really cold decisions. Yes, some of it may have been informed by his distrust of the Grey Wardens and his idiot son-in-law, but I would believe most it was done as just a decision he's expected to make as a General. He made a calculated decision to quit the field to save his army. He had no trust that Orlais would be coming and every other Blight that has come before took years to end. They were facing down a massive army of...pretty much the un-dead. It was just wave after wave of them. Darkspawn only follow the call. They have no sense of honor or loyalty. They are just mindless murder machines. It would have been a mess either way...to him leaving was the lesser one.
I think we can all agree - we all win when the fandom has produced such wonderfully cheesy Loghain Romance mod videos that I can troll Elora with.
I once stumbled on a Loghain romance mod before I learnt how to filter stuff on Nexus.

This is the thing that when you're at the Landsmeet and Alistair is screaming for Loghain's head because of Duncan's and Calian's deaths, I'm just like... "Dude, Calian was an idiot who ran into a battle he didn't realize was way bigger than he was and Duncan ran in after him, so... no."
I mean, Loghain messed up. But the battle at Ostagar? Nope. Can't fault him for that no matter how many ways I look at it.

I'm disappointed that this prompt generator doesn't seem to use the comic characters. I keep hoping I get a Mae prompt. Anyone know if she's in it or not?
You know, I always found it interesting Solas mentions Loghain and the Battle of Ostagar in his Fade-related dialogue, especially since the next lines suggest that viewpoint determines all when it comes to the subject of right and wrong. It can be easy to get caught up in a variety of other plot threads (for instance: being a warden, romancing Solas, etc), but when you cut both characters down to the quick, they're incredibly similar. They've both done regrettable things for what they believed might be the greater good, both of them are vilified for these actions (perhaps justifiably depending on the viewpoint).

This. It's why I was amused to get that particular prompt for them.

Solas: I dreamt at Ostagar. I witnessed the brutality of the darkspwan and the valor of the Fereldan warriors. I saw Alistair and the Hero of Fereldan light the signal fire... and Loghain's infamous betrayal of Calain's forces.
Inquisitor: I've heard the stories. It would be interesting to hear what it was really like.
Solas: *sly smile*
... I really kind of want to write that Jane Austen AU David Gaider was tweeting about. It's just too good.

I'm a big Jane Austen fan, so it's just so, so tempting. In her grave, Austen is screaming, "This is what you have reduced me to."
I'm glad it was cut out too. But to me Loghain's actions at Ostagar were just a power grab, he thought he could do a better job on his own. In the game no one really says that Ostagar was a bad plan and doomed to fail.If there was one, it's not what's canon. I could see it, but I'm actually glad they scrapped it then. Well hi again, best BSN thread, I had to go away for not cool familial reasons, but I'm now back home.
I hope you will forgive me if I don't have the will to backtrack a week and a half of all the spam I missed, but I'm sure it was awesome and totally on topic since this thread's not locked yet. Glad to be back here with you all ![]()

HI DELPHINE! I hope all is better/well. You missed some ridiculousness with a prompt generator, but I'm sure Illyria will keep bringing it back.

To me, it's not even so much that the two characters are similar, but that you describe the situation of essentially anyone ever in the position of making decisions that affect many others (however well or terribly handled). It's the same sort of reason I have no problem believing Solas could be a 'bad guy.' Few people painted as evil in history or fiction are seriously thinking, "Can't wait to stuff more babies on spikes, today!" There are goals, plans, doctrines, ends that justify means, however terrible.
I'm not suggesting that they are always excusable - the opposite, really. The part that is strange to me is the belief that someone we love could never do that, when the wall dividing us ( me, my family, my religion, my culture, my country) from The Other (that does what we would never) is pretty flimsy, heh.
